Art Department, - Without You
Once in a while a record causes such a wave of excitement, it brings new vitality to dancefloors and generates fresh enthusiasm for the underground scene. 'Without You' is one such record, brought to life by the great talents of Art Department, a duo causing deep tremors due to their pioneering use of quivering bass, haunting vocals and fiery kickdrums. The A side features the vocals of techno's wonderchild, Seth Troxler, as well as Kenny Glasgow (one half of Art Department), his voice a major element of what makes their records so special. 'Vampire Night Club' layers the duo's trademark synth sounds with an eerie and skin-pinching atmosphere. A truly mesmerizing record that gives the perfect introduction to the Art Dept sound on Crosstown Rebels, pre-empting their debut full length album on the label next year. The double A and title track 'Without You' combines that unforgettable seductive bassline
with a lingering vocal call. This record could have been made in the future as much as the past, its simplicity and depth the key to its appeal. Calls for its release have been heard for months and now have been answered with an extended 12” mix. Art Department is the brainchild of Canadian duo Jonny White and Kenny Glasgow. With musical credentials dating back two decades, together they have constructed their own take on contemporary house
music that has caught the attention of some of the leading figures of the current movement. With an album slated on Crosstown Rebels next year, this single is the first in a long line of raw futuristic bullets destined to cause a storm with an international audience More

The definitive Cuttin Headz label welcomes global house icon Jonny White aka Art Department for a new EP that boasts two vital house cuts. Art Department is one of the most recognisable names in the underground scene. The solo project of No.19 Music label boss and Canadian Jonny White has graced high profile magazine front covers, headlined all the key festivals and events, and turned out some of house and techno’s most essential cuts in the last few years. These two new missiles show yet another sound and style to White’s arsenal, and are destined to make a huge impact in the club. First out of the blocks is the rock solid ‘Shame’ with razor sharp hi hats and tough, punchy drums. The excellent physicality of the groove is off set by a super soulful vocal sample up top, and as the track barrels along smart filters and a hypnotic lead are sure to get the whole club under a spell. Then comes the superb ‘Fixation’, a totally different but equally original proposition that is built on restless drum programming and twitchy synths. It’s a freaky late night cut that brings muscular grooves and absorbing bass to the floor for maximum destruction. This is a powerful new EP from Cuttin’ Headz and Art Department, two giants in the scene.

Hot on the heels of the recent Normalizm EP and 4-tracker that topped vinyl charts for Kerri Chandlers Kaoz Theory, Art Department drops a 3 track vinyl-only offering for this year’s Record Store Day, simply titled ‘A Record For Records Sake’. The release kicks off with a warm, filtered and looped sample work out featuring disco guitar licks and a simple, infectious key melody executed in typically raw Art Department fashion. The song comes with a “Dolled Up Mix” which sees subtle changes in filter work and mixdown to extract a different emotion from the record. The EP closes with a straight forward house offering in “d’igualada “, a stripped back and deep affair with muted jazz undertones and relentless rhythm section. A perfect vinyl contribution to celebrate Record Store Day from the veteran Art Department.

Kerri Chandler’s mighty Kaoz Theory welcomes an appropriately colossal figure from the dance world for its next EP, with Canadian artist Art Department aka Jonny White serving up four fantastic new tracks.
Now the lone force behind the world-famous Art Department project, White also heads up the decade strong No.19 Music as well as more recent label additions Social Experiment & Sunday Money. On tour, he can be found at the world’s leading clubs and festivals laying down emotive, forward thinking sets of underground house and techno that continue to evolve and inspire. His CV doesn’t stop there, with a passionate commitment to wildlife conservation leading to the formation of Music Against Animal Cruelty (MAAC), a non-profit organization which has seen White rally support from the music industry to make a real difference to a vital cause. Add to this his recent partnership in leading label and distribution company Subwax Bcn and it’s clear that White is a man on a mission.
As ever with Art Department, these latest tracks show another subtle evolution of sound, kicking off with the superb ‘Industry.’ This is a roller coaster ride through raw organic grooves with swirling pads and subtle vocal cries all layering up the intensity and guaranteeing a huge reaction. The equally impactful ‘Exit to Eden’ takes on a more swinging house vibe, with brilliantly loose drums shuffling along with a New York feel. Again, soulful vocal samples add steaminess to the groove, delivering a cut that is destined to lift the mood wherever it’s dropped.
The kicking ‘Boa’ picks up the pace once more with smart drum programming that gets you on your toes. It’s upright and driving, with raw hits and huge kicks powering you along as a timeless and nimble bassline bounces about down low. Closing things down in style, the excellent ‘Madbar’ is another high impact house cut with edgy chord stabs and bristling drums. The whole thing brims with house charm and is a perfect closing opus to the accomplished package.
These latest four offerings from Art Department mark another high for Kerri Chandler’s always on-point Kaoz Theory.

Art Department & Todd Terry Feat. Roland - Roots Deep
Sonny White’s Art Department returns this March with his first solo EP in nearly 3 years, the first of a string of releases planned for 2018. The record features three inventive new tracks, including one produced in association with New York house pioneer Toddy Terry and vocalist Roland Clark. First is ‘Sour Jazz’, a cut which intimately shows off White’s originality in the studio, delivering a sublime production rooted in driving, weighty drums and twisted bass. Up top, pained synths bring a sense of real emotion to the groove and as things unfold, keys run down the face of the arrange- ment. Clever breakdowns build the tension and the palpable heat, sweat and intensely of being lost in a packed dancefloor oozes out of the track, flooding you with feeling. The brilliantly bristling ‘721 (Queen St)’ shows off White’s ability to programme an essential and absorbing drum line: it is bouncy and big, elastic and lively, and cannot fail to get under your skin thanks to its instantly classic sound and old school flavour. The physical nature of those drums are offset with deft chords which dance up top and bring light to the track, while sax lines gently drift in and out for extra musical flavour.
And so to ‘Roots Deep’, a collaboration that spans the decades, back to the roots of house music with Todd Terry and Roland Clark. Reminiscent of earlier Art Department records with unforgettable hooks tied down with tough percussion, it is an immediately timeless anthem done as only this man can. Waves of synth and echoing vocal stabs set the stage, but it’s when the famous ‘in the beginning’ vocal starts that hands will go skyward and the club will erupt. It brings a near religious edge and gospel feel to the track, whilst a standout bassline tumbles down the scales to finish things in robust style. Once again here, Art Department combines a true understanding of dance-floor dynamics and house history with a unique sense of vision that ensures this is an EP packed with vital and inventive new sounds. Art Department, - Touch You Gently
Art Department are back on the mothership Crosstown to kick off 2012 in lurid style with a slice of slow burning, chugging disco-tech and pendulum beats in new single 'Touch You Gently'. The B-side is taken care of with a powerful Brenann Green rework of 'Tell Me Why', from the much lauded album 'The Drawing Board'. Fresh from topping the RA poll for best labels in 2011, Crosstown Rebels are launching the year with one of the finest duos to emerge out of the trailblazing Toronto scene, Jonny White and Kenny Glasgow aka Art Department. After two years of tearing up the global scene with their inimitable sound, one passionate debut album and stream of killer club tracks including 'Living The Life feat. Seth Troxler' and 'We Call Love', the duo earned a place as one of the years major success stories. A-side 'Touch You Gently' is an embryonic blend of spooky synths, gliding, sexy basslines and futuristic bleeps offset with the ever-presence of Kenny's hypnotic layered vox, as ever, a true testament to their individuality and off-kilter spirit. It's deeper than deep and a sensual brainteaser that shifts up a gear with a floaty melodic breakdown in the final phase. After attracting an impressive bag of remixers for 2011, including DJ Harvey, Daphi (aka Caribou), DBridge and TEED, It's no surprise that Crosstown have matched one of the most well-respected disco dons in the game with this release. Unlocking deeper dancefloor potential for 'Tell Me Why', NYC DJ and producer Brennan Green delivers his timeless groove with arpeggiated synths, syncopated drums, lush balaeric piano licks and whistles to boot. This remix is simply fantastic… come to that this single is simply superb!!

Electronic music heavyweight Kenny Glasgow is back with his much anticpated new solo album entitled ‘Circus Tales’. Right from the off, Glasgow’s dehumanised style is on full display. Robot vocals and rugged grooves are embellished with creepy melodies and unhinged synths. After that arresting opener, ‘Come On’ keeps up the pressure with prying bass and slick drums, and ‘Response From Mars’ gets dark and freaky with wonky chords, minimal drum programming and metallic textures that are industrial and inviting. Trying something fresh with each new track, the album switches up the moods and grooves with ease and style, and ‘floor slaying cuts like ‘Pro-to-Type’ and the melodically expansive ‘Everything is Breath’ prove that with aplomb. ‘Communication Meltdown’ proves Glasgow can play truly musical chords as well as programme drums to make dancers go wild, and the final trio of tracks get truly heady and hypnotic for the most discerning back rooms out there. This is a complete sound world from Glasgow that features a coherent and cohesive set of dance floor tracks. The whole thing is a masterful piece of forward facing work that will surely set the world alight this summer.

ralph lawson presents lost in time - Hold Over Me (Ralph Lawson Rise Up Dub)
For his latest musical outing Lawson has joined forced with a collective of musicians, vocalists and producers including original production partner Carl Finlow, Italian artist & producer Tuccillo, multi instrumentalist & vocalist Debukas and the legendary Chez Damier. Working under the name 'Lost in Time', the group share their name with the vinyl only single series that created such as buzz in 2014 with three slabs of vinyl including 'The Moment'by Lawson / Damier, which became a cult hit, played by Apollonia every week through the summer at DC10. As Lawson puts it "Lost in Time is a creative outlet for electronic music production inspired by old records sounding new and new records sounding old. We are now 'Lost in Time' - the boundaries are gone and we are free to roam through space and time." 'Hold Over Me' started life as an instrumental track by Lawson and Finlow which was then taken into Tuccillo's Unblock studio in Ibiza for the addition of vocals and further keys from Debukas and Tuccillo. Inspired by the Ibizan winter sun and a desire to make a classic sounding record for the modern dancefloor, 'Hold Over Me' was an obvious fit for No.19 Music and received the instant backing of label head Jonny White. The song is delivered in five different versions here, opening with the smooth, vocal house sounds of Ralph Lawson & Tuccillo vocal mix, replete with warm bass tones and classic piano motifs. The recently reformed 2020Vision strip things back, favouring FX laden stabs and a rolling rhythm section to provide the framework for Debukas' infectious vocal. Lawson's Rise Up Dub aims its sights squarely at the dancefloor with a mix that features a truly epic breakdown. The package is completed with superb dub and instrumental mixes from Lawson and Tuccillo that bring the synths and melodic elements to the fore.

The track will premiere on Pete Tong's legendary BBC Radio 1show on 17th October, before receiving an official release through No.19 Music on the 10th November. "Cruel Intentions" is a brooding whirlwind of hypnotic beats, layered synths and off-centre vocals courtesy of Kenny Glasgow. True to form, the track brims with Art Department's signature impeccable arrangement; simplistic perfection, distorted through a murderous bass line and raw textures, topped with hauntingly eerie spoken word verses by long-standing friend and collaborator, Seth Troxler. Stepping up for the first remix is revered house master and Ibadan Records boss Jerome Sydenham. His 'Deep Space Dub' reinterpretation is just that - it relies on classic sounding drums, seeing Jerome layer space-age melodies whilst permeating the track with a kinetic sense of intergalactic energy. One for the late night hours, it's a sumptuous affair from start to finish. Completing this most discerning package is Fred P, boss of the Soul People label and a true master of deep house, bringing two mixes to the table with his signature reshapes. Heavy drums, floating synth lines, which hover over the landscaped drums, really take the listener on a trip. Tension builds throughout and the original vocals are reduced to freaky, indecipherable mutters that add another level of intrigue to an already heady track. "Cruel Intentions" is an exquisite introduction to Art Department's forthcoming sophomore album

As No.19 Music celebrates it's fifth anniversary, Jonny White's highly influential label looks to hotly tipped Mexican DJ/producer Louie Fresco for the label's latest album release…
'Autophobia' shifts gears at this point, taking the listener into a series of cuts that give insight into Fresco's less dancefloor musical influences. A percussive slo-mo interlude in the shape of the 'Thrill Me' lays the way for the album's title track, an emotive and laid back recording that features the hauntingly ethereal vocals of Luna. Penultimate cut 'Hunter & Prey' stays in downtempo territory with its edgy and intense atmosphere driven forth by a killer rhythm section before Louie Fresco delivers his final gem, the epic early hours anthem that is 'Alternate Dimension (Nothing Will Fall Apart)', which brings things firmly back to the floor.
TRACKLISTING:
1. Missunderstood Featuring Aquarius Heaven , 2. White Suger (DUB) , 3. Do Ya , 4. So Good Interlude , 5. So Good (album version) , 6. Arabian Sexcapade 7. Thrill Me (interlude) , 8. Autophobia Featuring Luna , 9. Hunter & Prey , 10. Alternate Dimension (Nothing Will Fall Apart)

My Favorite Robot join forces with No.19 Music for the release of their stunning new artist album, ‘Atomic Age’ venturing deep into the realms of ethereal, vocal electronica and beyond as only they know how… The Toronto based trio, My Favorite Robot has risen through the musical ranks since their 2009 debut, to
become one of the most highly respected production outfits around. The pairing of James Teej, Jared Simms and Voytek Korab seems to be a match made in heaven with the MFR team running a highly successful label, touring the world with label showcases at the likes of BPM, WMC & Sonar and creating stunning original music
and remixes for labels such as Crosstown Rebels, Visionquest, their own My Favorite Robot Records and of course No.19 Music. The Robot’s connection to No.19 Music stretches back to the formative days for both, when a shared office in Toronto provided the base for Jonny White and the No.19 crew as well as My Favorite
Robot. Now, with both camps dominating the world stage it makes for the most natural of partnerships for the new My Favorite Robot album to find a home with the good folks at No.19. ‘Atomic Age’ is a beautifully crafted album that opens the doors on the inner sound of My Favorite Robot. Without a doubt it takes influences from the many dancefloors that the trio have rocked over the past few years but at its core this is a heartfelt and musical album that showcases the songwriting and performing talents of the three core members. Opening cut ‘The Circus’ sets the scene with its emotionally charged vocalperformance rising through a sea of synth driven electronica. From here there is a series of dark edged, yet highly engaging vocal cuts including ‘Here Tonight’, the spacey ‘Ride’ and the outstanding recent single ‘Looking for Frost’. Tracks such as ‘Home’ draw on a distinct 80’s electro feel, whilst the excellently titled ‘Centreofattentionaut’ cuts a deeper, hypnotic channel. The acidic stylings of title track ‘ Atomic Age’ reconnect the listener with the Robots’ Acid House credentials whilst ‘Sharpest Tongue’ delivers a classic, down tempo
electro shuffler with its layered vocals and discordant synths. Finally we have the full eight minutes of ‘The War to End All Wars’ that closes the album with style and leaves you wishing there was more. My Favorite Robot have walked a distinctly unique path over the past few years, building a sound that fuses elements from pop’s dark electro past with an intense forward stare into the future. ‘Atomic Age’ is a perfect reflection of that sound and a testament to abilities of the ever-inspiring Robot trio, enjoy!

Tone of Arc unleashes his stunning debut album on the world this spring in the shape of ‘The Time Was Right’, a genre defying LP that shines with the raw talent of its exceptional multi-instrumentalist producer… Tone of Arc has been generating a lot of excitement since joining forces with the red hot No.19 Music early lastyear. A string of highly anticipated live performances at Social Experiment parties in New York, Miami, London, Berlin and beyond have given birth to a reputation as one of the most exciting live performers around, whilst singles, ‘Shaking the Sky’ & ‘Goodbye Horses’ have given a tantalizing glimpse into the genuine raw musical talent of singer/song writer Derrick Boyd & partner Zoe Presnick. Boyd is no stranger to the music industry having already scored success with his Dead Seal project, but it seems his pairing with Presnick and his bond with Jonny White (who executive produced the album) and the No.19 crew has brought a fresh intensity to his work, allowing him to marry his passion for songwriting with his unbridled talent as a musician and performer. The product of all this is the wonderful ‘The Time Was Right’, an album that finally opens the doors onto the musical soul of Tone of Arc, allowing all to see what they are truly capable of. Tone of Arc has delivered a debut LP that is far beyond the reach of anyone’s expectations and in doing so has positioned No.19 Music as a label that defies classification and is seemingly capable of anything. Jonny White describes Derrick Boyd as “more talented than anyone I have ever know” and after listening to ‘The Time Was
Right’ it’s clear to see why, this is a simply stunning record that will find a place in the hearts of music lovers everywhere.

No.19 Music's Social Experiment continues with a stunning new chapter delivered courtesy of musical heavyweights Art Department and featuring an array of exclusive material…
Art Department are an act, that in the space of a few short years have become one of the biggest names on dance music's landscape. Musical partners Jonny White & Kenny Glasgow have a long history together, but it was with the launch of their Art Department moniker and their seminal releases through Crosstown Rebels that the pair came into the spotlight on the world stage. Debut album 'The Drawing Board' received rapturous support and their single 'Without You' was proclaimed a record of the year 2010 by the likes of Resident Advisor and Mixmag. Two years on and Art Department are riding high, touring the world and delivering their own unique party experience wherever they go, now they come together to compile and mix their first official compilation album capturing something of that experience in a stunning 72 minute mix.
No.19 Music's 'Social Experiment' compilation series was the obvious choice for this inaugural compilation from the pair, the imprint being owned & lovingly curated by Jonny White and the label's 'Social Experiment' parties having been a key part in the Art Department schedule, with sell out shows at Sonar, WMC (Miami), Fabric & Panorama bar. The previous chapter, 'Social Experiment 002' was mixed by Soul Clap and was a huge success for the label in 2011, now No.19 Music prepares for the release of what is set to be its biggest release to date, 'Art Department Social Experiment 003'.
The album features 14 tracks with some of the biggest and brightest names in electronic music making an appearance, 8 exclusives bring unheard cuts from the likes Jamie Jones, My Favorite Robot & Art Department themselves and the whole thing is tied together seamlessly with the duo's creative vision. Bookended with Art Department exclusives in the shape of 'Into the Dust Intro' and 'Insomniac', the mix takes an emotive and intense journey through the realms of twisted house music, deep techno and afterhour grooves, fusing uplifting vocal compositions with rolling instrumental workouts as only Jonny & Kenny know how. 'Robot Heart' the new single from Art Department, BLUD & Shaun Reeves makes a welcome appearance with the sultry London vocals of one Damian Lazarus adding to the mix and with the likes of Carl Craig, Robert Owens, Fuckpony, DJ Hell, Brian Ferry, Tale of Us & Ali Love featuring on the album, there is truly no shortage to the musical talent on offer here on a selection that shines from beginning to end.
'Social Experiment 003' is a beautiful snapshot of the sound Art Department at work and is set to become one of the defining compilation albums of 2013, enjoy.
