"Central' is the first new Technasia album in five years - and sure to be one of the musical highlights of 2010. The much-anticipated LP is powerful testimony to why Technasia is one of the most respected acts in electronic music.
Taking its name from the Hong Kong metro system, 'Central' is an emphatic creative statement that marks a new milestone an evolving story. Technasia mainstay Charles Siegling was in no hurry to put out an album: "I wanted to give my music time to evolve artistically before making a new record." The result of his patience is the purest Technasia album to date - a seamless interweaving of sounds, styles and moods.
Opener 'Apologia' bursts to life in a swirling, symphonic wash of sound that instantly assures the listener they are in good hands for the duration of the ride on the 'Central' line. "I deliberately avoided writing a record to reflect the current scene," Siegling says, "I wanted to do something that would last, to simply compose music the way I want to, and to reflect my different musical tastes. After a year of hard work I'm very pleased - I have achieved everything I set out to do."
'Central' views house and techno through the lens of Technasia's experience, creating a musical experience that is both refreshing and familiar. The melodic soul of the album may surprise some, who are most familiar with Technasia's fierce live techno sets, but it evokes a longer heritage. Fans who cherish the 'Fuse Presents Technasia' mix as well as the 2000 hit single 'Force', respectively voted one of Resident Advisors Top 50 Mix CDs and Top 50 Singles of the past decade, also will instantly recognize the signature blend of house, techno and electro - driven by an artistry that both acknowledges and pushes the boundaries of electronic music.

As the summer rolls on Ovum Recordings keep on serving up the hits. Having bathed in the deepness of Nico Lahs and danced under the sun to the vocal delights of Dirty Channels & Bugsy, the time has now come for us to get sweaty and get down with Technasia's "Bastille Days." For over thirteen years Charles Siegling, aka Technasia, has created a unique east/west fusion that moves seamlessly from the Paris club scene, to the streets of Hong Kong, to the hippest techno venues in Europe. Whilst best known for his melodic and often epic techno, Technasia is equally at home in the realms of filtered house and rolling tech, as perfectly displayed on his excellent "Central" album. 2012 has found Technasia primed and ready with new material and while his debut release for Cadenza has been tearing up the floors and charts for the past few weeks, we have been preparing our very own blistering debut from the Frenchman. "Bastille Days" is heavy rolling stuff. Its earth-moving kick drum impresses, but its the trademark Technasia synth that really takes the track to another level. This is after all the soundtrack to a revolution. The beats remain heavy on the flip, "Sunkiss" and belying its name, the track rolls out its tribal drums and crashing hats. Perfect for the summer floors.
Enjoy!

Technasia started out as a duo in 1997, consisting of Hong Kong native Amil Khan and French artist Charles Siegling. The duo had a lot of success with their wide-ranging techno releases on their own labels Sino and Technasia Records, as well as on respected labels like Music Man Records and Glass Splinters. In 2008, Khan left the group to raise a child and since then Technasia has lived on as a solo project of Siegling's. Technasia joined the Cadenza roster in January 2012, and 'Heart of Flesh' is Siegling's first release on the label.
With techno as a central blueprint for his rhythmical structures, Siegling explores three different moods on this EP that show Technasia's wide-ranging, more global approach to techno. The first track, 'Heart of Flesh', is an uptempo percussion-driven groove and features a spoken-word diva sample that Siegling manages to twist into delay heaven before throwing us off an almighty precipice. What follows is a late night, rolling tech house river that is impossible to escape. Like a torrent of white water beats, 'Heart of Flesh' pulls you under the surface with powerful undercurrents. Fans of tougher, more driving rhythms will appreciate the track is a gear above Cadenza's usual cool cruising speed. The second track 'Octaval' is less beat-centric and more musical. With a symphony of machine sounds combining into a song of sorts, the track is subtle and intelligent organic techno. With jovial notes that dance with a spring in their step, the pitter patter of downtrodden drums beneath leads us to a raw, futuristic tribal dance. Technasia throws in some indecipherable Spanish female vocals, which could easily have come from a sleazy Ibiza house cut circa 2001.
Final track 'Michigan Ride' hints at Motor City's past with warm dissonant stabs and a melodic underbelly. The loop Technasia builds is trippy, but it never forgets its purpose. Slowly pushing the dancefloor along, inch-by-inch, the cut slices through the early morning haze like a warm knife through butter. Touching on Berlin's new school dub techno sounds, Technasia also repeats intermittently, via a robotic vocal sample, the word "house", its meaning lost beneath the layers of genreless beats.
