The unmistakable Skatebård classic “The Bells of Mist” has received special remix treatment by Bård’s friend and co-conspirator Lauer. Twice! Accompanying the original are two new takes on the tune, stirring up the heavy grit of the original with some complimentary upbeat melodic rhythms. “Lauer Flute Mix” is a punched up house version with melodic keys and a spacey backdrop, enhancing the playful elements of the track. The “Marshall Mix” adds a distorted gritty touch topped off with classic piano riffs. Together with the memorable dubbed-out disco tune “Farver/Flimrer” also found on CDIII, this release reunites us with two Skatebård hard-to-find-on-wax originals and hot interpretations by Lauer. Following his appearance (albeit in remixed form) on the debut 12" from Keyboard Masher's Pleasure Unit imprint, Norwegian eccentric Skatebard is given the honour of releasing the label's second EP. Apparently all three tracks are vintage cuts from the archive, previously unheard but original recorded straight to tape in his home studio. There's naturally much to enjoy, beginning with the Scandolearic-goes-rave synth-house madness of "React 2 Rhythm" - all urgent, swirling beats, epic synthesizer melodies and mid-'90s US garage influences. There's more surging, nu-disco goes-house fare to be found on "It Goes On & On (The Bassline)", while "Pingu" is a joyous chunk of chugging Scandolearica blessed with tactile shaker percussion and a jaunty, rock solid synth bassline.

Closing the Vivod map series is Alessandro Parisi with this stunning ep, Belmont's Revenge. 3 tracks in his slo mo horror jak trade mark style. Crossfire kicks things off nicely with it's pulsing groove followed by Ravens, a slower, brooding type of soundtrack. Flip over for a remix of Sages by the mighty Mick Wills who has done some nice work here. It builds and builds, perfect for getting lost in the fog and strobe. B2 is the original version from Parisi, a much slower, majestic cathedral horror affair. Awesome stuff all round.

Munich's Martin Matiske started his recording career at fifteen with his stunning ep Stars & Galaxy for DJ Hell's Gigollo Records back in 2002. Here he dons 4 fresh tracks for the Vivod label with his trademark electro sound, somewhere between Dopplereffekt, classical & wave. Kicking off the ep is Die Nibelungen, a sort of speak & spell classical piece with an electro backing track. A2 - Bayerischer Wald is a chord heavy majestic bomb in a 5/4 time signature, maybe a stretch too far for the linear techno dj but that's what makes this ep so interesting. B2 - Virtuosic Mechanic harks back to his previous work on Gigollo Records, a more club orientated track which should do some effective damage on the floor. Rounding things off is Kammermusik, a subtle electro ballad. If you like your electro with a heavy classical influence then this is your ep.

Very cool ep from Skatebard on Vivod ! A mixed bag from the prolific Norwegian producer showing us why he's still at the top of his game. Maskindans kicks things off with some speak & spell funk followed by Hissige Helger, a brooding Chicago style banger sure to tear up some discoteques across the planet. On the flip are Langbolgen and Gloymde Skogar. The former is an acid style work out, the latter is more of a subtle, hypnotyizing opus. All very strong tracks. Don't sleep on this. They will go fast ! More
