Short info:
On Latino Body Music Vol II Sano continues to explore his musical heritage connecting the dots between tradition and news. For this record he picks up the "Champeta" style that had its origin in the streets of Colombia. The mix of repetitive rhythm patterns and chants performed by local legends like Hernando Hernandez is an integral part of the huge soundsytem culture that takes place in the streets of Cartagena. By adding small hints to contemporary western club culture like a classic house piano, or an acid baseline Sano reinterprets the tracks for our dancefloors without loosing any of the original hypnotic flavour. The early Champeta dances were called "therapy" and seen as distraction from everyday problems.

Why is a man not a camel? Public Possession "Under The Influence" catalogue number 006 is another delivery from Down Under. Four customised Disco heaters roughly built around an Arabic theme - with Italian background. Cour-tesy of Tamas Jones & Paul Harmon (building the duo "Carpentaria") and George Hysteric on the flipside. Tamas Jones, one half of "Hey Convict!" , was already introduced on PP UTI 05 and if you are into Italo Disco Hysteric might be no stranger to you. Having contributed various high class mixes to his own imprint "Mothball Record" as well as an edit to "Bordello A Parigi" we have been following his activities for quite a while now. For PP they joined forces and 4 hot tracks to watch out for are the out-come.

The third offering on Public Possession's sub label "Under The Influence" provides the listener with four remixes of Bell Towers' last Territory EP. Two remixes come from Hong Kong based Samo DJ who co-runs Born Free records together with Sling and has already released on L.I.E.S. amongst other imprints. Also on remix duty Manchester man Ruf Dug who always stands for quality and needs no further introduction. The package is completed by a Spectacle remix. The Munich duo consisting of Benjamin Röder and Muallem are long time close acquaintances to the Public Possession Organisation and will surely be heard of in the future.

Nôze's elegant 'Body Language' mix featured some real gems from all the corners of the earth. One of those gems is their remix of Ornette's 'Crazy', a sensual, lively piece full of classical sounds and elegant vocal lines. These artists managed to capture the pure essence of the track in a bottle and pour it smoothly over the dance floor. If you could give it a texture, the Nôze extended remix has an almost creamy feel to it. Smooth, and driving, this is a solid track and you should be prepared to hear it complete some of the higher quality DJ sets and mixes around the world (as you might have already heard on Body Language Vol 11). Phonique is well known in Berlin for his residencies in Weekend and various remixes. His version of ‚crazy' pumps a deep disco vibe into the bassline and keeps the groove going. Pads rise and vocal lines open to bring crowd to their feet. When professional sound engineers produce a track you can hear the years of experience and love go into it. LOPAZZ takes a break from mastering and teams up with Casio Casino to give us the Roofmix, a mix of organic percussion and saucy groove. The ‚Call The Cops' Remix marks Nicks very first release, and on Get Physical nonetheless. The remix reflects a deeper side of the track. With pumping bass and a deep kick, Nick takes it down a bit into Dub territory. Perfect for Home listening, as well as any afterparty, the mix lures the audience into a dreamy state of mind and holds them with a groove that touches you deep inside. We've included the original for your pleasure as well. Take these tracks, and treasure them. Quality tracks like this don't come out every day.

Fledgling label Shadow Pressings already made a mark with their debut release in March entitled the Chicago EP, garnering love from Hunee, Terry Farley and Luke Solomon to name a few. Striking while the iron is hot, the label are serving up four more heavyweight club tracks which include acidic edits, crunchy deep house, 808 electro grooves and dusty breakbeats.
Lead track Find A Friend jacks up the perennial classic with 808 rims and toms and additional synths but keeps things loopy and rolling. Holding One Shoe continues with the 808 theme whilst injecting a healthy dose of acid resulting in what sounds like a long lost Yazoo B side filtered through a lysergic lens. Train Of Fools decontextualises a well known acapella making for a deep and techy basement jam which will keep the floor moving and the speaker pumping.
Closing out the EP we have More Music In The Night, which chops up some familiar samples and layers up an 808 electro groove and breakbeats for a fresh take on early 90’s house.
