2014 saw Debukas receive critical acclaim thanks to his debut album, ‘I am Machinery’, on 2020Vision, and the subsequent remix album featuring a stellar lineup including Ripperton, JD Twitch and Tuff City Kids. The year also saw Debukas entertain crowds at Fabric, Moog Club and Sonar by Night. 2015 sees the ‘one-man synth orchestra’ return with an EP on his new Glasgow/Inverness based imprint, 2Sox. With the Transparent Living EP, Debukas focuses his gaze on the dancefloor throughout. Imagine a late night Detroit taxi took a wrong turn and ended up in Glasgow. LMBA opens up with deep synth layers and a driving rhythm before letting it’s hooky off-kilter melody take hold. Sunning is all about the molten hot Jupiter 6 bassline and live hi-hats, with hits of string chords adding to the mutant mix of disco and early techno. Title track Transparent Living draws deeply on classic Atkins and Passarani, the soundtrack to many an intoxicated Glasgow sunrise. Gnork rounds the EP off with a hypnotic rework in his unique space house style, heard recently on his widely praised material for Blind Jack’s Journey and Bokhari. Debukas is set to ramp it up a notch in 2015; with a hot release planned for 2020Vision and a series of releases pencilled in for the 2Sox label. Expect similar vibes over the year as Debukas and his label partner, Aldo, aim to work with like-minded artists for certified belterous releases.

Debukas follows up his critically acclaimed album with this excellent remix compilation. His music is a dream to remix, full of analogue synth parts and soulful vocals so it's not difficult to find people who want to remix him. The fact that all the mixes are top quality is testament to this and also the skills of some producers on top of their games. With the likes of Tuff City Kids, Optimo, DJ Nature and Acid Mondays on board this is a serious remix collection.

Debukas follows up his two critically acclaimed EP's with another superb emission of underground electronics with a pop sensibility. His way of approaching electronic music been compared to the likes of John Talabot, Caribou and Hot Chip in the way he mixes his pop and underground influences. And with a history that ranges from top of the pops appearances to twisted Detroit electro and with a grounding in classic house and techno, he's suitably placed to explore such wide ranging influences from Arthur Russell to Yello to Model 500. People might wear their analogue credentials on their sleeves these days, but for Debukas the music making process has always featured miles of wires, unreliable synths and hardware drum machines, which can all be seen on his youtube tribute videos. He also brings this same process to his original material, mixing his voice with his machines during long jam sessions which form the basis of his music. Reach Out Feel is one of his more club ready tracks, exploring his housier leanings, but retaining the trademark Debukas musicality . It comes with a very handy acapella of Reach Out Feel. Love Plant cuts up his vocals into a signature leftfield house groove and builds up to a more jackin' finale. Satellite is one of his most beautiful laid-back tracks with the nearest thing to a full vocal we can expect from him, the way he extracts real emotion from his synths on this track is breathtaking.

Debukas might be a new name to enter the music scene, a quick google reveals just a remix of The Wild Beast and guest vocals on Simon Baker’s recent album, but he’s got a colourful and varied past.Debukas is the first solo project where he has been able to blend his love of underground electronics, leftfield pop and more importantly showcase his superb vocals. The music is strongly informed by the original Chicago and Detroit sounds of Larry Heard and Carl Craig but equally classic electronics from the likes of Yello, Gino Soccio and Klein & MBO. His vocals come to the fore in soulful bursts of song, and also in the very fabric of the tracks as percussion, riffs, melodies and FX, making his music instantly recognisable but also totally original. A self confessed analogue freak, (check the youtube footage of his Model 500, Aaron Carl and Nitzer Ebb tributes) he creates a rich, warm sound, that can only come from years of knob twiddling on vintage synths

...aaaand we’re back. It’s taken us a little longer than it should have to get this third release together, but OH MY was it worth the wait. We’ve rounded up a few of our favourite oddballs to construct the first 2Sox compilation release, aptly titled “OddSox Vol. 1”. TELESKOP starts us off on a rampant 7500 light year joyride to neighbouring star system Eta Carinae, with a tune as dazzling and potentially volatile as the place itself. We’ve loved this tune since first listen. No rest for the elbows. Tom Churchill is one half of The Nuclear Family and former boss man at the much lauded experimental electronic dance labels Headspace and Emoticon. Relax into our interstellar voyage with his melodic groover Sidetracked (Remix) and feel the glide with sumptuous pads and piano. On remix duties we have another Glasgow boy Sparky has recently been lighting up the globe with his expertly crafted releases for the mighty Numbers and Optimo Trax labels. Taking on TELESKOP’s tune, he twists the groove and injects a dose of fear into the cosmic space ride as we approach the nebula. A pleasure to have his touch on this release. 2Sox co-boss and recent entrant into the CHURCH Records camp, Debukas takes us in for landing, rewarding our safe passage with his self-styled ‘Cantina Band’, Live Sox Show.
