As the summer rolls on Ovum Recordings keep on serving up the hits. Having bathed in the deepness of Nico Lahs and danced under the sun to the vocal delights of Dirty Channels & Bugsy, the time has now come for us to get sweaty and get down with Technasia's "Bastille Days." For over thirteen years Charles Siegling, aka Technasia, has created a unique east/west fusion that moves seamlessly from the Paris club scene, to the streets of Hong Kong, to the hippest techno venues in Europe. Whilst best known for his melodic and often epic techno, Technasia is equally at home in the realms of filtered house and rolling tech, as perfectly displayed on his excellent "Central" album. 2012 has found Technasia primed and ready with new material and while his debut release for Cadenza has been tearing up the floors and charts for the past few weeks, we have been preparing our very own blistering debut from the Frenchman. "Bastille Days" is heavy rolling stuff. Its earth-moving kick drum impresses, but its the trademark Technasia synth that really takes the track to another level. This is after all the soundtrack to a revolution. The beats remain heavy on the flip, "Sunkiss" and belying its name, the track rolls out its tribal drums and crashing hats. Perfect for the summer floors.
Enjoy!

Technasia, - Michigan Ride
Technasia started out as a duo in 1997, consisting of Hong Kong native Amil Khan and French artist Charles Siegling. The duo had a lot of success with their wide-ranging techno releases on their own labels Sino and Technasia Records, as well as on respected labels like Music Man Records and Glass Splinters. In 2008, Khan left the group to raise a child and since then Technasia has lived on as a solo project of Siegling's. Technasia joined the Cadenza roster in January 2012, and 'Heart of Flesh' is Siegling's first release on the label.
With techno as a central blueprint for his rhythmical structures, Siegling explores three different moods on this EP that show Technasia's wide-ranging, more global approach to techno. The first track, 'Heart of Flesh', is an uptempo percussion-driven groove and features a spoken-word diva sample that Siegling manages to twist into delay heaven before throwing us off an almighty precipice. What follows is a late night, rolling tech house river that is impossible to escape. Like a torrent of white water beats, 'Heart of Flesh' pulls you under the surface with powerful undercurrents. Fans of tougher, more driving rhythms will appreciate the track is a gear above Cadenza's usual cool cruising speed. The second track 'Octaval' is less beat-centric and more musical. With a symphony of machine sounds combining into a song of sorts, the track is subtle and intelligent organic techno. With jovial notes that dance with a spring in their step, the pitter patter of downtrodden drums beneath leads us to a raw, futuristic tribal dance. Technasia throws in some indecipherable Spanish female vocals, which could easily have come from a sleazy Ibiza house cut circa 2001.
Final track 'Michigan Ride' hints at Motor City's past with warm dissonant stabs and a melodic underbelly. The loop Technasia builds is trippy, but it never forgets its purpose. Slowly pushing the dancefloor along, inch-by-inch, the cut slices through the early morning haze like a warm knife through butter. Touching on Berlin's new school dub techno sounds, Technasia also repeats intermittently, via a robotic vocal sample, the word "house", its meaning lost beneath the layers of genreless beats.

"Central' is the first new Technasia album in five years - and sure to be one of the musical highlights of 2010. The much-anticipated LP is powerful testimony to why Technasia is one of the most respected acts in electronic music.
Taking its name from the Hong Kong metro system, 'Central' is an emphatic creative statement that marks a new milestone an evolving story. Technasia mainstay Charles Siegling was in no hurry to put out an album: "I wanted to give my music time to evolve artistically before making a new record." The result of his patience is the purest Technasia album to date - a seamless interweaving of sounds, styles and moods.
Opener 'Apologia' bursts to life in a swirling, symphonic wash of sound that instantly assures the listener they are in good hands for the duration of the ride on the 'Central' line. "I deliberately avoided writing a record to reflect the current scene," Siegling says, "I wanted to do something that would last, to simply compose music the way I want to, and to reflect my different musical tastes. After a year of hard work I'm very pleased - I have achieved everything I set out to do."
'Central' views house and techno through the lens of Technasia's experience, creating a musical experience that is both refreshing and familiar. The melodic soul of the album may surprise some, who are most familiar with Technasia's fierce live techno sets, but it evokes a longer heritage. Fans who cherish the 'Fuse Presents Technasia' mix as well as the 2000 hit single 'Force', respectively voted one of Resident Advisors Top 50 Mix CDs and Top 50 Singles of the past decade, also will instantly recognize the signature blend of house, techno and electro - driven by an artistry that both acknowledges and pushes the boundaries of electronic music.

Renato Cohen twists and bites Technasia's rocking dancefloor anthem in this special remix edition of the original take. On the A, Grooving side to side like a king cobra on heat, this number is not for the faint hearted but rather more for those who want to see themselves lost in the pulsating lights and booming punch billowing from them woofers. On the B, a low end pumper, that will rock your jumper off like there is no tomorrow.

Some say Technasia reinvented emotive dancefloor techno, some say its the way they pump that whiplashes thousands into a frenzied hypnotic fit... Whatever the case is, there is no mystery in their ability to conjure up havoc at the place where it ultimately hurts, that of the den, the womb, the final dancefloor...Where ever and when ever Technasia unleashes "Oxide", one may as well call it home......you were warned.

Eight years since his last Ovum EP release and David Alvarado is back with the Land Of The Sunchild EP on Ovum. American born and Los Angeles bred DJ, producer, and artist David Alvarado continues a career that has spanned over 15 years, and is still considered to be one of electronic music's best kept secrets. He is best known for his work on some of the worlds most respected imprints such as Ovum, Ultra, Peacefrog, Yoshi Toshi, Plastic City, Strictly Rhythm, and Guidance, along with his early work on his own label Bomb Records. David began his career as a DJ running a renegade sound system and deejaying underground parties around the Los Angeles area. He quickly made an impact on the American electronic music scene with his unique style and signature music selection. His work as a producer and artist began to take root after a chance meeting with the legendary Plus 8 duo, Richie Hawtin and John Acquaviva, who stumbled across one of his very first works and invited him to be a part of their newly formed Definitive Records. From there David forged relationships, and created a body of work that would take him around the world, opening the door to performances at legendary clubs and events such as The Ministry of Sound, The Hacienda, E-Werk, Tresor, Florida 135, Row Club, Panorama Bar, The Arches, Extrema Festival, Sonar. David returns to Ovum after a 8 year hiatus from releasing on the label. His "Klugh" release still is regarded as one of the seminal tracks on the label and is still played today. David returns with a two track techno workout that should rock any dance-floor.

The tone always makes the music. But only those who actually make the sound? An ancient-house-avantgarde dream has always been there since the legendary -Warehouse- days of Ron Hardy, to bring more sounds and tones constantly to an independent, repetitive development. And thus beyond the limits of an executive creative artist on the otherwise purely commercial sense what we call in common -beyond imagination-.
-Raw Footage-, the latest album concoction of Chicago house legend Ron Trent (Prescription) on his new imprint -Electric Blue- works in the best sense of Stanislav Lem heroes Trurl & Klapauciusals, cruising like those two metal brains frantically invented by the universe of 4/4-Sounds to get insane tracks out of the new material matter located there, and put them together to brand new ones. This trackwerk varies as well as of course between classical Chi-Town to the context of contemporary, epic house dubs and lives in a perfidious manner from the interaction of various computer modules that constantly spits out new and exciting interactions. In the end, the software sings only as digital output of great analog sounds, which may well be understood as a mocking voice to the majority of contemporary Homeboy wackiness formats.-Unpredictable- and less -cryptic- might fit here as a keyword excellent, where you kick out of the rough house plant a significant entertainment value must, without the need to posess necessarily the same nerves of steel. Anyone who has ever really wondered what House sound could be appropriate for a journey through the vastness of the universe is, gets there now at this point completely to his fullest expense. Trent 2012 and its tracks on this album reflect a lot about the revolutionary founder of -Spirit of music- from the mid-80s, who is recorded then as now but with inadequate slogans such as -light years ahead of its time-. For as Trents body of work -Raw Footage- is also particularly scary genius material, although still of totally solid stress field and background from the musical spectrum between the Windy City and the Motor City engine bridled her.-But heres to the Future- – For Sir Trent more than twenty years after -Altered States- and the relevant follow-ups, thats not really a problem!

The tone always makes the music. But only those who actually make the sound? An ancient-house-avantgarde dream has always been there since the legendary "Warehouse" days of Ron Hardy, to bring more sounds and tones constantly to an independent, repetitive development. And thus beyond the limits of an executive creative artist on the otherwise purely commercial sense what we call in common „beyond imagination“.
"Raw Footage", the latest album concoction of Chicago house legend Ron Trent (Prescription) on his new imprint "Electric Blue" works in the best sense of Stanislav Lem heroes Trurl & Klapauciusals, cruising like those two metal brains frantically invented by the universe of 4/4-Sounds to get insane tracks out of the new material matter located there, and put them together to brand new ones. This trackwerk varies as well as of course between classical Chi-Town to the context of contemporary, epic house dubs and lives in a perfidious manner from the interaction of various computer modules that constantly spits out new and exciting interactions. In the end, the software sings only as digital output of great analog sounds, which may well be understood as a mocking voice to the majority of contemporary Homeboy wackiness formats."Unpredictable" and less "cryptic" might fit here as a keyword excellent, where you kick out of the rough house plant a significant entertainment value must, without the need to posess necessarily the same nerves of steel. Apotek Records takes a conversant and pliable approach to this Dialectic EP. Jerome Sydenham opens the technological fray with the title track "Dialectic". Deep swinging rhythms coupled with a deeply rooted dub vocal truly define its essential neoteric sensibilities.
Jerome Sydenham's remix of Macroism's "Drone" is a prime example of take no prisoners Berghain Techno – pure rumpus.
The B-side introduces the sophomore single from hot new Berlin talent Non Reversible. The track "Kuro" is absolutely unapologetic in its discharge of nebulous dark thunder techno. Powerful! On the last cut, Jerome Sydenham gets back behind the splicing desk, breaks out the razor blades and deftly edits the Echoplex classic "Pitch Break". The results is transcendent hypnotic techno bliss.

A1. Jerome Sydenham - Dialectic (Original Mix)
A2. Macroism - Drone (Jerome Sydenham Remix)
B1. Non Reversible - Kuro (Original Mix)
