deep#a & biri - Basement Cut 003 (The Analogue Cops Remix)
UPC - 827170574564 Vinyl Release date - 8th December Digital Release date - January 2015
Tracklist: A1. Deep'a & Biri - Basement Cut 001 A2. Deep'a & Biri - Basement Cut 002 B1. Deep'a & Biri - Basement Cut 003 B2. Deep'a & Biri - Basement Cut 003 (The Analogue Cops Remix)
Info:
JR002 sees a long-time Jaunt favourite Deep'a & Biri, take centre stage. The Israeli duo have long been considered expert producers by those in the know, with releases on the likes of Gigilo, Transmat and their own Black Crow imprint very much indicative of the fact. The Basement Cuts EP, meanwhile, goes some way to solidifying this fledgling reputation. Full of psychoactive tendencies and brimming with otherworldly sounds, the title track sees the pair delve deep, as they summon up a cut that's notable for its obsessive eye for detail and an unfurling array of captivating sounds. Full of dreamy soundscapes and pulsating kicks, it's a neat juxtaposition that plays out with some class from start to finish. On the remix front, the label welcomes The Analogue Cops to the fold. The Italian pair, consisting of Lucretio and Marieu, has long been held up as purveyors of refined electronica - and this one is no different. Their remix is a fitting compliment to the original, as they induce it with their trademark funk and a dollop of ominous tidbits. As it slowly progresses into an acid-led monster, it leaves a striking impression, neatly rounding off a contrasting and engrossing EP in the process.

Tracklist:
A1. Deep’a & Biri - Quantum Eraser
A2. Deep’a & Biri - Approaching Skopje
B1. Deep’a & Biri - Roots
Release Info:
Following 2018’s full-length, Dominance, Deep’a & Biri reemerge on their Black Crow imprint for Black Crow 012, presenting three immediate yet sophisticated cuts traversing techno and electro, brimming with character and detail.
‘Approaching Skopje’ is a tunnelling slice of techno, landing with enough bass weight to drive a wormhole through any heaving rave, coupled with layers of trippy electronic textures that blend inherent heaviness with sheer hypnosis.
On the contrary, ‘Quantum Hypnosis’ sees an instantaneous swung-groove gradually blossom into a weightless electronic lullaby, wrapped in fluttering modulations and a sense of shimmering intrigue.
Finally, ‘Roots‘ builds a bridge between both tracks and bodies and minds beside; a loose breakbeat flirts a circling analogue signal, demonstrating the duo’s subtle craftsmanship at it’s most psychedelic and soaring.

Info:
Deep’a & Biri curate a bevy of much-respected underground techno specialists to further unravel and reimagine the vital and sophisticated sounds of ‘Dominance’, their full-length LP released earlier in 2018.
Midnight Operator, the collaborative project of Mathew and Nathan Johnson, begin the set with their trippy and transcendent take on ‘False Memories’. A rare remix from the pair, their return has been worth the wait; an expertly executed techno excursion, it simultaneously burrows deeper into the psychedelic textures of the original, while providing a club-centred kick.
Further blending the experimental and the physical, Peter Van Hoesen provides a typically complex and compelling take on Voltage, deconstructing the original and expanding each element in myriad, rave-specific directions.
Deep’a & Biri enlist rising Dutch DJ-producer Deniro contributes a rolling, hypnotic version of Dominance’s spectral centrepiece, ‘Alpha Cephei’, while Z.I.P.P.O. charges down a tense, big-room industrial tunnel for his interpretation of ‘Seeking Solace’, hitting on a cathartic groove after a passage of uncompromising noise.
Concluding the EP, Steinlac’h Records founder Wice reimagines ‘Theories of Loneliness’ in dubby but propulsive fashion.

Central to the Israeli club scene, Deep'a & Biri have long been defying expectations even within a community they helped construct. Serving as resident DJs, activists and bookers for Tel Aviv's legendary Barzilay Club, the pair helped build a transcendent club scene. Hugely influential artists such as Robert Hood, Derrick May, Rødhad, Ben Klock and Moritz Von Oswald passed through the club, enjoying legendary crowds and what they could surely sense was a genuine air of anarchy, rebellion and unadulterated rave pleasure.
As the duo held down dozens of parties with dozens of DJs, there was no 'eureka' moment for their emerging sound; just a steady stream of brilliant, inspiring electronic music, much of which left an indelible imprint on the pair. Now based in Berlin, for Deep'a & Biri, things are much the same, even if the landscape and the city is different. Always rooted in the fertile ground between machines and emotion, on their second full-length LP, 'Dominance', the duo demonstrate their unique grasp of the sensitive, unfolding relationship between man and machine. Steadfast in their insistence never to remain in one lane in terms of their sound, 'Dominance' flawlessly segues between forcefulness and weightlessness. From beginning to end, this is not a record afraid to show its teeth with an uncompromising, instantly recognisable techno palette that kicks the foundations of any sound system with menace, anger and determination, particularly on tracks such as the dense 'Voltage' and pulsing throughout the more industrial flourishes of 'Ecole De Nancy' and 'Seeking Solace'.
Beyond these grittier, although never mindless, moments of authority, a sense of escapism and curiosity imbues the album. 'Alpha Cephei' offers the first hint of Deep'a & Biri's more wistful concepts, producing a smoke trail of twinkling electronics out of a smudged but distinctive bassline. That understated sense of emotional catharsis carries throughout, to be found between the complex-yet-familiar bells that drive 'Flow Diverter's' rhythm to a Detroit-indebted landscape that will surely instantly elasticate any keen dancers, while 'False Memories' offers big-room techno fulfillment with none of the character or sincerity removed for cheap thrills. Saving the most remarkable moments for last, the pair sign off 'Dominance' with the poignant and purifying 'Astral Trails', fusing an ethereal, ambient landscape with the more pronounced rhythms of their hardware.
The album's distinctive artwork comes from the studio of Jewish orthodox artist Avraham Guy Barchil, who forged a powerful connection with Deep'a, both was immediately drawn to "weird atmosphere, amazing technique and emotions involved with his work". Perhaps one of the most interesting painters from Israel, Avraham is known for his unique perspective, taking his inspiration from the Zohar - the foundational work in the literature of Jewish mystical thought known as Kabbalah. The ambiguous figures represent mystical aspects of the Torah (the five books of Moses), as well as material on mysticism and mythical cosmogony.
Ensuring their natural, conscious touch always remains at the forefront of this unapologetically machine-driven music, Deep'a & Biri have produced an album in the lineage of their heroes and greatest influences. Cerebral yet satisfying, deep yet always engaging, 'Dominance' both reasserts and evolves Deep'a & Biri's forward facing and singular sound.

Info:
Following two staggering contributions from The Analogue Roland Orchestra and 2030 that illustrated to boundless sonic possibilities for the label, Deep'a & Biri return to their Tel Aviv-based Black Crow label with a pair of powerful, emotive techno cuts in the style for which the duo long since become admired.
For a long time one of those admirers has been Detroit techno founding father Derrick May, who has been on a mission to push the new 12"s A-side, 'Basic Cycle', into instant classic territory through his unwavering commitment to making the track a highlight of his sets. May has been far from alone, with the track being one that D&B have been asked about, if not outright begged for, over the past year or so. It finally becomes available to techno fans worldwide in January 2017, backed by the pummelling rhythms of 'OverDrum', which itself has the potential to turn heads and drop jaws all by itself.

deep'a & biri - Ritual
For the 2nd release in their 30th year aniversary trilogy Transmat presents one of the most promising talents emerging from the electronic scene from Tel Aviv. Deep‘a & Biri try to fully introduce their sound from atmospheric hypnotic beats to banging acid dancefloor killers. Deep‘a & Biri‘s connection with Derrick May started 7 years ago, when Deep‘a worked as an A&R for Club Barzilay, one of the important underground clubs in Israel at that time. They invited May to play in Tel Aviv and gave him a demo track at the dinner before the party, which was played by May only a few hours later at the club. Since then May keeps supporting Deep'a & Biri‘s project by frequently playing their music on his sets. On 2014 the boys, who grew up listening to early Detroit Techno music, manage to close the circuit and joined Transmat artists agency and played on their label nights around the world. The tracks on the EP has being slowly cooked for the past 3 years and been tested on multiple dancefloors and soundsystems. On their 4-track EP Echoic Memories Deep‘a & Biri try to to fully introduce their sound from atmospheric hypnotic beats to banging acid dancefloor killers. The tracks stand out with their dark and mashing beats, that make their way without compromise and with never ending dynamism through the dubby sound spaces or relentlessly push forward sharp acid lines. From these perspectives, the tracks‘ bass lines and also to some extent, the implemented superposed, endless synthesizer landscapes, both remind us of the early years of the Detroit Techno.

Tel Aviv's Deep'a & Biri return to their own Black Crow imprint for their latest EP. Following the huge success of their split EP with Aril Brikha last year.
The brand new productions on offer here find Deep'a & Biri channelling the tougher side of their expansive techno sound, with an intensity that marries well with the dub sonics that the duo have long made their calling card. The originals are backed by a pair of stellar remixes from Klockworks affiliate ROD and Figure's techno veteran Markus Suckut, with the former tying Circular Sector's bassline to a swung out groove and the latter turning Paralell into an acid-infused tribute to Berlin's 90s techno heyday.

The tracklisting itself has been tailor made to build and develop like their a Jaunt event, with deep, hypnotic, up tempo strands included alongside numerous surprises along the way.

blackhall & bookless - "Cognition"
The Links EP is Blackhall & Bookless' latest outing for their increasingly renowned Jaunt> Records imprint. A highly personal release, the EP is a homely affair, celebrating the boys' upbringing in Whitley Bay with a gusto that's indicative of the area's unique charm.A A "Links" serves up a dreamy, atmospheric landscape - and one that reflects the location around which the EP is titled. Don Williams' interpretation goes down the rabbit hole further still, teasing the listener thanks to a range of slashing echo chords and clever sub bass techniques. The duo's second original is "Vision", aAdark techno jam that manifests into a stunning tribal hypnodrome.AClosing out the EP is "Cognition", another highly atmospheric track that keeps the listener locked thanks to its many dexterous capabilities. The striking artwork, meanwhile, showcases a black and white image of where the pair would hang out as teenagers. In that essence, the image echoes their production style, with the two sides of the links joining at the bridge and working together in unison.A JR004Ais dedicated in loving memory to Ian Blackhall.A

Info:
For their third release, Jaunt> Records returns to the guiding hand of its founders, Blackhall & Bookless. The label has made a well documented great start to life - and JR003 continues in a similarly enchanting vein. Getting us underway on the Differences EP is ’Straightener’. A techno bomb with lashings of
low end bass frequencies, it saunters about with an uncompromising swagger that’ll tear up the dancefloor. Next up we have the title track, a nifty creation that makes smart use of some clever drum work, a series of melodic charms and a whiff of airy pads. The first of the remixes comes from Berlin’s very own Mike Dehnert. The first of his two remixes of ‘Differences’ is full of bite, a fact that’s mainly attributable to the simmering snares and the snaking baseline that he injects the original with. His other remix, meanwhile, is a taut and heavy affair, but one that’s also full of vigour. Lastly, we have the sound of another Jaunt> boss, Chad, who delivers a cracking remix of ’Straightener’. Full of beguiling synths and a real sense of menace, it’s a fitting tribute to the original at the very least. This is another top class EP from a label that seems to be making a welcome habit of serving up such quality. More

Info
Jaunt Records is the new project from the team behind the Jaunt parties. For their first release, they call on two of their residents, Blackhall and Bookless, who bring the heat in their own inimitable way. The Se7en EP is a release that's every bit as refined as you'd hope for, while the remixes - from none other than Fred P AKA Black Jazz Consortium and Ostgut Ton's always reliable Virginia - both neatly compliment the merits of the originals.
With track titles such as ''Kevin Spacey'' and ''Morgans Freeman'', the release tips its hat to the movie Seven - and it's just as ominous and enticing too. The former is a dark and deranged voyage that drags the listener right on through to the depths of the techno, while the latter is a percussion-laced anthem that's primed for the night's more uptempo moments. In all, a stunning debut from a label we're sure to be hearing much more from in the near future.
