andy ash - B2. DOMMAH
To keep people guessing, the fifth instalment from Australia's best selling People Must Jam label takes things in a house direction with Andy Ash at the controls. Andy has put through an immense EP of varying house flavours to satisfy an all tastes. The EP kicks of with the monster disco vibed 'Hurricane Fantasy' track. A beautiful summery looper that's sure to keep the floors burning hot! 'Move'is one of Andy's straight up house cuts - which he is becoming well known for, a deep sounding organ line carrying the track forward with stabs and a nice little vocal sample to boot. Mixing things up a little on the flip, our good friend - Ron Basejam has provided a sublime 'Adriatic Excursion' remix of 'Move'. Ron takes the track to a totally different place with uplifting piano lines and orchestral string stabs building to a lovely crescendo. This remix should be earmarked for Croatia 2015. Finally 'Dommah' takes the EP into almost techno territory with building pads and solid beats resulting in a monster track for when the strobelight pulses and the heads go down! 180g Vinyl - Strictly limited.

Sales Note
Assured UK house producer Andy Ash takes care of the next EP on SAFTX while the equally esteemed Mark E steps up to remix.
For well over a decade now, Andy Ash has been turning out high-quality house music on a range of labels. Last year he served up a tasteful full-length on Quintessentials, the year before he dropped a double 12" on Still Music and he is also a regular at the likes of Delusions Of Grandeur. From deep and dusty to disco-tinged and dynamic, he has a stylish sound that is well-versed in the classics but always his own twist. He shows that again here with four fresh tunes which cannot fail to make you feel good.
Opener 'You:Me' features Faber and os brilliantly warm house groove. The drums and hi-hats are prefectly designed, the vamping chords bring a playful funk and swirling pads add diffuse late-night energy. It's timeless cut with nods to the US midwest and subtle vocal sounds.
Remixer and Merc label boss Mark E has a rich history of edits and originals on the likes of Running Back, Delusions Of Grandeur and Studio Barnhus. On this version, he lays down hazy, heavy kicks for a beatdown workout that comes alive with gorgeous synt work akin to all the best Detroit dons.
Ash's 'Momentary Days' is a slow and roomy, dubbed-out house swinger. Well-placed samples - vocal coos, guitar riffs, jazzy chords - all peel off the loose drums and can't fail to get you moving. 'Reach' is another humid house cut for cosy back rooms and basements. The Scruffy drums have frayed edges while dreamy melodies loop up top. It's a heartfelt sound that slowly turns you to deep inward reflection.
Last of all is 'Rico! Rico!', a downtempo jazz-funk jam with crisp broken beats, keys that take you to the Riviera and strings so lush you can almost feel the sun on your face.
This deep house music as it should be - raw, expressive and full of human soul. More

A2 : Life feat. Faber
B1: I’m here feat. Amber Kuti
B2: In the village
C1: Os talking
C2: Mad affection
D1: Another
D2: Letting go feat. Nexus Techne
Short info:
„All The Colours“ was a concept that came about from Andy Ash bringing together his music and visual art in an attempt to try and identify the common ground between the two. In both mediums, Andy attempts to convey the full range of human identity – at first you see and hear euphoria and playfulness, but look a little closer and you will also notice anger, sadness and tension. On this album, Andy approaches house music as the vehicle to convey many different feelings. These tracks are designed to be played on the dancefloor and bring people together – this is what house music has always been about!
The whole album was made over a two-year period in Andy’s home studio using a mixture of analogue hardware and samples. During this period, Andy was suffering with some significant mental health problems and this album represents his attempts to channel this energy into something productive. This is also the first time Andy has worked with vocalists, bringing a new dimension to his music. Whether it is the old school inspired „The sound“ which features vocalist Erik Rico, or the deep and moody „I’m Here“ featuring Liverpool vocalist Amber Kuti, this album brings many different shades of house music to the table! A real statement!

Andy Ash - Actual Price
Andy Ash has been quietly sneaking out seriously good analogue-driven electronic music on some of the best underground labels for over a decade. The Liverpool-based producer, DJ and visual artist (the artwork for this re- lease is Andy’s own oil on canvas) has graced the likes of Chicago’s Stilove4music, NYC’s On The Prowl, Sydney’s People Must Jam and has remixed Fantastic Man for Detroit label Kolour LTD amongst many others. The bottom line is that he’s definitely one of the UK’s unsung heroes when it comes to deep, raw, Chicago and Detroit-influenced house music and we’re proud to welcome him to Delusions Of Grandeur with an amazing three tracker entitled the Bottleneck EP. The title track opens with snappy hats, flappy congas and sloppy baseline all sitting perfectly in the mix and with a looseness that is much harder to achieve that it may seem. A simple synth melody doubles up the bassline while an extra square wave lead adds that little extra hook without distracting us from the bouncing groove. With Bottleneck, less is definitely more. Flipping over we have Hump, an altogether darker affair with a twisting acid line joining distorted 808 drums and tripped-out snippets of spoken word coming in and out of focus. The low-slung bumpy groove and spacey synth parts make this a compelling warehouse track which will draw everyone into it’s seductive confines. Closing the release we have Actual Price, a shuffling, deep groover with rumbling low end and machine-like analogue synth part skipping around the crunchy beats. A cerebral yet punchy and dynamic closer to an excellent release!

Continuing to go about their considered house business, Fly By Night Music turns once again to established underground head Andy Ash for its next EP. The Liverpool man, previously associated with labels like Black Key and Scenery as well as having released on this label in 2012, serves up three tracks of well-rooted, beautifully analogue sounding house that's rich with both musicality and physicality. Three more killer tracks from Andy Ash, then, that whilst paying heed to house music's long heritage also look to the future in their serene synth patterns and proud production techniques.

Tracklisting: A Workin B1 Mindflow B2 Release and Check Pt.1
Liverpool’s Andy Ash has been releasing finely crafted, authentic house music for a number of labels over the past few years, including appearances on StilLove4Music, Kolour and Quintessentials. Here he joins Steve Bug’s Dessous imprint and drops some of his best work yet - four
slices of deep and raw house grooves. 'Workin' shares a little headspace with that other Liverpudlian pioneer, John Heckle - emotionally uplifting electronic music that keeps things rough round the edges. 'Mindflow' references the classic sound of Chicago in the early 90s, a disco/funk vocal sample interplays with tightly woven percussion and an ever present bump - Mr. Ash clearly knows a thing or two about moving dance floors. 'Release and Check' makes up the remainder of the EP - a deep, rolling jam with live sounding keys, and a highly effective acidic bassline which send the whole to several both groovy and euphoric moments. Liverpool based Andy Ash hits the SAFT imprint with two excellent analog house jams. The overall sound Andy comes up with, hints to the early machine driven house sounds from the late 80s on the A1 ''In Love'' whilst transitioning into the more jammy house sound Andy has been purveying on his string of latest releases on his A2 jam called ''Black Stem''. On the B side SAFT regular ''Kastil'' provides Andy Ash's ''In Love'' with a heavy machine rework. Kastil proves he has been crafting and perfecting his production skills with some new hardware gear. This remix hold the intense feel of a 4am sweaty club session. All and all SAFT proudly present the 5th installment in their series of pure and all round house releases. SAFT05 will hit all well-known record shops in September, of course in the beloved 12'' format.

Andy Ash, - Love Me Straight
Marcos Cabral and Jacques Renault's latest On the Prowl 12" features the return of Andy Ash, the man who dropped "Another World" with them last year (OTP007) as well as a grab of edits on OTP Party Breaks way back in 2010. As is to be expected with the talented, young producer, the EP is all groovy, bouncy, high-octane house with a hardy injection of disco glitz.
"Get Loose" is what its name implies--an elastic, fidgety whirl of dancey guitar strums; a heavy bass that pans in and out, mimicking the experience of opening the door to an underground club; and a playful keyboard melody. "Love Me Straight" is a spacier affair, with a lounge-y pulse and hypnotic synth hook that creeps in, out, and around your ears. The Deep Space Orchestra remix amps up the bass of the original, making the entire track sound like it's being played under water. And "You Show Me" is a perfect example of Ash's trademarks all coalescing into one big pile of shuffling dance floor fun--you can almost see the swirling disco ball lights through your eyelids and feel the smoke machine juice snake into your nostrils. Andy Ash, - Broken
We return with our second release, this time featuring the hotly tipped Andy Ash with two brand new tracks and a sterling remix from Ugly Drums?
Ash has been making a name for himself over the last few years releasing for the likes of Chicago?s Stillove4music imprint and the Brooklyn based On the Prowl label. Still in his early twenties Ash has a passion for electronic music derived from his misspent youth, frequenting Dj booths and running club nights in his native Liverpool and it?s that passion that comes out in his own unique take on 21st century house & disco. The ?Broken Nights EP? kicks off with the original version of ?Broken?, a wonderfully languorous slice of laid back slo mo house that fuses together loose limbed percussion, an old school riff and haunting, pitch shifted vocals. The tracks builds in intensity as the arrangement progresses, bringing the piano to the fore and shifting up a gear with hypnotic vocals that give the record a truly balaeric feel, quality stuff. Next up ?Broken? gets the remix treatment from Germany?s Steffen Baldo aka Ugly Drums whose recent release on Quintessentials was a stand out release of 2011. For this remix, Baldo takes things into super deep territory with a version that strips out the pianos and vocals and draws on drums and sparsely used stabs and riffs to build a brilliantly understated groove. Finally we have the excellent ?Distro Yet?, a deep house workout that melds hypnotic hits and pads with a rolling, bass heavy rhythm section to create a mesmerizing work. Added Roland percussion and some frenetic keys join the mix and lift the track towards a superb climax and conclusion of the release. More

After a three year hiatus Night Sweats Music artist System Status is back with his first outing for People Must Jam. The four-track Pale & Crazy EP sees a return to the experimental uptempo sounds of UK producer Dave Rendle. The mind behind System Status and The Detroit Urban Gardening Ensemble, Dave's music on Untracked, Out Here Audio, Horn Wax and Stupid Human has caught the attention of global tastemakers such as Gilles Peterson, Phil Asher, Ashley Beedle, Alex Nut and Ross Allen as well as receiving the remix treatment from another previous PMJ artist - Inkswel. The record kicks off with the title track which is a perfect representation of Dave's music style: loose rhythms, rising pads, little quirky vocal snatches, deep chords and fantastic funky squiggly synth work. Great vibes all round! Jiran Jaran - born out of a conversation that started on the dance floor at the Worldwide Festival, the question what would a half Iranian and half Japanese musical collaboration call themselves? Jiran Jaran was born! Henry Wu was highly influential on this one. Janice was a late addition to the record and it is probably our favourite. Using some of the musical teachings of a well known Antipodean musician, Dave uses everything he learnt to create a truly amazing track with just enough chord progressions and melodies to make the noodleiest of Jazz musicians smile. The warm tones of his Arp Axxe shining through. We are hoping Gilles Peterson and Floating Points may get on this one. Back of the Yards is another special cut - the oldest one on the ep. A Mr Fingers inspired bass sound with more Chicago and French/Canadian influences...interesting? Check it out! We are really excited to have been able to share this with everyone. Like all of our records - pressed on heavy duty 180gm vinyl.

das komplex - When
Das Komplex or Marcin to his parents has been steadily putting out incredible music for the last few years, building on an extremely well tailored collection of tracks they have started hitting all sorts of people's radar, no one more so than Dj Harvey who has been supporting his releases at some of his big shows. A1. Under Feet - Whilst the people of Australia are dancing, the people of Poland are sleeping. Or vice versa...Starting off with some lcd fuelled vibes before a psychedelic phasing disco loop appears out of the smoke before twisting the track out in a slightly different direction. A2. W Podwodnym Pasniku - Funky bass, filtered chords and a familiar vocal sample combine for this almost early french house sounding track circa '96. B1. Bearded Dwarf - Very much sounding like Prins Thomas has been at work here, a big room Scandinavian sounding house track (via Poland!).
Big atmospherics, other-worldly vocal samples, lovely guitar snatches and driving piano with the addition of some tribal flute! B2. When - Our favourite cut from the EP, cleverly using a Herbie Hancock sample and layering with disco sounds, vocals and a deep driving bass line to produce his trademark atmospheric, moody house sound. As always pressed on 180gm vinyl. Please hunt down and destroy dance floors accordingly. Keep Sydney Open More

People Must Jam just keep on bringing the heat ! One of New Zealand's best exports, apart from Lamb - a DJ and producer of considerable talents, whose musical output has graced a slew of respected outlets, from the uber cool Unthank to Rush Hour, Burek, Dopeness Galore & Boogie Bash, as well as his own fantastic Hot Shots imprint For his PMJ debut, we have a five track set of rough and ready workouts, the echoes of thirty odd years of Black US dance music held up with raw drum machine scaffolding. From smoked-out B Boy jams to lo-fi sample joints - loose and alive on the floor On the flip Lay Far stirs up some sonic trouble with a bottom heavy rewire of the title track, while Ugly Drums bring some serious shine to Linoleum Magnets, with a mix that's heavy on immersive mood and vibe 300 copies.
