"Love will remember Pharaon de Winter", it says at the very end of this record.

Pharaon de Winter was a relatively unsuccessful painter from Northern France. Today it's the name of a band, but also the name of the song that changed its author's life. The ex-leader of the bands Toy Fight and (Please) Don't Blame Mexico - the E.Ps First Aid and Michel Foucault, and the album Concorde, in 2011, with the hit song 'The Protocol' - Maxime Chamoux's musical style could be placed somewhere between North-American rock, Spoon, Neutral Milk Hotel, and Prefab Spout and XTC's sophisticated Brit-pop.

Then, he decided to cut his ties loose: "I was starting to get bored of indie rock and wanted something different", he explains. "I wanted to sing in French. I wanted to use more beautiful chords. For several months, I searched for a new shape and colour to give to these new songs. And one day, I had a kind of revelation. It was called Pharaon de Winter. From that day on, all the music I loved came together in a particular weave".

Now the record is here and features ten songs naturally uniting influences ranging from the popular to the edgy: William Sheller's precise writing, Lucio Battisti's warmth, Steely Dan's refined groove, Arthur Russell's sense of adventure, Véronique Sanson's feel for melody.

The songs travel from French - mainly - to English - a few.

" Love will remember Pharaon de Winter " is said at the end of the record.
Pharaon de Winter was a painter from North of France, who lived from the end of the XIXth century to the beginning of the XXth century.
Today, Pharaon de Winter is reappearing again. It's a band, but also the name of a song, which changed everything for his author. Past leader of both bands Toy Fight and (Please), Maxime Chamoux was playing since now a genre between North American rock of Spoon and Neutral Milk Hotel, and sophisticated British pop from Prefab Sprout or XTC.
We find today in this new project songs navigating between French, for most part, and English. Partners and friends since a long time, Thomas Pirot at the drums and Raphael Ankierman at the bass are playing alongside FX Guéant-Mata at the guitar. We also find Mina Tindle and her delicate voice appearing here and there. At last we don't forget the goldsmith's talent of Canadian musician Sandro Perri who's joining the band, highly recommended by Pitchfork magazine with his album Impossible Spaces in 2011.

In order to compose, Renaud Brustlein aka H Burns decided to reinvent himself once again. He didn't repeat the live configuration that he used in 2013 with Off the Map, an "electric storm" recorded in Chicago, with a band, in a single week, with the legendary Steve Albini. For Kid We Own the Summer, the composer started working in his home studio, by gradual touches, because there's no place like home.

The result? A melancholy cinematic stroll across stories of misguided couples, unspoken words that end-up ruining people's lives, the pursuit of dangerous situations, like an elegy to the end of adolescence - leading to a place we're unsure of. Born from a keyboard, a piano and a beatbox, these ten songs were brought to light, as always with infinite delicacy, by impeccable guests-friends - strings by Bertrand Belin and vaporous keyboards by Denis Clavaizolle (Bashung, Murat, Daniel Darc) - mixed by Rob Schnapf (Elliot Smith, Beck…) and mastered by the great Greg Calbi (Springsteen, Dylan, Paul Simon).
