el_txef_a - Claim Of Planet Earth (El_Txef_A's Tree Of Life)
Forbidden Colours is proud to announce the final remix pack for El_Txef_A’s sophomore album “We Walked Home Together”. After 2 remix EPs featuring Eduardo De La Calle, The Black Madonna, Lake People, Ada, HRDVSION and Bostro Pesopeo to name a few, the label is wrapping up the remix triptych with yet another impressive run of artists. Kompakt co-owner Reinhard Voigt delivers a weird, dry yet easy and acid influenced reinterpretation of “The Love We Lost”. Dave DK is the first one to rework “Mugarrirantz” showing his love for the Basque Country. The song which is written in Euskara, the Basque language is beautifully composed. Bringing in the analog and classic flavor is Damian Schwartz with a classic mpc sound for “Claim Of Planet Earth”. Finally, El_Txef_A also worked on a reinterpretation giving the same track a mystic feel reminiscent of Orbital’s first albums.

On the back of an exciting debut album in 2012 that saw him perform live at Sonar festival and later with his band at Vienna's Volkstheatre, before disseminating music on Permanent Vacation, Suol and Connaisseur Recordings, enigmatic Basque Country producer El_Txef_A returns with his sophomore longplayer 'We Walked Home Together'. El_Txef_A (pronounced "Elchefa") has crafted a work that just like its journey-conjuring title, charts a shifting palette of sounds and moods, exemplifying its creator Aitor Etxebarria's breadth of skill. Produced entirely in Aitor's homeland of the mountainous Basque Country, the album showcases the talents of not just its creator who producers, sings and plays piano on the record, but also some of the Spanish region's most outstanding musicians. Local artist Biskonti is one contributor, whose vocals coat a brooding bed of rough-cut drums on the ice-cold slice of electronica 'I'm Going to Paint You', while Hannot lends his pipes to the moving 'You Left Us In This Physical World' that sweep over a delicately crafted brew of guitars and keys. Both Basque vocalists featured on El_Txef_A's debut 'Slow Dancing in a Burning Room'. Sublime title track 'We Walked Home Together' turns into a family affair, with Aitor's brother Hibai playing the grand piano. A graduate at 2013's Red Bull Music Academy in Madrid, El_Txef_A has an impressive array of sonic strings to his bow and the Detroit techno inspired 'Claim of Planet Earth' deliciously rubs shoulders with the album's single, the alternative slice of pop 'The Love We Lost' featuring DFA's Woofly. Elsewhere, Aitor paints a dream-like soundscape with the sublime shoegaze-inspired trip '0730' that seamlessly bleeds into 'Every Day Is Blue Monday', with its atmosphere-heavy swirl of subtle acid lines, floating synths and evocative vocals delivered by Suol records contributor Meggy. An artist whose music is inextricably connected with his homeland, the album concludes with the stirring 'Mugarrirantz' sung in the native tongue of Euskera by country folk band Napora Iria. It's proof that El_Txef_A is equally adept at doffing his cap to tradition as moving a dancefloor with his inspired brand of electronica. More

Now is the time for Aitor Etxebarria, better known as El_Txef_A to expose his innermost feelings, as he's already begun to on releases from labels like Hypercolour, Suol and Wazi Wazi. This time, he is undoubtedly on his best of form. Aitor, born and raised in the Basque Country, is in that group of artists sparingly measuring their output, always searching for the new, aiming for high quality instead of constant, monotonous releases. After years of dedicated work, El_Txef_A announces his debut album "Slow Dancing In A Burning Room". El_Txef_A stands for a specific and complex sound signature. His primary concern to develop a sound that people can identify with as well as just simply enjoy freely. Continuing in the Bilbao tradition, he is building a base of pure sampled sounds with studio sessions, live musicians and vocals to complement his production. Collaborations with vocalist Bisconti and Hannot supplies added depth to tracks like "Rise and Fall", and previous single "Lovely Minds" or "Save The World". A true milestone in this young Basque artist's career, we are proud to present the fruits of his labours, "Slow Dancing In A Burning Room".

In the cracks that sprawl between electronic and analog music, visual art, and craft creation, Yamila dances on the edge of sound and conceptual heights. The Spanish composer, cellist, singer and producer is based between Belgium, Holland and Spain. In recent years Yamila has created music for contemporary dance productions in places such as The Gothenburg Opera, Netherlands Dans Theater, and Dance Forum Taipei, among others. Her projects have been presented at festivals such as Sonic Acts Festival (Amsterdam), Arts Electronica (Linz), Seoul International Computer Music Festival, STRP Festival (Eindhoven), and Today's Art festival (The Hague) to name a few. With 'Iras Fajro' (Forbidden Colours), her debut album, Yamila, summons in 11 songs with the strength of electronic sounds in front of a fragile voice that at times unfolds in small coral clusters. The brilliant electronic arpeggios and rhythms dissolve in the velvety voices of the cello, which are sometimes intertwined with the creations of two collaborators, the British producer and composer Clark (Warp) and the multifaceted ex- flamenco Nin~o de Elche (Sony). My love wears forbidden colours My life believes My love wears forbidden colours My life believes in you once again

“Everything is sound in the material world. You and me, we are vibrations” Sampling, strife and spirituality - three notions that form the basics of Eduardo’s lifestyle. De la Calle is back on Forbidden Colours, again flaunting his connection with El_Txef_A. The release consists of three original cuts. On the A Side at 45 rpm is the energy and freneticism of 'Hobson’s Choice': "Because a person may refuse to accept what is offered, the two options are taking it or taking nothing" On the B side, the sublime 'Paradox of Choice' leads with a strange kick loop and astral synthesizers followed by 'Transportation Forecasting', where a classic 4x4 kick is paired with analog recordings to depict a more colorful setting.

after more than 10 years releasing music under the pseudonym of “El_Txef_A” the enigmatic Basque musician is ready to open a new era with his first solo record as Aitor Etxebarria. Markak (Soundtrack from the Motion Picture) is Aitor’s first original work for Cinema. After the premiere of the documentary on the San Sebastian international film Festival (https://www.sansebastianfestival.com/2016/sections_and_films/etb_screenings/8/in), a limited amount of vinyls will be released this April coinciding with the 80th anniversary of the bombing of Gernika (one of the main themes of the documentary). Composed and recorded on the Basque Country, Aitor stopped for a few months his full schedule of tours to focus just on the film score. If it’s “marks” what we’re talking about, in the case of Gernika the bombing suffered on 26th April 1937 is a deep and lasting mark of profound symbolic value. For the creation a number of internal symbolic norms are essential, necessary to lend meaning to our enviroment. The creator creates on the basis of the stories he has received, the images, the feelings. Gernika’s past is a field for creation amongst Gernika’s young people. The documentary explores what these young creators “have locked away inside them”, their emotions. The bombing is a wall in the life of people, an interruption. It is a violence that breaks away from peaceful routine, a denial of the freedom to choose that a people and its inhabitants should have. Contrasting with this is democracy, the political system that guarantees the freedom of people.

Hailing from Reynosa, Mexico and the Lower Rio Grande Valley in Texas, Andres Aguirre has been a lifelong devotee for music and audio production. He became a radio host of an electronic music show and production director for the student-run 91.7 FM station in Austin, and his longtime passion for playing and collecting music linked Andres with the Forbidden Colours family from long ago. Aguirre returns to Forbidden Colours - this time with a solo EP concept crafted with as much love for the dance floor as it is for the casual living room listener. Situated somewhere in the realm of deep house with a touch of techno, the rich harmonies and vivid textures take you through a hypnotic trip composed of spacey electronic tracks, smooth songs, and adventurous interludes.

Forbidden Colours and Eduardo De La Calle join forces again, this time for a solo ep from De la Calle. Colour Planet Corporation contains 3 original trippy and minimalistic cuts. To wrap things up, label boss El_Txef_A made a dusty remix that brings a perfect balance to the release.
