Delsin's considered re-issue and re-release arm follows up on EPs from Claro Intelecto and son.sine with a trip back to an early UK techno heyday. The man behind the two tracks getting attention is In Sync aka Lee Purkis, generally regarded as someone who played a key role in the development of house and techno in England not just because of his DJ sets - Purkis would travel to the US to buy records no one else had - but so too for his productions. A steady stream of them was released from 1992 onwards on Irdial Discs, Plink Plonk and Fortune8 and each one was to the furthermost of futuristic techno and deep, spacious house music. The re-issues presented here ('Storm' from a 1992 EP and 'Subway Route' alongside Pluto from 1993) have been fully licensed by Delsin from Irdial and have been transferred from the original master reel-to-reel tape for full authenticity. 'Storm' is an epic 12-minute plus track that travels to the furthest regions of out galaxy where warm so lar winds breeze past, the sound of spaceships circles you and a pinging kick drums drive you along. The hi hats are feathery light and jazzy and curious little alien synth sounds draw you deeper into this still futuristic sounding world. On the flip, 'Subway Route' is a 17-minute house trip that's lively and jazzy, airy and breezy and sounds like Boo Williams jamming with Carl Craig such is its hi tech sense of soul and seductive synth work. As ever this is a quality re-issue from Delsin that shines light on an often sadly overlooked producer and his truly pioneering discography. More

Collaboration project between Jauzas the Shining & Victoria Lukas featuring Ekman and Orgue Electronique. Lukas, drawing upon personal sensations, melds diary-like lyrics into dreamlike ambiance and textures, beautifully fusing with the infectious electro-pop grooves of Jauzas the Shining. Songs encapsulating lost love and longings for sensation, emotional stimulation and experiencing feelings through those of another are conveyed via vocal pieces, ‘Cold Sweat’ and ‘Coral Eyes’. Following the release of the Visonia collaboration with the mighty Dopplereffekt that delivered ‘Die Reisen’ on vinyl and digital formats earlier this year, Visonia returns with the anticipated debut album release entitled, ‘Impossible Romance’. Commencing with ‘Juana de Arco’, which edges finely the fragile border between expectant angst and hopeful optimism, this opening piece pretty much sets the tone for the album. Undulating between the highs and lows of human emotion which beautifully encompasses Visonia’s own conception of art – to hold hands and contribute to humanity; to give beauty, wisdom, or to simply open the listener’s mind in order to reflect and ask questions of one’s own self, one’s own existence; what we have here is at times a poetic soundscape of emotions, feelings, fears and positive expression. The album, in its double vinyl format includes the previously available collaboration with Dopplereffekt, namely ‘Die Reisen’, alongside an equally striking collab with New Wave/Synth Pop artist, Mad Moizel in the form of ‘Beat Frequencies’ and late addition to the album – the sleek, driving vision of ‘Between Lies and Real Looks’.

Astounding new material beamed via Shemale’s Atomic Allotment, concealed in an outermost shadowy recess of darkest Hyperborea. The musical paintbrush creates a harsh, barren landscape for ‘Hell Transformation Screens’, as deeply brooding electro and dramatic synthesisers propel each musical journey in its own unique style. There is an indescribable and mystifying tension which builds within the work of Shemale, the opening cut, ‘Dead City Photographs’ being a prime example. The soundbite here simply cannot pay justice to this tack as a whole, as the intro (which incidentally cannot be heard in the sample) is quite simply outstanding, with deadly, steely synths preparing the listener for an unmistakable and impending doom, which is ultimately realized in the dense, desolate sense of desperation interpreted in the final ambient-drones of ‘Tomb’. The first phase in the breath-taking new musical project from Hadamard, who of course we know from earlier projects via Bunker, Transient Force, Mighty Robot and more recently featuring on compilations via our friends at Solar One Music. ‘Emergent Behaviour’ is what one might determine the calm before the storm, as we dive into the second instalment of ‘The Jupiter Cycle’, as the drifting ambience and somewhat ominous synths proceed ‘Abstract Thought’, itself a stubborn barrage of hardened electro beats, rigid stabs, crystalizing and melding into an explosive mayhem and of course, ‘The Ghost in the Machine’, if anything a more traditional styled, yet irresistible electro hit. ‘The Deep’ showcases Hadamard in a distinctly experimental mode, where all the fine details are tuned to perfection for maximum atmosphere.
