A1 Gravity 6:11 min
A2 Gravity (Beatless Version) 3:30 min
B Gravity (Johannes Volk Remix) 7:19 min
Info:
Polytone Recordings is back with a three-track EP featuring two originals from Orion and a raw remix from Johannes Volk.
Title-track 'Gravity' simmers effortlessly over rumbling sooty percussion and drawn-out atmospherics to deliver a dynamic techno cut geared to the darkest dance floors while the Beatless version does exactly what it says on the tin - in fine ethereal form.
Up for remix duty is Exploration head honcho Johannes Volk, known additionally for his quality output on Axis, Sistrum and more recently London's Tief Music. Johannes certainly delivers for the Frankfurt imprint utilising punchy drums, sharp modulations and oscillating synth lines to dish up a robust and hypnotic re-imaginging.

With their second appearance on Récit de Voyage Italian duo Orion deliver a full EP, full of lowkey atmospherics, cool hues and textures and sublime frequencies designed to caress your ear drums. The twosome, from Bologna, debuted on RDV Music back in March 2019, appearing on the Récit de Voyage various artists compilation. Since then they’ve been pushing out their brand of supple deep house via their own imprint Orion Records. Here we’re treated to four original cuts as the duo demonstrate their production prowess… The first track ‘Windom Earle’ (for all the Twin Peaks fans) encapsulates Orion’s ability to channel classic deep house tropes through their contemporary lens. Juxtaposing a dense low end with airy top layers, the cut tantalises your mind and moves your body at the same time. Chugging beats and subtle hypnotic melodies give this track its strong gravitational pull. Next up is ‘Samui’ which is powered by a rubbery bassline and morose wind section. This one tells a story, progression steadily as new arrangements and layers come into play emphasising different emotional strands. Wait for the analogue squelch… On the flip ‘Global Channel’ features a snub-nosed kick drum, which gives the track more urgency. Jazzy notes pop in and out of the background, playfully dancing with the other elements to create a multi-voice chorus. As the track develops Orion tease in additional hints of percussion to up the pace a little, while also using pads to amplify the track’s overall character. Lastly, it’s ‘JRB’, a spacious organic sounding production which showcases Orion’s dexterity. The atmosphere is light, shaving away the low frequencies to allow the top end to really flourish. A couple of vocal snippets are used to great effect, and the duo keep things very focused making this a repetitive, hypnotic trip into the deeper side of club music

B PLTR016 Matthias Vogt - Crevasse 07:09
Short Info:
Matthias Vogt is back on Polytone with two strong original tracks, plus legendary producer Carl Finlow is adding his remix magic. The title track "Imaginary Friend" is an ode to Electro, with a hint of Pop and both: taking us back to the sound of the 80s, yet still sounding fresh and crisp. Carl Finlow's transforming Imaginary Friend into a sci-fi-something - it's out of this world. The B-Side is all about "Crevasse", a timeless beauty - we are in love with this Matthias Vogt trademark sound.

A1 Riders 8:05 min
A2 Cream 4:36 min
B1 Unwind 6:05 min
B2 Unwind (Force / Emerge Remix) 7:10 min
Info:
Iron Curtis has felt like a Polytone artist for quite a while now. He recently delivered a breathtaking remix for Matthias Vogt, and shared a split EP with the man himself, Terrence Dixon.
He's also played several label nights, but indeed "Unwind" is his first very own EP on Polytone.
The opening track "Riders" is our floor filler here. A subsonic bass experience of the more intensive kind. It´s a pure groover, with a surprisingly long lasting breakdown that never lacks on intensity.
'Cream' on the A2 is a stellar ambient joint, with rhythmic elements and cosmic pads.
On the flip we have the title track, 'Unwind', with an unconventional basic groove, bleepy touches and trademark 707 drum machine sounds. Pure and stunning deepness. The Final track is a remix from Force/Emerge and leads "Unwind" into techno territory. Polytone stands for diversity, and again demonstrates the labels vision of versatility here.

A2 We, Shapeshifting 5:53 min
B1 One-Oh-One (Benedikt Frey Remix) 5:22 min
B2 One-Oh-One (Reprise) 0:53 min
Info:
YNK's 2nd EP for Polytone is much more than a continuation of his earlier records on Polytone and Tenderpark. Instead, the young artist wants his new EP to be seen as an autonomous work which draws on a multitude of different materials. This leads to a very fluid texture of samples, synths and drum machines and a very detailed structure at first sight - however, all elements fit into each other very nicely and make way for the bigger picture if you take a step back. The compelling main theme of "One-Oh-One" on the a-side subtly emerges as a reprise on the b-side of this record that deals with the various forms of happiness. Between these two sits Benedikt Frey's remix of "One-Oh-one" that creates a form of deepness rather unheard in his other productions - a kind of introverted free electronica that defies the boundaries of house and techno. All in all, "High On Endorphin, Low On Gasoline" is an EP which may be a bit more uncommon for the sound of Polytone. Nonetheless, the label from Frankfurt is very happy to have YNK back for a stunning new record. The artwork of the record comes courtesy of Lithuanian-born artist Kristina Suvorova.

Tracklist 12": A Maintain 7:39 min B1 Maintain (Bleak Scene Rework) 6:44 min B2 Maintain (Vince Watson Remix) 6:19 min
Info:
This is Matthias Vogt's third installment on Polytone Recordings!
With "Maintain" he proves distinct feeling for musicality once more: As Vogt is an accomplished Jazz pianist, he is able to move easily between uplifting drive and harmonic substructures. The flip side deals with the welcoming of two illustrious remix artists to Polytone's roster: Bleak and Vince Watson.
Bleak is renowned for having his musical output released on labels like Delsin and Deeply Rooted House. On remix duties Bleak drops hell of a Detroit vehicle. Based on significant drum grooves his remix will ultimately shake the dancefloor to its foundations.
Vince Watson's discography goes back to the mid-nineties and we vainly tried to keep track of his enormous musical output. Maintaining the spirit and the vibe of Vogt's original tune Vince Watson takes the original track and turns it into a string and pad driven sonic exploration perfectly fitting for Polytone's eclectic approach.

Matthias Vogt has been teaching lessons in

incl. emxs by
Antonelli & Drei Farben House
Easy House grooves and deep, chord-driven Techno –
two versions of electronic music Paulo Olarte is particularly
interested in as he has proven with his records on
Diynamic or his own imprint Fresh Fish. For his first 12“ on
Frankfurt's new entry, Polytone, former Hamburg-resident
Olarte gives full scope to his perferences. „Vayas Donde
Vayas“ comes with a wonderfully housey feeling and a rich
fund of harmonies, whereas „Sweet Sugar“ plays the role
of the Techno bouncer for the tradition-conscious and
discerning dancefloor with its deep Detroit flavour. In his
remix of „Vayas Donde Vayas“, Antonelli concentrates on
the lightness of the original and moves towards a
maximum of funkyness with a mulitude of thrilling details.
Drei Farben House rounds off the remix flip side with one
of his long suspense arrangements he has come to be
known for, which sends us to House heaven when the fine
chords eventually fully unfold. Polytone remains one of the
most interesting, diverse newcomers of recent times More
