Release Info:
Three’s a charm: U-Star, Noid and Droid! Of course, Dan Tyler and Conrad McDonnell have done way more than that. Better known as Idjut Boys, they were still there when the sun-of the summer of love went down and the acid house fever settled down. As remixers extraordinaire, party priests, dub poets or mirror ball hippies, they were broadening minds with labels like Discfunction and treating disco as a way of life. It’s hard to imagine the British club (and music) scene without their mark. Here is their long overdue return under the Droid umbrella. Reactivated for the needs and dance nerds of today, Droid initially had been designed for straight up machine music, fierce drums, electronic body music and bass heavy melodies in 2008. Following that template, Droid 0422 sounds like a cocktail made from Prelude bonus beats, Supertronics dubs and stand off between George Kranz and Curt Cress. Two well-crafted takes of each Dumme Willie and Schlagstock fill the proverbial boots of said influences and equally draw for your attention. An Idjut thing indeed. Fun fidelity guaranteed.

U-Star Records, the legendary label founded by the Idjut Boys way back in 1993, is making a surprise return to record stores. To mark the occasion, Conrad McDonnell and Dan Tyler have recruited Tuff City Kids - AKA Running Back boss Gerd Janson and regular studio buddy Phillip Lauer - to provide fresh interpretations of a trio of label classics.

idjut boys - world 1st day ( Version Altz )
IDJUT BOYS started in early 90s, when House Music was heading for the bubbly, wild excitement, and they have always been active in an underground scene which has been drawing the line at the mainstream. Carrying on the tradition of House and Disco, they have ever played an important role in forming the House and Disco culture in UK, producing the intoxicating groove of Funk and Dub, which is the significant factor in House and Disco. They also have been supported and loved in Japan together with DJ HARVEY, even in the days when the scene of Club and Party was being reformed in 2000s, so to speak, Summer of Love "in Japan." Their longawaited 7" single is released from a label ALTZMUSICA, which is presided by ALTZ, who has made sworn friends with them since ALTZ's tracks "Yello" and "Tune In" were remixed by them in 2005. This work is an Edit & Dub work based on guitars and basses performed by ANDY HOPKINS, who is like an associatemember of IDJUT BOYS. It has dance groove which consists in a psychedelic perspective which, as it were, reminds us of the primitive, fluid wriggle before dawn. The groove is also positive energy. A remix by ALTZ, "VERSION ALTZ," on Bside is reconstructed in different dub work from the original, taking over the viewpoint of IDJUT BOYS. It is a version which has gained strength and experimental taste by more progressive editing and effecting.

When Lindstrom and Prins Thomas get together, expect the unexpected. The Norwegian production duo's third album III is also their first outing together in eleven years, since II from 2009 and as ever, Lindstrom and Prins Thomas have crafted their own unique sonic world between the two of them. This is expansive, luscious electronic music rich with texture and intricacy, patiently revealing every eccentricity while constantly pulling the listener in. Getting lost never sounded so good. Since the release of II, Lindstrom and Prins Thomas have remained more than busy with their respective solo careers, but work on III was taking place behind the scenes the whole time - slow and steady by sending files back and forth. "There's a different process with every album," Thomas explains. "With the first two albums, we had a door between separate rooms in the studio, so I could open my door and play him something. We also toured together a lot after the first album, and after that experience we realized that we work better together at a distance. We're doing our best work by not worrying too much about what the other one of us is doing." Eventually, the bulk of III came together over the last year, as Lindstrom and Prins Thomas teamed up to craft a lush and lovely work that recalls the hazy atmospherics of Air, the loose-fit jazz of Lonnie Liston Smith, and the genreresistant electronic music that both artists have made their name on over the course of their impressive careers. "Our partnership is very democratic "we never turn down each other's ideas. And if it goes wrong, we blame it on the other guy," Thomas says with a laugh. "The tracks that Lindstrom sent me this time were almost like standard house tracks. I already had an idea of what I wanted to do, so I forced those tracks into new shoes and dresses." Above all else, III is a testament to the adventurousness of Lindstrom and Prins Thomas when it comes to soundcraft. Both artists have established separate careers on bodies of work that feature infinite twists and turns, thrilling their audiences with the suggestion of where they've been and where they're about to go. Together, they've crafted what might be their most beguiling and inviting work yet, a jeweled box of electronic music ornately crafted but never losing the sense of playfulness that so many have come to love from them.

The Swedish duo Studio officially called it quits in January 2012, according to a note posted by on the bands website by member Dan Lissvik: "Thanks to all involved, see you in another shape and form." With a brand new 12" titled "Shuvit!" Dan Lissvik is officially back, under his own name. Having signed a record deal with Smalltown Supersound "Shuvit!" will be released 9th February 2015 and is the first in a series of 12"'s before an album is due in late 2015. An Introduction to Dan Lissvik: Dan Lissvik, the Gothenburg based producer was one half of the Swedish duo Studio. They released the critically acclaimed album West Coast in 2006 (on their own Information label) and the West Coast companion album Yearbook 1 Compilation in 2007. Studio officially broke up in 2012, but the project had been dormant for several years already. Not allowing the latent Studio period to deter Lissvik's productivity Lissvik released an album titled 7 Trx + Intermission under the D. Lissvik name in 2008 and a collaborative album with Fredrik Lindson (The Embassy) by the name of The Crêpes in 2009. In the period after Studio he went on to produce records for the likes of CEO and Taken By Trees and remix the likes of Foals, Haim (both Forever and Send Me Down), The 1975 and Fever Ray. In December 2014 Lissvik released a surprise LP under the name Atelje, a vinyl only release edition of only 300 copies (the LP sold out immediately). Smalltown Supersound signed the producer in the Autumn of 2014 is to release his new album under his own name and a Dan Lissvik album will be released in the Autumn of 2015.
