Release Info:
Lerosa’s fourth full-length, Catena, is also his second for Berlin-via-LA label Acid Test. It sees the Dublin-based producer once again draw deeply on his diverse influences – dub, industrial, electro, trance, funk, IDM – and transform them into a sound signature that has always been uniquely his own.
This alchemy is no accident. Rather it is driven by Lerosa’s ongoing pursuit of the fundamental meaning of dance music: to immerse ourselves in sound to the point where our only desire is to move and feel in the moment. Hence how, on Catena, the slow and sensual sway of a cavernous bit of dub can sit side-by-side with hands-up trance-like ecstasy, and all still sound like Lerosa.
This achievement is the result of a dedicated daily studio practice. Each track starts from a dynamic studio jam in which Lerosa plays drum machines and synthesisers live and then overdubs them with further modulated layers. He uses looping techniques to build up the density of certain instruments while mixing the layers on-the-fly, using something as unassuming as an iPad. This imbues each track with a spontaneous shifting quality that defines the entire album.
What comes through is a sound that speaks of Lerosa’s love for the studio, for the tangible substance of an audio frequency – analogue and digital, raw and processed, pure and saturated – and the intangible, indeed bewitching mystery of how these frequencies can transport us to other places.

Leopoldo Rosa's debut for Acid Test is the producer's first album in eight years, but since then he's put out in the neighborhood of 15 EPs for the likes of Idle Hands, Ferox and Saft, homing in on his own lush sound, which weaves effortlessly between deep house, acid and electro.

" To know Lerosa is to have a huge amount of respect for him. The Dublin-based, Italian producer isn't concerned with the limelight. Rather, his studio philosophy resembles the Japanese concept of "kaizen" a workmanlike, incremental improvement.

He applies all these patient lessons on "Bucket Of Eggs", the ten masterful tracks fit perfectly within the label's concept. Yet Rosa, like the label's stable of 303 auteurs (Tin Man, Recondite, John Frusciante, Pepe Bradock) opens up bold new vistas for the subgenre. On "Conjurors," he spends half the track building up atmosphere so thick and dubby you could cut it with a knife, before introducing an acid line and jack track heralding back to the acid's maddening, revolutionary roots.
About halfway through the set, Lerosa is done setting the stage, and thusluy delivers a string of freakishly good late night tracks. For Lerosa, the hips and the head work in concert-"One Is Too Short"'s no-nonsense rhythm section perfectly balanced by the track's dreamy synth and zero-grav piano breaks. On "Self Inflicted," he joins a rarified class, synthesizing electro funkiness, widescreen ambience and acid counterpoint.
On initial contact, Lerosa's "Bucket Of Eggs" feels astonishing, an expertly-paced, near-perfect LP. But for those who have been following the low-key producer, it feels like a natural culmination. "

lerosa - Theme Of Perception
Lerosa‘s 25th solo EP will be released on German label eudemonia. Known for his deep-house sound, the Dublin based Italian producer showcases a different palette for this release. The four tracks gravitate somewhere between Electro, Italo, Synthwave and imaginary film themes. "Glider", a fast electro track, opens the EP combining acid drops and dystopian sci-fi elements. "The Minister' is much slower and serves as an emotional homage to those gone too soon. "Plateau Rosa" connects Italo and Detroit delivering a rolling bassline and glassy synth clouds for the delight of the afterhour-dancefloor. And if Lerosa had scored the soundtrack of a Michael Mann film in the 80's, "Theme of Perception" would have been right at home, a fitting end for this EP. The cover is a painting by the Irish artist Sibyl Montague. It was originally exhibited in London at an exhibition called „Totem“.

Dublin based musician Lerosa has built an impressive discography throughout the years. With his first efforts dating back to 2005 the producer who has a broad palette of sounds has already been around for over 10 years with releases for a vary of respected labels. For the first release on SAFTX , Lerosa hands out a taster of the labels new series ambitions. Vivrant house music is most definitely the back bone of Playa De La Guancha as a whole. The opening is packed with a strapping rhythm section and a vocal cut that is reminiscent of the Trax Records classic House Nation . Julius Steinhoff (of Smallpeople fame) gives Soul Tracing a modern sounding treatment that completely shifts the feel of the original and turns it into an adventurous piece of contemporary electronics. Lerosa opens up the B side with Bruised which is a work out of alternating basslines and brutal machine claps that give the piece a club oriented feel. Acidic sounds cut through the mix with determination and wobbly synth sounds serve as a pleasant sauce for this intergalactic sounding work. Marauder is a hefty bit at a slower tempo than it s predecessors. A loose rhythm section is causing for the listener the focus on the immense LFO threated sounds that float on to and the low down bassline that supports the overall atmosphere in a grounded manner. Playa De La Guancha will be available through all specialized retailers starting early April.

Idle Hands is proud to present our first 12" of 2017 from Lerosa, a four-tracker beamed across the Irish Sea to Bristol. The 'Subcouture' EP sees the esteemed producer operating at the intersection of dubby electro and deep house, taking in the sub-heavy frequencies Bristol is known for, whilst retaining an agile and sleek simplicity. 'Maryelen' is a tight, yet pastoral electro track where dreamy pads contrast against tough, cutting drum programming. 'Line Bass' is a tumbling and bouncy number, that doffs its cap to reggae disco and features vibrant synths peppering the mix.
'Scruffy' takes on a slower and more playful mood, featuring light licks of acid and off kilter keys. 'Subcouture' is a subtle dubbed out house cut with a hint of shuffle.

Apartment’s 3rd release comes courtesy of acclaimed producer Lerosa. For this, his first release of 2012, he delivers 4 electro-based cuts, a rarely seen side to the man predominantly known for his house productions. The sparse and melancholic “Combat” starts off proceedings, before “Titanium”’s throbbing bass, combined with Mr. Rosa’s unique melodic sensibilities, increases the pace. On the B-side “Slavery” is a furious acid jam, constantly rising in energy over hectic percussion and a wall-shaking electro beat. Finishing on “Decisions”, the pace is reduced considerably while the acid stays intact; delivering the 12 inch’s only 4/4 kick for what is Lerosa’s most euphoric cut to date.

Wake Up! records is proud to announce Rise and Fall, the debut EP by Ian Oakley, a new talent from Toronto. Skewing acid-tinged house with languid, lopsided grooves,Rise and Fall weaves a mix of dubbed-out elements into a unique, intuitive whole. “Thumbs” evokes a liminal space perfectly suited for late night cruises and hypnotized foors. “Rise and Fall” stays true to its name, a slippery bassline ebbing and fowing against a elegantly mellow beat. On the B-side, “Bug Jam” indulges Oakley’s electro side, while label co-owner Benjamin Brunn remixes “Rise and Fall,” reimagining the original as a spacious, kosmiche slow burner. Rise and Fall is a confdent debut, as potent in headphones as on the decks and a welcome edition to the growing Wake Up! catalogue.

East to West is about horizons. Facing the sea, east or west, at dusk or dawn, it never appears the same. We talk about well known territory, the world of Move D and Benjamin Brunn. Following a number of collaborations, now for the first time the two present individual works on one record, back to back.
This 4-track split EP is a must-have and collector's item: Ermitage, a collaboration of Moufang, Vladimir Daronkin and Dmitry Cherednichenko, recorded in St. Petersburg. Eastman from Moufang's legendary Kunststoff album, sounding as fresh as it did 20 years ago received a new finish by Dubplates & Mastering. Brunn makes extensive use of spoken word, an unusual style for him, in Da Hulk. For D k dates from his TR-707 period and mimics a party in a submarine. The artwork for East to West is a 30 x 30 cm removable photo print, the image was taken by Wake Up!'s own Mark Rhein.

‘Hi-Tide Lo-Fi’ can be read like a sonic map. But instead of a static picture it’s a growing and evolving concept of explored and lived in space. Every space creates its own sound. Not only because of the physical premises of a place do we experience sounds differently but also because of our perception and construction of space. And as each sound does have an individual meaning to us so does each space. Our identity is directly linked to our access to sound and space. Benjamin Brunn is questioning these access possibilities and offers us a soundscape of fluxing indentity. Within a timeless sound lies the opportunity of liberated being

Achim Maerz takes electronic abstraction back to a state of organic harmony and rythm. His EP „Long Time No See“ reveals a soundscape of intimacy and evolving grooves. Reduction broadens its horizon. All sounds are carefully placed and a sustaining atmosphere keeps developing from song to song. Still each one is an individual scenery of its own. „Keys Of My Soul“ delicatly moves through wide rooms while „Shake, Shake, Shake“ leads closer to the core of groove. The backbeat driven „System“ already possesses a pushing groove which mutualy connects it to „Long Time No See“ with its warm pulsating baseline.
