A year after his debut album "Viaggi", Amsterdam based italian Marco Antonio Spaventi is back with another fine full length statement. Entitled "Isola Sommersa" and landing on M>O>S Recordings, it follows up after many great EPs on the label over the last five years. Spaventi has a passion for old school house but always brings it up to date. Using hardware tools like a natural extension of his body, he cooks up rugged grooves, nostalgic moods and smoky atmospheres that cocoon you in sound of its own. As well as releasing on other labels like Slow Motion, Secretsundaze, Pizzico Records and Cos_Mos, he is also an acclaimed production wizard and runs his own professional studio. Long the way here, Spaventi dips his toes into various waters with equal success. There are spaced out and invitingly warm grooves such as the rubbery ‘Tape Noodles’, blissful ambient interludes like ‘Undisclosed’ and serene synth passages filled with retro future beauty such as the closer ‘Titanic Moments.’ Cuts like ‘Simple Mind’ prove this artist can conjure up genuine feelings of internal reflection as well as raw physical drum lines, and ‘Best Regards’ is a tantalisingly go slow bit of cosmic house that erupts into a fluid acid track. Though Chicago and Detroit are obvious reference points, Spaventi always develops his own ideas with a refreshing vibe. It makes for an album that is house at its heart, but also one that is ambitious, absorbing and widescreen in the way it is executed.

Ma Spaventi - Tornerò Reprise
Ma Spaventi makes a slick return to Slow Motion Records with the captivating ‘Tornerò’.
Descending arps trickle into ‘Tornerò’ from the get-go. Vocoded vocals flutter through the masterful mix, weaving into inviting synth swells. Defined drums are firmly felt across this record.
‘Non Ce L’Hai Solo Tu’ is a Detroit-infused, fierce floor filler. Layering vocoder motifs with crisp synth stabs make for many a euphoric payoff. The intelligent entwining of electro, early Detroit house and Ma Spaventi’s effortless earworms are plentiful. His gift for haunting, strong melodic intonation is prevalent in ‘Costa Brava.’ A grounded, growling bassline rasps throughout the track, reeling you further and further into this whirlpool of brilliance.
‘Tornerò Reprise’ closes this magnificent EP beautifully. Whispering vocal lines are hauntingly blended with synthesiser noise, keeping in line with the swells across the record and resolving the first edition of ‘Tornerò’ with a more acidic conclusion.
The revered Italian producer, mixing and mastering engineer makes his abundant sonic expertise clear in this enticing LP. Encapsulating his talents, ‘Tornerò’ transports you to Ma Spaventi’s unmatched state of flow. More

Ma Spaventi is a wonderfully versatile artist. Over his decade-long career, the Italian musician has turned his capable hand to everything from ambient to techno. Once again, he is expanding his sound palette and challenging expectations with Vicino Lontano.
Across eight tracks, an array of ideas and influences are explored with additional guitar work coming care of Odeon’s Michele Righini. The reflective hues of “Solitario” give way to the warming strings and peaceful brightness of “Crepuscolo.” Written and produced in Amsterdam between 2017 and 2019, beautiful memories of the past are the source of inspiration. Radiating Summer sunshine bathes “Bring Me Back” in a comforting glow, while “Velvet Lights” teases rhythm sections with thick bass lines and shimmering synth work. Moments of introspection arrive in the elegant gliding forms of “Bomber” and “Intermezzo.” The rumbling “End Line” finds harmony amongst a spread of styles, cascading chords and rich textures, all combining beautifully. A moon rise closes, the grand curtain falls on “Bidderosa”, calling time of this stunning collection. More

Ahead of him releasing a full length album on MOS in 2016, key label artist MarcoAntonio Spaventi is teasing us with a three track Prelude EP. Spaventi hails from Italy, but is based in Amsterdam, and is someone who deals in misty, Chicago referencing house sounds that are loaded up with a real sense of analogue jack. As well as on MOS he releases on Slow Motion, Most Excellent NY and Pizzico Records, and in summer 2015 he put out a leftfield electro, Italo, soundtrack and disco full length, Viaggi, that showed he has great range in the studio. Here, though, he has his focus on the dance floor. ‘Missing Sunlight’ is rueful and tender, deep and absorbing with soft drums and molten synths soothing mind, body and soul. ‘Falla!’ is again perfectly smooth and serene, tunnelling deep into the universe on a rolling drum line and with gurgling machines bubbling away in the foreground. Finally, ‘Balla!’ ups the ante and is more driven, with acid lines freewheeling up and down as firmly planted kicks power the whole thing along. Full fat but still sprinkled with cosmic dust, it is a track that makes the wait for the album that bit more tantalising.

MA SPAVENTI, a Roman, now based in Amsterdam, has been around for a minute; his trio R-A-G (with Aroy Dee and Gijs Poortman, a.k.a.
Gstring) has been recording refined, classicist house and techno on an all-analog kit since 2010. Marked by tough drums, swirling pads, and a
willingness to veer into pure, beatless ambient territory, their records are formally purist without scrimping on a sense of mystery. Spaventi's solo work so far has suggested that he may be the tough guy of the bunch; his singles "Wrecking," "The Jungle," and "Insanity" skipped over all niceties in favor of brute 909 snares and scrappy synth work. His 2012 single "Baia," meanwhile — co-produced with Secretsundaze's James Priestley — was a cubby, sax-infused tribute to Balearic house. Now Spaventi is back with two new Eps that demonstrate how versatile he really is. Revolver, Most Excellent Unlimited's inaugural release, is something of a Swiss army knife for DJs planning to venture into the wilderness. There's a melancholic, mid-tempo house number, "The Sick Tape Dealer,"that's lit with a crystalline glow. There's "Slowmo," a loping opener that suffuses an andante house groove in queasy Giallocore tones. "Revolver," the record's fastest cut, balances strapping snares and insistent open hi-hats with dreamy chords; it sits on the fence between placid and acid, just the thing for tipping the night into full gear. And the slow-motion tearjerker "La Valle Delle Lacrime"comes in two versions — one with a skeletal drum machine and a beatless edit that revels in the simplicity of his analog synths. Luxuriating in ringing fifths with just a hint of Theremin-like warble, it's an unusually sturdy example of ethereal ambient techno. On remix duties, the prolific Mark E delivers a deep, atmospheric, slow burner in the vein of his recent PROJECT E work. The "Revolver EP" 12" ships everywhere Tuesday September 17, and beatless version of "La Valle Delle Lacrime," plus a downtempo chugger aptly named, "Slowmo" are set to release digitally later this fall.

Vernon Felicity is also known as Conforce and Boris Bunnik, the tireless Dutch producer who marries analog and digital sounds together into otherworldy sound tracks. Now he is back on MOS once more after a new Conforce album on Delsin, and again he impresses with his unique ear for detail and ability to craft intricate sonic worlds. The label's excellent 23rd EP kicks off with 'Fake Profile', an icy bit of deep techno with a sprawling 303 acid line and typically deep and soulful pads in the background. Dance floor ready but also super heady, it is rich in detail but full of groove. 'Induce' is a more broken beat pattern with lumpy 909 drums, lazy open hi hats and gloopy bass. Sombre, downbeat chords add real emotional resonance to this mid tempo house cut as it slowly trudges though the cosmos. The flip finds 'Dropping Faces' get all manic and out of control, with whirring machines, wild drum programming and plenty of angst percussion. Subtle cow bells and distortion add texture and scale and it is the angriest cut here. Lastly, 'Running Late' rounds out an expertly varied EP with lush synth drones that slowly uplift you as the drums and percussion do their slick work down below. Once again, Vernon Felicity proves he can make every style of electronic music, and does so with real personality.

The Baiyun Mountain EP is John Heckle's debut appearance on MOS Recordings. Brit Heckle has more than established himself as a lone sonic explorer thanks to LPs and EPs on labels like Chicago's Mathematics and Holland's Creme Organization. Across three more tracks here, he lays out his dense and textured vision of house music once more. Opener 'Cactus Jack' is a writhing thing with coarse snares, wild acid gurgles and plenty of paranoid synth lines. 'Birds With Vertigo' is another gauzy affair where every bit of sound is filled with fuzz, analogue rawness or splintered percussion. It's intense and intriguing at the same time before final and title track 'Baiyun Mountain' goes a little deeper, with springy metallic synths, ticking percussion and a supple bassline all wrapping around each other into a controlled cacophony of sound.

The unstoppable Boris Bunnik is back once again, this time as Vernon Felicity with a four track EP for MOS Recordings. The tracks see him explore his usual analogue heavy sound, but there is a little more space in his arrangements, a more rueful mood. The title track 'Dawning' is slow and purposeful, with acid pricks and twitches peppering a churning groove. Next, 'Breaking Silence' is more kinetic, with claps, hits and squiggly melodies all bouncing off each other as pronounced basslines strike a melancholic note below. On the flip, 'Wrong Notion' has plenty of height to it, again with eco systems of analogue lines and acid belches all weaving their way around each other and the raw, splintered beats below, before last track '3' explores wide open cosmic synth spaces with lingering pads, mournful Blade Runner style synth lines and gently churning rhythms all soothing your brain and body in equal measure.

R-A-G is MOS boss Aroy Dee in partnership with Marco Spaventi and G String. Together they make frayed and analogue house music that joins the dots between 80s Chicago and the modern day. This new EP does just that once more, opening with the dense sci-fi stomper that is Vacuum. With coarse synths and plenty of sonic scuzz it fires your every synapse. On the flip side, Plenum (Outer Mix) is a beat less ambient affair with lost synths ringing out in vast chambers of fine grain sound, before the Inner Mix slowly courses on raw kick drums. Whole ecosystems of synths spiral around like galaxies in the distance to make for truly filmic deep house listening.

fter his excellent and well-received Coded Emotion EP on the MOS label in late 2011, analogue fetishist Perseus Traxx returns for another MOS outing... It finds the producer in similarly classic mode, exploring the deep down depths of house and techno in his own fuzzy and hugely atmospheric way. 'Gorgon' has widescreen synths, tightly coiled synth lines and jagged beats all tussling with each other, whilst 'Poseidon's Monster' is about chattering claps hanging above a synth line that twists and turns, implodes and explodes at whim. It's focused and forceful at the same time as sounding some how human. On the flip, 'Return To Seriphos' is another dense soundscape, but one that invites you into its core thanks to the freeform analogue lines, contrast of rough with smooth and generally classy Chicago vibes. 'Stranger Shores' is less troubled and more reflective with bright melodic chords glowing from the centre of the track as warbling, swollen sub undulates all around them. This is music for dancing to, but also music in which to lose your mind as you travel a world away from here: textbook MOS.

Michigan resident D'Marc Cantu serves up his next album on the ever-excellent MOS Recordings on June 11th 2012. Though essentially a house and techno producer, American Cantu often goes further than most, calling on a world of influences to ensure his jacking productions are as far away from standard as possible, yet still do damage on the right dancefloors as have previous EPs on this label, Nation and Crème Organization. His latest offering, A New World, aims to capture, detail and relay many different stories from within the re-born city of Detroit. Across the course of eight tracks, many different moods and styles are explored from dark and abstract to more synth lead and serene. There are plenty of squelchy acid lines and frantic percussive workouts, but so too are there pockets of slower, deeper, dubbier introspection that speak of mystery and intrigue as does the city of Detroit itself. Says D’Marc of the album.. "Detroit, MI has a rich history and is filled with amazing people and I wanted to capture what I feel every time I go there. With every song there’s an evolution that leads you to a new yet familiar place. These songs all have a story and each revolves around the concept of growth, community and rebuilding. "Spirit Form", "The First Planet" and "Genetic Script" all drive the idea of rebirth, utilizing dreamy pads and primal rhythms as they dig at the soul, while "Good"'s levity reaches at the heart of what I love about living in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It continues to inspire me, with its many amazing artists and diversity." Despite all these conceptual ideals, the album will not disappoint existing fans, as so too does the album deal in the sort of thing that people have come to expect of this considered producer. Tracks like "Green Bike Seat" and "Mobile Communication" aim to encapsulate the honesty and decaying beauty of urban life, never allowing you to forget the reality of life in a sprawling metropolis. A true journey of investigation, realisation and re-discovery, A New World is far more than just another house album, but instead demands and rewards the close attention of anyone listening.

Legowelt and Orgue Electronique's Chicago Shags project lands at M>O>S! super cool 12"! Though well respected and accomplished producers in their own right, together Brian 'Orgue Electronique' Schijf and Danny 'Legowelt' Wolfers really make the girls go wild. Their Chicago Shags project is one that has released on Creme Organization, Bunker and Strange Life Records, forever mining increasingly exciting house depths since 2005. Now they return with The Family Album on the ever-excellent MOS Recordings. The four track EP starts with 'Ponderosa'; a forward looking, cosmic surfing house cut wired with plenty of smooth electronics and pure jacking energy, before 'Pancake Breakfast' glistens and glints just as much with its firefly synth lines, gurgling baseline and sweet, pixelated melodies. ‘Firetruck Sunday’ is more dense and edgy, never resting in one place for more than a single beat, with chattery drums and claps offset by a rounded, smoothed but acidy bassline. Finally, ‘To The Westfield’ surges and soars through more sci-fi universes as a house groove busies itself below. Four tracks of heavily analogue house for the most knowing of dancefloors, then, as is always the case with this pair!

San Proper, Aroy Dee, - Usher
For its next release, MOS calls on the services of label head Aroy Dee and Perlon/Rush Hour man San Proper to craft a beautiful four track EP entitled “Perfume.” The truth of the matter is, after the friends had enjoyed something of a wild night out in Amsterdam, they returned to San Proper’s studio for a live session which involved a bottle of Scotch! It kicks off with the swirling pads and soft shakers of the title track which immediately sink you into some deep space atmosphere a world away from this one. When kicks do come, they are distant, much like the echoing handclaps, and the whole thing feels like a half-remembered and deepest house dream. The “reprise” version of the same track is even more hollowed out, with less beats, greater echo and a sense of looming melancholia hanging in the air above the swirling sounds below. As for the b-sides, the first is Proper’s Groove mix of “Usher” - it’s a mobile wedge of deep house where the rounded bassline takes centre stage. Around it various melodic stabs add colour and intrigue as it meanders its way forward through classic sounding hi-hat ringlets. It’s mesmerising, of course, but warm and human sounding, too. Finally, Aroy steps up again to provide his melancholy mix of “Usher” which hangs its head more than the Proper version. Here the pads disappear of to infinity and drag you right into their core whilst tense synth sounds wiggle and squiggle in the background. An EP of more mind-melting or heart warming house sounds you are unlikely to hear because Aroy Dee and his MOS are the true masters of future facing, retro-referencing house music...

To celebrate his MOS Deep sub label reaching its tenth release, boss man Aroy Dee has teamed up in the studio with Ma Spaventi for the label’s next release, namely a split 10” featuring two tracks: “Wrecking” and “Mr. Floyd”. First up is Amsterdam's best kept production secret aka Marco “The Doctor” Spaventi. His “Wrecking” is a blisteringly raw house construction with ripping synth lines, delicate hi-hats and slow, crawling kick drums building up to an incendiary, Chicago referencing peak where pinging cow bells shooting in all directions. It’s a bold track designed for maximum dance-floor damage. On the flip, Aroy builds in layers. His “Mr Floyd” is all muted synth growls, clattering percussion and blissful pads. It’s a tortured deep house track that challenges you before really soothing you, but once the inner beauty is revealed; it really has you under an enchanting spell. Another quality release from MOS Deep, this time on highly collectible 10” vinyl

After releasing his Heavens EP, Chicago Skyway is back on MOS deep with another epic release, ranging from melodic deepness to wild-jackin’ dance floor-madness. The Lager EP kicks off with Bad Driver, a raw and solid Chicago-banger with an irresistible driving bass-line, rattling beats and atmospheric strings. Lager is reworked by Steven Tang, another rising star in Chicago's contemporary electronic-music scene, known for his Obsolete Technology imprint and his Verged Sessions on Aestatic Audio.
