Brassfoot's first two outings on Apron - the Lord Tusk hook-up Space Invaders, and last year's untitled EP - were typically unfussy. "Unlucky Charms", the opening salvo of this third release for Funkineven's imprint, takes a similar approach, with vintage electro motifs underpinning distorted percussion and wild electronics. Elsewhere, his trademark fuzziness is applied in a number of contrasting ways, from the clanking, locked-in, rave-inspired throb of "Retune & Runaway", to the bizarre sonic assault that is crusty closer "Black Pow Wow". For pace purposes, he also offers a breather in the shape of jazz-tinged deep house shuffler "Lost In The Sauce".
