Apartment’s 3rd release comes courtesy of acclaimed producer Lerosa. For this, his first release of 2012, he delivers 4 electro-based cuts, a rarely seen side to the man predominantly known for his house productions. The sparse and melancholic “Combat” starts off proceedings, before “Titanium”’s throbbing bass, combined with Mr. Rosa’s unique melodic sensibilities, increases the pace. On the B-side “Slavery” is a furious acid jam, constantly rising in energy over hectic percussion and a wall-shaking electro beat. Finishing on “Decisions”, the pace is reduced considerably while the acid stays intact; delivering the 12 inch’s only 4/4 kick for what is Lerosa’s most euphoric cut to date.

Release Info:
Lerosa’s fourth full-length, Catena, is also his second for Berlin-via-LA label Acid Test. It sees the Dublin-based producer once again draw deeply on his diverse influences – dub, industrial, electro, trance, funk, IDM – and transform them into a sound signature that has always been uniquely his own.
This alchemy is no accident. Rather it is driven by Lerosa’s ongoing pursuit of the fundamental meaning of dance music: to immerse ourselves in sound to the point where our only desire is to move and feel in the moment. Hence how, on Catena, the slow and sensual sway of a cavernous bit of dub can sit side-by-side with hands-up trance-like ecstasy, and all still sound like Lerosa.
This achievement is the result of a dedicated daily studio practice. Each track starts from a dynamic studio jam in which Lerosa plays drum machines and synthesisers live and then overdubs them with further modulated layers. He uses looping techniques to build up the density of certain instruments while mixing the layers on-the-fly, using something as unassuming as an iPad. This imbues each track with a spontaneous shifting quality that defines the entire album.
What comes through is a sound that speaks of Lerosa’s love for the studio, for the tangible substance of an audio frequency – analogue and digital, raw and processed, pure and saturated – and the intangible, indeed bewitching mystery of how these frequencies can transport us to other places.

Album closer ‘Suite De Paris’ places pitch-bent liquid acid over a huge skanking bassline, the perfect material for Dozzy to make hay with his simmering techno take. Meanwhile, album opener ‘Apollo’ churns with industrial fervour, before Jordan GCZ reduces it down to its acid techno essence, leaving little space for us to catch our breath.

" To know Lerosa is to have a huge amount of respect for him. The Dublin-based, Italian producer isn't concerned with the limelight. Rather, his studio philosophy resembles the Japanese concept of "kaizen" a workmanlike, incremental improvement.
Leopoldo Rosa's debut for Acid Test is the producer's first album in eight years, but since then he's put out in the neighborhood of 15 EPs for the likes of Idle Hands, Ferox and Saft, homing in on his own lush sound, which weaves effortlessly between deep house, acid and electro.
He applies all these patient lessons on "Bucket Of Eggs", the ten masterful tracks fit perfectly within the label's concept. Yet Rosa, like the label's stable of 303 auteurs (Tin Man, Recondite, John Frusciante, Pepe Bradock) opens up bold new vistas for the subgenre. On "Conjurors," he spends half the track building up atmosphere so thick and dubby you could cut it with a knife, before introducing an acid line and jack track heralding back to the acid's maddening, revolutionary roots.
About halfway through the set, Lerosa is done setting the stage, and thusluy delivers a string of freakishly good late night tracks. For Lerosa, the hips and the head work in concert-"One Is Too Short"'s no-nonsense rhythm section perfectly balanced by the track's dreamy synth and zero-grav piano breaks. On "Self Inflicted," he joins a rarified class, synthesizing electro funkiness, widescreen ambience and acid counterpoint.
On initial contact, Lerosa's "Bucket Of Eggs" feels astonishing, an expertly-paced, near-perfect LP. But for those who have been following the low-key producer, it feels like a natural culmination. "

lerosa - Theme Of Perception
Lerosa‘s 25th solo EP will be released on German label eudemonia. Known for his deep-house sound, the Dublin based Italian producer showcases a different palette for this release. The four tracks gravitate somewhere between Electro, Italo, Synthwave and imaginary film themes. "Glider", a fast electro track, opens the EP combining acid drops and dystopian sci-fi elements. "The Minister' is much slower and serves as an emotional homage to those gone too soon. "Plateau Rosa" connects Italo and Detroit delivering a rolling bassline and glassy synth clouds for the delight of the afterhour-dancefloor. And if Lerosa had scored the soundtrack of a Michael Mann film in the 80's, "Theme of Perception" would have been right at home, a fitting end for this EP. The cover is a painting by the Irish artist Sibyl Montague. It was originally exhibited in London at an exhibition called „Totem“.

Dublin based musician Lerosa has built an impressive discography throughout the years. With his first efforts dating back to 2005 the producer who has a broad palette of sounds has already been around for over 10 years with releases for a vary of respected labels. For the first release on SAFTX , Lerosa hands out a taster of the labels new series ambitions. Vivrant house music is most definitely the back bone of Playa De La Guancha as a whole. The opening is packed with a strapping rhythm section and a vocal cut that is reminiscent of the Trax Records classic House Nation . Julius Steinhoff (of Smallpeople fame) gives Soul Tracing a modern sounding treatment that completely shifts the feel of the original and turns it into an adventurous piece of contemporary electronics. Lerosa opens up the B side with Bruised which is a work out of alternating basslines and brutal machine claps that give the piece a club oriented feel. Acidic sounds cut through the mix with determination and wobbly synth sounds serve as a pleasant sauce for this intergalactic sounding work. Marauder is a hefty bit at a slower tempo than it s predecessors. A loose rhythm section is causing for the listener the focus on the immense LFO threated sounds that float on to and the low down bassline that supports the overall atmosphere in a grounded manner. Playa De La Guancha will be available through all specialized retailers starting early April.

Idle Hands is proud to present our first 12" of 2017 from Lerosa, a four-tracker beamed across the Irish Sea to Bristol. The 'Subcouture' EP sees the esteemed producer operating at the intersection of dubby electro and deep house, taking in the sub-heavy frequencies Bristol is known for, whilst retaining an agile and sleek simplicity. 'Maryelen' is a tight, yet pastoral electro track where dreamy pads contrast against tough, cutting drum programming. 'Line Bass' is a tumbling and bouncy number, that doffs its cap to reggae disco and features vibrant synths peppering the mix.
'Scruffy' takes on a slower and more playful mood, featuring light licks of acid and off kilter keys. 'Subcouture' is a subtle dubbed out house cut with a hint of shuffle.

Apartment kickstarts 2014 with a Various Artists compilation focusing on Irish talent from all across the isle. Following on from their collaboration as Bande Apartment in 2013, Tr One and New Jackson once again appear together on Apartment. This time around New Jackson remixes Tr One’s bruising techno beast “Viceroy-9c” (The original of which appeared on the last Apartment release, a split 12” with Phantom Planet Outlaws), turning it into an emotive, acid-laced breakbeat gem. House duo Slowburn, coming off a year that included appearances on Lunar Disko, Appian Sounds and Grounded In Humanity deliver the off-kilter and immersive “Riders of the Sea”. Hints of the work of artists such as Drexciya and Kassem Mosse are combined with their own unique stylings to create an intoxicating, tripped out journey to the deepest recesses of the dancefloor. The Cyclist garnered huge praise last year with his “Bones in Motion” LP on Leaving Records/Stones Throw and Apartment is excited to deliver his first original material since then. His individual brand of over-driven electronics – “Tape Throb” – combines distortion with the most delicate of inflections and “Crax” surmises this approach perfectly, an uncommonly euphoric slice of wounded electronica. Last but by no means least is The Superior Inferior. After his debut release on Belfast’s One Electronica label went so far as to be licensed by Sven Vath to his Sound of the 14th Season compilation, he returns with the throbbing, rapturous “A Bit Much Confusion”. Wave and electro influences carry this bass heavy number towards it’s crescendo of skyscraping synths and skewered monopoly madness.

Apartment Record’s 2nd release comes from Ireland’s analogue-obsessed soul assassins, Tr One. On the A-side, Drum Dance is a fusion of beatdown with a minimal techno aesthetic, creating a hypnotic journey through the duo’s machines. The B-side serves up 2 alternative takes. John Heckle’s debut remix takes a heaving, lo-fi approach to the original’s drums while layering it with wistful synths, before Juju & Jordash’s Dub version closes off proceedings in their inimitable style; expansive yet claustrophobic at the one time.
