London-based imprint Release Sustain returns with 'Wiring Range' EP by L.A born now Berlin-based Alland Byallo, backed with remixes from Safeword and Brooks Mosher. Release Sustain was launched in 2009 out of East London, and its roster boasts the likes of Brendon Moeller, Himan, Inxec and Gabbi Lopez delivering contemporary electronic music with its focused tipped towards the dark and edgy sounds in house and techno. Here the label welcomes back Alland Byallo, following his 'High Stakes' cut, which featured on the labels 'Deepest London Vol.3' compilation last year. The release opens with original version of title track 'Wiring Range' here, employing raw shuffling drums, eerie atmospherics and a penetrating electronic bass hook as its driving force, the records slowly blooms in such a state before its focal point introduces a dubbed out synth stab and hi-strings further fuelling its energy. Following we have Mobilee and Dessous artists Safeword's remix of 'Wiring Range' remix, stripping things back to a raw, drum-focused gritty vibe, the duo introduce a heady saw wave bass hook that subtly varies throughout the trace, while soft ethereal pads and whispering synth lines flutter in the depths of the background. Entering the B-Side we have 'A Red Dilemma', embracing a similar dark aesthetic, yet infused with a more progressive, rolling feel. The track blooms in true house fashion easing in new elements and subtle additions every thirty-two bars; the centre stages see a dreamy ethereal pad introduced, further fuelling its musicality and tasteful intelligent approach. To close the release Dolly artist Brooks Mosher reworks 'A Red Dilemma' into a synth driven workout, opting for an amalgamation of synth elements to lead the way, alongside weighty, bumping drums. Mosher instills his signature sound on the remix tightly blending sounds to create an ever-evolving dynamic. More

Allez! Real Tone is back with another fresh new EP, full of deep flavours from two underground rebels. As always we're focused on the highest quality and the best music, regardless of genre, regardless of style and most definitely not concerned with the latest trends. Our man at the controls for this journey into the depths of electronic music is Alland Byallo, a Los Angeles-born producer who really hit his stride while living in San Franscisco. It was there where he became one of the team behind the west coast city's legendary Kontrol parties, along with Sammy D from Pillow Talk, Greg Bird, Nikola Baytala, and Craig Kuna. The seminal events gained all promoters worldwide notoriety and helped Alland to evolve his style. He's currently residing in Berlin where, of course, he's really found himself musically so consider this new EP a cocktail of West Coast USA meets Berlin. A product of Alland's melting pot upbringing, yet oh-so-cohesive and built for dancefloor workouts, as proven by his outings on labels such as Liebe* Detail, Poker Flat, Dirt Crew and now Real Tone Records. On Got It Wrong, Alland combines punchy beats with an infallible bassline, sturdy and energetic though not too imposing Allowing the other elements of the track to do their work. Subtle synths bashfully creep into the fray, join by jaunty whirrs which appear in the distance and a vocal that slowly but surely evolves, along with the track. Mesmerising twinkles dance around the bassline and the vocals reaching a crescendo, which pulls you into a faultless breakdown keeping you hungry for more before it delivers the ultimate understated drop. The track is over ten minutes, yet it feels like half that time, which is a credit to Alland's superlative production skills. Deep house aficienado Alex Alvarez steps up for a remix and switches it up properly. Whereas Alland's original used its slow yet steady evolution to create an engaging groove, Alvarez injects some verve into the track with irresistable 4x4 beats, a repeated, spliced up vocal and a bassline that will have even the most uptight raver shaking their hips like there's no tomorrow. Says Alex, 'I figured I could add something really nice by chopping up the vocals and other parts and put some of my NY/LA Flavor in there. Wanted it to be a bit ruff and more tracky but still keep the coolness of Alland's original vibe. Just kept it simple and not over do it keeping the groove right in the pocket.' Too true! So there you have it, two different versions of the same sublime, groovy number. Take your pick, but rest assured, you're Selecting quality all the way. Another Real Tone classic in the making!

This EP is 6 unreleased tracks in the Thomas Brinkmann celebrated Max Ernst series of 12", all with female names, released with names ordered alphabetically. Starting with. 1. Anna Beate, the series ran for 12 releases over the 2 years from 1998 to 2000. 2. Clara Doris 3. Erika Frauke 4. Gisela Heidi 5. Inge Jutta 6. Karin Lotte 7. Monika Nikola 8. Olga Petra 9. Susie Trixi 10. Ulla Vera 11. Wanda Xenia 12. Yvette Zara, followed. There was never an ep with Q and R. Number 9 is Susie and Trixie. The tapes were lost. But have come to light nearly 25 years later. So now, here is Q/R; Quila 1-3 and Romy 1-3. What we have here are the original tracks as intended for release, with some minor editing and rearranging for release now. The original series was very successful. The first 3 12", released at the same time were a sensation on release. Suddenly, Thomas Brinkmann was the name to check. Today, these Quila/Romy tracks may well have the same impact as the other tracks in the series had when they were released. There is still nothing that sounds like this music. It seems to be an example of a perfect melding of soul and machine. 25 five years later... a annniversary of sorts, offered up by the machines. More

Mike Agent X Clark returns to Third Ear with four new tracks. His first release for the label in six years, after the River People Edits. The quality and variety which is typical of many Detroit releases is very evident here. Is it house? Is it techno? Is it disco? These genre-defining labels don't really come into the minds of many Detroit producers when making tracks, the music they create often seamlessly blends many genres. What is recognisably Detroit is the weight and the swing of these releases; they do not mess around, and Mike Clark is a master of this. More

Thomas Brinkmann creates a new moniker for his latest project to push technical limitations and challenge perceptions; classic Brinkmann agendas. Mele is Italian for Apples, and with Mele Boy, Thomas Brinkmann uses Apple Loops and Apple Logic Pro as the foundation of this music, invoking what he terms Apple Incest, apropos the controversy surrounding Serge Gainsbourg and the song Lemon Incest. What he has produced here for the Seduction ep is simply brilliant music regardless of the machines used or the sounds he works with, reinforcing the axiom that it's the artist not the tools that establishes the greatness of the work.. Those who are prejudiced against such ubiquitous tools may not be swayed. But Brinkmann is not attempting to change opinions, instead he is asking us to challenge our perceptions and the fact that we have prejudices at all... through some brilliant music for the body and the soul. Thomas Brinkmann is one of the great producers of Techno music and modern dance music. He initially gained notoriety in the experimental electronic music and Techno community for his full-length 'variations' of material by Wolfgang Voigt under his Mike Ink moniker, and Richie Hawtin. The variations were made by playback of the original artist records on a turntable of Brinkmann's design, which has two tone arms with separate outputs for left and right channels. The turntables were then pitched down from 33rpm to 27rpm and the results recorded and mixed. Both Voigt and Hawtin were sufficiently impressed they released the results on their own labels. Since then Thomas Brinkmann has produced some all-time classic dance tracks, many of which are collected here in what is a personal selection by Thomas Brinkmann himself. There are unreleased tracks, different versions, and tracks that have never been released on vinyl. A full colour 20-page book with track notes by Thomas Brinkmann and photos from his personal collection is included. Limited edition box. Highly Recommended! More

Isolation Diaries is Argentinian producer Alejandro Mosso's 2nd album. It comes more than ten years after his debut, Hiperborea in 2005. He says "I think the album is warm, emotive and nostalgic but not dark nor sad. It is percussive and melodic but not laid back and Balearic. It is tribal and organic but still very precise", as only electronic music can be. The grooves are strong and infectious and the sounds are rich and satisfying, resulting in music that sounds very organic and unpremeditated. The album is accompanied by a Burnt Freidman remix of the track Isolation Diaries, and a Ricardo Villalobos remix of Deardrum.

New talent from Detroit. HazMat's Infinite Silence ep is as deep as they come, and is the first release in a new series of Detroit artist releases from Third Ear. Following on from Third Ear's landmark Detroit Beatdown series, the New Detroit Deep series of releases is just that. HazMat has played keyboards for artists such as Bilal and Mary J Blige, as well as Detroit legends Kenny Dixon Jr, Amp Fiddler and Delano Smith. Along the way, he started to make his own beats and his own tracks and is now ready to take things to the next level. He also plays keys with Motown legacy artists' touring bands, such as The The Four Tops, The Detroit Spinners, The Gap Band. It's not all about the beats and the synths, though. HazMat's work using the Talkbox is right up there.
