Bendy Acidic Winners from this clued Parisian crew.... a flighty white that might no be around for so long. The label say: 'Chaos in CBD are like water, they can take any shape they want! From a subtle and silky house vibe to more thuggish techno, the boys love to challenge themselves. It's with this latest flavor that the New Zealanders are back in ClekClekBoom territory. The first track, "Trial Rider", hits like a sleepy snake, with its crying bassline and a hypnotic rhythm pattern taking over the track, while a vocal shouts "Spin it backwards" all along this contagious jam. On the B side, "Trial Rider (Ayo Bitch)", injects more mesmerizing liquid synths to the original version for a solid dub. We can imagine how effective these two DJ tools can be on a floor around 6 AM... Like a slippery U.F.O. between House and Techno, we can't be sure what these young ones just did to our ears - but hey, how can water be labeled?'

Chaos In The CBD - Luxury Motivation
2024 Repress!
Rhythm Section International proudly presents it’s 8th offering from local boys Chaos in the CBD. Born in New Zealand, but based in Peckham for the last few years (literally just around the corner from Henry Wu and Bradley Zero), these brothers have made a real mark on the scene here in London town and with their latest set of productions are set to take this message further afield.
Having already released internationally on labels such as ClekClekBoom (Paris), Hot Haus (London) and Amadeus (Montreal), the duo’s approach to production has matured immeasurably in the last year, as is evident in the restrained potency and poetic subtlety on the 4 tracks across this accomplished EP, Midnight in Peckham.
Taking it’s title from the locale the boys have come to know as home, the record channels a delicate late night energy - equally indebted to the hypnotic incantations of Ron Trent as it is to the hazy suburban atmospheres of Burial. These 4 classic cuts pay homage to deep house in it’s truest sense - at once sublime, melancholy and meditative . Chaos in the CBD have clearly taken their cue from the mid-west masters of the genre but have not been afraid to let their own influences and environ creep in, and in doing so have created something that is unmistakablely London and infact, timeless.

Following on from their Fabric presents mix compilation and a busy summer of touring, including 2x sold out All Night Long shows in London - Chaos In The CBD return with 'Outdoor Limit’ to complete the 'Sirena Deep’ EP on their much loved In Dust We Trust imprint.
Sirena Deep

Chaos In The CBD's Ben & Louis Helliker-Hales team up with long-time friend and collaborator Jon Sable to present their new imprint ‘In Dust We Trust.’
In Dust We Trust is an ode to a collection of friends who share a certain understanding, who live by a love and respect for the people around them. That friend who saves that last puff for you, that friend who will share their drink with you when you can't afford your own, that friend who will learn how to drive a car on the spot because you're too drunk to make it home.
Kicking things off with a release from Chaos In The CBD, ‘Accidental Meetings’ is a record that celebrates this way of living. The four cuts effortlessly move you through a journey of delicate textures and atmospheres. It begins with the late night basement sounds of the title track, then sends you through the spacious and meditative ‘North Pole Cafe.’ The wild rhythms of ‘United Identities’ hypnotise you, until you find yourself spat out by the energetic grooves of ‘Distorted Fields.’
Play it in the club, play it in the hotbox, or play it for your mum, this record is filled with soulful, rhythmically complex, melancholic music that is unmistakably dusty. More

Chaos In The CBD - Digital Sound
Repress!
Peckham-based DJ and producer duo Chaos In The CBD have announced their new 12” ‘Come Together / Digital Sound’ on their In Dust We Trust imprint, out October 28th 2019.
Consisting of New Zealand brothers Ben and Louis Helliker-Hales, the duo’s new release features two excellently crafted club cuts that display their flair for creating deep house soundscapes, from the jacking, percussive heavy hitter ‘Come Together’ which features searing synths and a fierce bassline, to the expressive rhythmic stylings of ‘Digital Sound’, which features driving percussion and atmospheric synths.
Since moving to Peckham in 2012, the duo quickly became an integral part of the South London electronic community with their standout releases, including records on Rhythm Section, Mule Musiq and their own In Dust We Trust imprint, which they co-founded with fellow kiwi producer Jon Sable. This combined with the infectious energy of their magnetic and accomplished DJ sets have propelled them to play at some of the best clubs worldwide.
Chaos In The CBD say: “The purpose of IDWT has always been to serve as an outlet to release our own music without being at the mercy of external labels, whilst also retaining full control of the project both musically and aesthetically. Our goal has always been to release timeless music that we will be proud of for decades to come.”
With their new release, Chaos In The CBD continue their rise as refreshing producers in the electronic scene, and look set to close out 2019 on a high with a jam-packed worldwide tour ahead, including their In Dust We Trust label tour, and stops at Tokyo, Melbourne, Bali and London. More

Slow and smooth build up with an intense but mellow peak that just goes on and on. It fills you with empathy and intense sensation heightening. SWIM smoked a joint halfway through and melted into the couch. It’s perfect for a rolling party with a group of friends, though SWIM imagines it would be great for a proper party too. Sometimes SWIM felt like dancing, but spent most of the time staring into space. This is really nice, intense, smooth and mellow. Get ahold of these if you get the chance!
Note: Your experience will vary depending on your settings. If you're in a bad place with bad people, you won’t feel a thing. More

the in-demand duo chaos in the cbd is back on mule musiq with another breath-taking ep.
this time the new zealand natives present different atmospheric spheres. the a-side tune “comfort zone” is a slow house burner enlarged with bird sounds, flute melodies and super warm bass power. on the opposite, their track “educate the hear” marries dub atmospheres and four-to-the-floor grooves, without giving up the hotness that dub music got to offer.
their third tune “pressure” brings in, what is always needed in a club: funk that shakes the booty. and this wrapped in a gentle house track that stays calm while spreading hard to resist dance emo-tions.
a heartfelt produced ep with three kind heavy hitters that come around for good. More

Amadeus sees it's catalogue graced yet again by New Zealand outfit Chaos In The CBD. The kiwi brothers, birthed Ben & Louis Helliker-Hales, are no new faces to the label, or the wide variety of genre-bending acronyms they encompass. Having recently relocated from tropical Auckland to damp London earlier this year, the two take their productions along with them in their latest efforts, 816 To Nunhead. Title track and aside, "816 To Nunhead," is tinged with what's left of summer. A nostalgic tune built for the sun and soaked in funk. It's a track reminiscent of early french disco, almost as if built for the two robots themselves. Guitar plucks and hi hats flow seamlessly throughout the tune, aided by a glorifying vocal, "I would like to think of my music as just an extension, an extension of me of today or whatever." What emotion of freedom and escape evoked on the Aside can be contrasted on the flip, "78 To Stanley Bay," a tune built behind the every looming theme of loneliness. Accompanied by a live trumpet courtesy of Isaac Aseeli, '78 To Stanley Bay' tells us a story, or rather a journey, built behind dirty hats and delayed keys. This is a track fashioned for everywhere but the club, and we absolutely love that.

NSDOS is back with some new toys from outer space - on this EP we hear six figments of his twisted imagination, caught live ....
On this very dense and captivating EP, Kirikoo Des goes back to the 90's with some cut up electronica flair ("Christine +2", "Dona J Haraway") reminiscing Oval's work or some experimental Shake Shakir tunes. The longest tracks though feels closer to a club from the future with some eerie pads ("Fa") and liquid rhythms patterns typical of the NSDOS touch we love ("Yuko"). Overall this EP is a much cerebral effort and yet still keeps a vibrant and gorgeous organic side to it. Demanding the full attention of the listener, the reward in the end is a total bliss taking us in a deep dimension. "Space is the place" as the master Sun Ra once said! More

Something's happening in the eastern part of France, some analog boogie vibes were sent to the CCB camp and we felt obliged to release them on our next white label 12" in the series. The troublemaker going by the name of Caslau is a new comer who delivers two fresh cuts designed to please your ears and stomp your feet. The A side, "Error 1", is a muddy swim into the Detroit pool, some distant sonic layers cleverly assembled upon nasty rhythmic synth stabs and a warm serpentine bass-line. The cold reverb of the production produce a real balanced effect with the soulful elements contained in the whole structure. On the B side, "Error 4" continue down the same path, but this time focusing more toward the drums section, where the famous quote "more cowbell please" could be use for this infectious tool who bring analog sexiness ready for hard to please deejays. A straight to the point record and very efficient, no "error" here!

This one is a taste of things to come from the ClekClekBoom camp, a ready to use 'Various Cuts' EP made by deejays for deejays. A solid wax with different weapons including already known CCB producers and extended family. For this first volume, French Fries teams up with NSDOS on a hypnotic jam, bringing Chicago's percussive legacy in a 90's NYC ballroom. Then we got Aleqs Notal going deep with a new batch of his lunar material where tripping synths meet spaced out hi-hats. On the flip Jean Nipon provides his drummer background to display some infectious rhythms colliding with a shuffling syncopated bass, while Barbara Ford takes us through a heavy mesmerizing acid jam tunnel… Overall a deep and yet club-material experience representing perfectly what ClekClekBoom has to offer today.

french fries - 2. Change the Past (Chevel Remix)
"While the 'Kepler' planter is still investigated it's time to get some reports from the ongoing interplanetary mission. Remixing tracks is not an easy task and only solid cosmic craftsmanship would do the job. The ClekClekBoom orbital station has luckily found two special extra crew members for this tricky and delicate operation. Planet A sector is covered by an already legend among electronic music producers, the man Fred P from NYC. His reshape of 'Change the Past' takes us to a nebulous journey filled with a multitude of sonic details and surrounded by some dreamy astral pads. Less dark than the original version, this slow jam keep an infectious rhythm steady all along and would be perfect for a rooftop session when the sun hit the sky. The Planet B sector is occupied by an italian prodigy, the not-so new comer Chevel. Playing with the cryptic 'Change the Past' vocals, his mix turn the track into a minimal boogie affair toned down by subtle key chords and interstellar bleeps pulsating around heavy toms drums. The next exoplanet being at billions light years away, enjoy these two supernovas while waiting during the trip…"

DJ, producer, all-round music connoisseur and entertainer, Jean Nipon, drops a dope new EP on ClekClekBoom after his first effort for the label released in late 2012. This is a brand new sound for him and quite a big move from the functional future bass aesthetics he then designed. The "Nice Seeing You" EP is all about unfossilized beats, shady, reminiscent vibrations from an entirely fictional past and a taste for used-ness and aging when it comes to textures. Shaky drums and hi hats sound as if they'd been cured in ancient jars and keyboards work like lo-fi, mystical instruments from electronic primitive tribes. These are four house grooves that you can dance to, but not just only in a club – as well as in a inner space of yours, in some place dedicated to uplifting melancholy and ecstatic introspection. This moves in a different way that most of the dance music you hear these days, since it's both oblique and not focussed on the effect it's supposed to generate. Four touching tracks from someone who likes his house deep, remote and brittle.

Ministre X is back again on his own label, ClekClekBoom, to supply Paris’ house & bass haven’s with its 14th official release. After his lush, club friendly debut ‘Calling Me’ Ministre has teamed up with long-time affiliate, the Parisian pianist and self-proclaimed dandy, Mattias Mimoun under the moniker ‘Aethority’. Put together over late-night sessions in the ClekClekBoom studio, the Aethority EP draws from wide variety of influences, both in and outside of dance music, for a weighty and unique double track release. A-side ‘Niceness’ uses a percussive blend of tricked out field recordings and samples to create a shuffling, dub-techno vibe before the drums drain away to make way for a lush, rippling synth which excitedly builds once again before the drums drop back in. B-side ‘Get Busy’, the first track the pair produced together, combines a classic UK garage style vocal, scuttling hats and an ominous, analog textured synth line before a beefy acid-dripping bassline drops in, enhancing the groove.
The pair is already back in the studio readying new material for release so be ready for more original, bustling dancefloor grooves. To be released on both vinyl & digital. More
