Raised in Haifa, Israel, now located in Amsterdam, this duo of sonic explorers have had acclaimed releases on a host of cult labels like Psychostasia, Underground Quality, Dekmantel & many more. Having already released the incredible 'Release The Golem Pt1' & 'Jewsex' on everyone's favourite NYC label, the pair make ready with their most claustrophobic and menacing outing yet. The original version on the A Side stays in the same tempo territory as their Dekmantel classic 'African Flower' but concocts a much more spacious and heady atmosphere, reminiscent of Mark Gage's Vapourspce project. Side B takes us directly to the dancefloor, utilising the same bubbling bass sequence but transposing it onto a devastingly propulsive rhythm track, like the angry cousin of their 'Bleached Roots' and 'Powow' classics. The 12th Downbeat release comes from the south east of Ireland.
Alan Smith is a producer from Waterford with tracks released on D1 Recordings and Elusive Recordings who loves the analogue sound of 90´s and the sound of Detroit.
"Bump together ep" is one super complete release halfway between House music and Techno, Detroit and Sheffield, and between dancefloors and futuristic chillout which owns all the aesthetic parameters that a Downbeat release should be.
Alan delivers a 4 track Ep with hidden, delicate and subtle melodies, minimalist structures and an excellent job with percussion and mixdown.
But if there is one word to describe this release it is "Deep". Layers of synthetic pads, creative basslines and hi-hats in motion provide deepness to this solid release.

Since the beginning we can see an evolution in Jose Rico ´s music. His sound is now more powerful than ever and the structure of his tracks have gained in complexity. The rhythms of his tracks, highly influenced by Chicago House and Detroit in his earlier releases, now are looking at the European 90 ´s electro´nica and dub music, slowing down (even more) the tempo. We can say that the his last releases on Into the the Deep and Off Minor are probably his best works and most mature, so far. “De´ja` Vu”, the 11th Downbeat installment, continues to explore this route. Here we find four emotional and spacey tracks, made by old synths and samplers which takes us back to the early 90 ´s.

several months of "silence", Downbeat is here again. The 3 chairs member, Marcellus Pittman is the man responsible for "Do You Like Music EP". "Our time is now" and "Extra credit", are two detroit-flavoured house tracks with sequences coming from Mars and melancholic keys with the unmistakable Marcellus Pittman mood. The release is closed by "Happy to be here", a gloomy downbeat-Hip hop track made with MPC. There won´t be too many copies pressed, so don´t sleep on this.

Do machines have soul?? Jose Rico and Urtzi bring us the 7th Downbeat release, paying homage to Science fiction and exploring the relation between human beings and machines. The result is a solid exercise of researching with hardware, which brings all the label influences. Jose Rico is the responsible of "Flight to Andrómeda" and "Hiperspace", two obsessive, mechanical but full-of-feeling tracks. Moreover, Urtzi introduces himself with "Ouroboros" and "Terra Luminae", two synthetic tracks with influences from Chicago sound. Four dance music tracks which go straight to the heart and brain.

The title track yearns for that psycho lover to get the hell out of your life for good. It Was The Fried Chicken That Saved Our Sanity (Because The Ghetto Is Sad) is not just a fancy song title. It's one way Chris survived living in the impoverished Mississippi Delta. His momma's fried chicken was magic. No joke. And we round out this sensual EP with Sun of God, which pays homage to the salvation and rare appearance that the sun brings during a long, wicked, brutally-cold Chicago Winter. Enjoy!
