After an inconsistent hiatus from recording, the Norwegian DJ has finally donned the producer cap resolutely for his debut LP. Echo to Echo promises to be the artist's magnum opus, taking on epic proportions in the album narrative. Prins Thomas' Full Pupp family plays hosts to The Norwegian DJ's infectious disco arrangements as it has done since Magnus and Danny "Blackbelt" Anderson first worked together as Kalle, Magnus and Daniel. Tracing a line from those early days through his first solo work Kosmetisk, Echo to Echo sees the producer combining the foundation of his sound with cues from the likes of Warp's early catalogue, transposing it into the singular voice that is Magnus International. "I wanted to go back to Techno from my Youth." Burrowing inspiration from the likes of LFO and Aphex Twin, Magnus spent two years in the studio refining a hybrid album that is ingrained in disco, but grows its own spots with the acid-infected synth work and inventive beat arrangements that were the signature trademarks of those early pioneers. Titles like Big Red and Echo to Echo are clear nods to these demi-gods of music, which Magnus makes his own in the context of a disco long-player. It's an album built on the foundation of Magnus' strengths as an experienced producer, innovator and DJ. Forged in the caldron of Techno's rich history, with Magnus' distinct style playing host, Echo to Echo takes the listener on journey that transcends time. "If I can hop into my Delorean and punch in a destination, five years from now, I want my music to have the same effect." Title is Nu-disco as new Disco, with 'new' always being relative to the future destination of the time-defying Delorean. 8 years after DJ Sotofett's last visit to our label(FPST1) we received some tracks perfectly timed AND
perfectly primed for that elusive number 75 release.
This time teaming up with Rex Ronny, we're stoked to have him back and even more
stoked about the music engraved in these grooves.
DJ Sotofett and Rex Ronny embodies a solid 7 track EP for Full Pupp with a strong Sci-Fi pallet of Cosmic-Italo racers. "Epidermis" is not another conjectural Nu-Disco record but a strong Disco-Dub infused travel in rhythm and melody. The entirety of the EP is bound together by four Galactic synth tracks and three driving Disco cuts, all with an individual approach. It's a solid nod to the excellence producers of Italian Disco and UK left-of-center dance music has taught us since the late 70's. Rex Ronny (aka Ronny Nyheim from PsyPal fame) was challenged by DJ Sotofett to play all synth parts live in the studio, for Sotofett to mix the material in his new studio set up for ultimate Cosmic, Dance & Dub sonics. To perfect the rhythm suction, congas by Stiletti-Ana (from Jesse) was added in the mix, and LNS contributed with a harmony-bridge for maximum pathos.

Featuring three peak-time dance floor tracks, Syklon is a release that speaks to discerning dance floor connoisseurs in emphatic fashion.

Anyone who’s followed Ivaylo’s musical career to date will know that this is a man who values quality and eclecticism above all else. Raised in Bulgaria but now firmly based in Oslo, the Jaeger resident has really been finding his feet of late, playing alongside some of the scene’s best-known names and consistently putting out expert sounds courtesy of his Bogota label. 2019, however is the year that the producer’s sounds are sure to reach a new audience still. Indeed, his first solo release of the year comes at us here courtesy of fellow Oslo dweller Prins Thomas’s always on-point Full Pupp imprint. Featuring three classy tracks that explore the producer’s many influences, this one is every bit as exciting as we’d anticipated.
It’s the dubby, weighty sounds of ‘Syklon’ that get the release underway. Notable for its classy drums and unlikely turn of pace around the halfway point, it’s an innovative track that speaks volumes of Ivaylo’s knack for taking chances—and being greatly rewarded for doing so. Kicking off on a fairly innocuous tip, it morphs into a full-bodied techno workout thanks to some expert synths and an old-school vocal.
‘Aerodynamisk’ is another impressive battle weapon, with this one drenched in positive, sun-glistened sounds and emotive overtones. Banging but also deep in parts, it walks the tightrope between two very different strands with an impressive distinction. Like ‘Syklon’ before it, it refuses to stand still and opt for a straightforward approach, with this one also taking the listener on a wild ride over the course of its 6-or-so minutes. Culminating the release is ‘Karla’, a baseline-led jam that really comes to life with the piano keys come into play. A catchy jam that’s hard not to fall for, this one is full of enticing, mysterious vibes from the off. An imaginative listen from start to finish, Ivaylo’s latest truly is a release worth treasuring.
