Rhythm Section International proudly presents it’s 8th offering from local boys Chaos in the CBD. Born in New Zealand, but based in Peckham for the last few years (literally just around the corner from Henry Wu and Bradley Zero), these brothers have made a real mark on the scene here in London town and with their latest set of productions are set to take this message further afield.

Having already released internationally on labels such as ClekClekBoom (Paris), Hot Haus (London) and Amadeus (Montreal), the duo’s approach to production has matured immeasurably in the last year, as is evident in the restrained potency and poetic subtlety on the 4 tracks across this accomplished EP, Midnight in Peckham.

Taking it’s title from the locale the boys have come to know as home, the record channels a delicate late night energy - equally indebted to the hypnotic incantations of Ron Trent as it is to the hazy suburban atmospheres of Burial. These 4 classic cuts pay homage to deep house in it’s truest sense - at once sublime, melancholy and meditative . Chaos in the CBD have clearly taken their cue from the mid-west masters of the genre but have not been afraid to let their own influences and environ creep in, and in doing so have created something that is unmistakablely London and infact, timeless.

This classy Deep House track has a warm and deep rolling bass line and beautifully layered keys. Washed over with a stunning flute accompaniment from long-term collaborator and legendary jazz musician Nathan Haines which adds the extra magic to this outstanding production.

Outdoor Limit
On the B-side the boys deliver a slightly darker, mischievous and moody roller with ‘Outdoor Limit’ - an 8 minute journey through minimal grooves, in what feels like the perfect soundscape for getting lost in a dark room in the small hours. More

Peckham-based DJ and producer duo Chaos In The CBD have announced their new 12” ‘Come Together / Digital Sound’ on their In Dust We Trust imprint, out October 28th 2019.
Consisting of New Zealand brothers Ben and Louis Helliker-Hales, the duo’s new release features two excellently crafted club cuts that display their flair for creating deep house soundscapes, from the jacking, percussive heavy hitter ‘Come Together’ which features searing synths and a fierce bassline, to the expressive rhythmic stylings of ‘Digital Sound’, which features driving percussion and atmospheric synths.
Since moving to Peckham in 2012, the duo quickly became an integral part of the South London electronic community with their standout releases, including records on Rhythm Section, Mule Musiq and their own In Dust We Trust imprint, which they co-founded with fellow kiwi producer Jon Sable. This combined with the infectious energy of their magnetic and accomplished DJ sets have propelled them to play at some of the best clubs worldwide.
Chaos In The CBD say: “The purpose of IDWT has always been to serve as an outlet to release our own music without being at the mercy of external labels, whilst also retaining full control of the project both musically and aesthetically. Our goal has always been to release timeless music that we will be proud of for decades to come.”
With their new release, Chaos In The CBD continue their rise as refreshing producers in the electronic scene, and look set to close out 2019 on a high with a jam-packed worldwide tour ahead, including their In Dust We Trust label tour, and stops at Tokyo, Melbourne, Bali and London. More

Chaos In The CBD's Ben & Louis Helliker-Hales team up with long-time friend and collaborator Jon Sable to present their new imprint ‘In Dust We Trust.’

In Dust We Trust is an ode to a collection of friends who share a certain understanding, who live by a love and respect for the people around them. That friend who saves that last puff for you, that friend who will share their drink with you when you can't afford your own, that friend who will learn how to drive a car on the spot because you're too drunk to make it home.

Kicking things off with a release from Chaos In The CBD, ‘Accidental Meetings’ is a record that celebrates this way of living. The four cuts effortlessly move you through a journey of delicate textures and atmospheres. It begins with the late night basement sounds of the title track, then sends you through the spacious and meditative ‘North Pole Cafe.’ The wild rhythms of ‘United Identities’ hypnotise you, until you find yourself spat out by the energetic grooves of ‘Distorted Fields.’

Play it in the club, play it in the hotbox, or play it for your mum, this record is filled with soulful, rhythmically complex, melancholic music that is unmistakably dusty. More

Slow and smooth build up with an intense but mellow peak that just goes on and on. It fills you with empathy and intense sensation heightening. SWIM smoked a joint halfway through and melted into the couch. It’s perfect for a rolling party with a group of friends, though SWIM imagines it would be great for a proper party too. Sometimes SWIM felt like dancing, but spent most of the time staring into space. This is really nice, intense, smooth and mellow. Get ahold of these if you get the chance!

this time the new zealand natives present different atmospheric spheres. the a-side tune “comfort zone” is a slow house burner enlarged with bird sounds, flute melodies and super warm bass power. on the opposite, their track “educate the hear” marries dub atmospheres and four-to-the-floor grooves, without giving up the hotness that dub music got to offer.

Bendy Acidic Winners from this clued Parisian crew.... a flighty white that might no be around for so long. The label say: 'Chaos in CBD are like water, they can take any shape they want! From a subtle and silky house vibe to more thuggish techno, the boys love to challenge themselves. It's with this latest flavor that the New Zealanders are back in ClekClekBoom territory. The first track, "Trial Rider", hits like a sleepy snake, with its crying bassline and a hypnotic rhythm pattern taking over the track, while a vocal shouts "Spin it backwards" all along this contagious jam. On the B side, "Trial Rider (Ayo Bitch)", injects more mesmerizing liquid synths to the original version for a solid dub. We can imagine how effective these two DJ tools can be on a floor around 6 AM... ! Amadeus sees itself yet again graced by the California-gone-Berlin coastal confidant, Stephen Huerta. Preparing his fourth record for the imprint, Huerta sets a mood of what is to be his best record to date. Bringing along fellow expatriate and Berlin-based producer Youandewan (of Secret Sundaze and Aus Music fame) along with him. Aside and forefront club-track, “Mandala,” carries itself through chugging shakers and pad-work, held tightly in place by the squelchy, off-kilter lead. The tune never quite sits still, bubbling about by each percolating percussive layer. Backed by what was jokingly coined the “California Garage Track,” “Eistee” is at best the chiller-fitting you would want. Jacking percussion and complimenting drum
programming give this track It’s toughness. The Bside houses the first collaboration from the two. With the intro’s minimally-structured progression, “Apache Line,” only reaches its incline after the minute mark. Spring delayed and filtered heavily, the track’s wonky lead bleeds through as if to enrapture you in its thermal clutch. Wrapping up the record we’ve asking Youandewan to add the floor-readied “Yo Endlos.” The track is definitively what you would want as a closer; simplicity in its step but tightness throughout its progression. Cromie's quietly become one of LA's most vital house producers. Following a killer debut for NYC-based label Peach alongside fellow Eastsider Sage Caswell (with a remix by none other than Kyle MF Hall), he's been patiently honing his craft. His unique, amped-up vision of house music comes into full view with his Amadeus debut, At Interfaces. Cromie, real name Nikola Hlady, is liberal with the soulful samples. In his case, they're simply a flourish to his fully formed productions. Take the title track. In the breakdown, he introduces a beautiful saxophone solo and the occasional vocal, but they serve only compliment the massive bassline and percolating pads which form the backbone of the song. With Onda, Cromie's melodic gift is on display. A vibraphone lead takes us down a path to some beautiful, nostalgic chords. The B-side is all fascinating rhythms, for the DJs. "Tariff" is pure peak-time business. For the closer, "Clear To Me," he's roped in James Del Barco, with whom he throws underground raves in LA. The B2, or 'inside cut,' mixes a hyperactive 2-step kick with a jacking snare and just the right amount of LA G-funk action, with a sampled diva sweetening the mix.
