downtown party network - No Drama Afterhours
Downtown Party Network, AKA Lithuanian duo Algirdas Miescionaitis and Mindaugas Lapinskis, already come with an excellent pedigree of disco licked tunes for quality imprints like Eskimo, Is It Balearic? Recordings and Dirt Crew. And so their debut appearance on Futureboogie seems like a most comfortable fit, with the 'Disco Ball Drama' extended player providing three shining examples of their delicious grooves. Title cut, 'Disco Ball Drama' cuts a familiar beat with a rolling and gritty acid-like arpeggio, the classy pads smoothing out the rougher edges and providing huge swashes of sunshine moments on this real mid-season winner.
'Keep On Running' on the flip side turns out a heads down, boogie-fest, with its elastic bassline, deep Rhodes chords and lively percussion doing the business here.
Closing the release is 'No Drama Afterhours', going down the cosmic alley for a slightly deeper cut from the duo. Spatial pads and looping syth arps gently collide over the swinging disco drums whilst the bass plays out an infectious melody, one for the 'afterhours' indeed.

We are very pleased to have the Lithuanian Space Disco Masters “Downtown Party Network” doing a very special 10” release on Dirt Crew. Mostly known for their brilliant releases on “Best Kept Secret” and “Silence Music” the Vilnius based Saulty and Bradka have proven over the years to be experts in producing haunted Electro and Disco influenced Deep House tracks. The A-side track “In The Air” is a glorious ecstatic dance floor burner with it’s fragile female vocal sample and funky bass line it takes us right back to some of the best early nineties House moments. The B-side features the darker and more electroide “Call On Me” that could easily be taken from a mid 80’s cosmic album. It has this laid back Italo groove and long stretching pads and chords that just put you under a spell. The reverbs and space like bendings in this track are very haunting. The bass is groovy and funky, a real new funk electro track. Hope you enjoy playing these two jams out as much as we do! More

Downtown Party Network from Lithuania have been behind some serious releases and remixes over the last few years. Combining Disco influences with a knack for crafting weighty and warm deep House of the highest order... For their IIB debut they've produced a duo of dreamy, melodic and irresistable Vocal House gems which stand tall in their own right. As ever, the IIB team have drafted in some seriously heavyweight remixers. Veteran UK producer Richard Norris AKA THE TIME & SPACE MACHINE has delivered a truly superb rework of 'The Returning'. Bringing the live elements of the track to the fore and unleashing a dazzling ' eyes closed on the dancefloor' moment, and a bit of a classic in our humble opinion ! Finally Scandanavian Disco legend PRINS THOMAS takes on the same track and transforms it into an epic, spacious mix, underpinned by a widescreen Acid bass and relentless, building groove

Saulty and Bradka, the two behind Vilnius based Downtown Party Network tag team, combine together more than 10 years of DJ and production experience. Their original productions have been signed by Eskimo, Loud East, Bear Funk. Their remix work has been commissioned by Pete Herbert, Kolombo, Main Stem, Deadstock 33's, TJ Kong & Nuno Dos Santos and even Sander Kleinenberg. Their gig geography ranges from London to Dubai. Which doesn't give even a tiny shadow of doubt on their musical credibility and ability to rock the party. Here they deliver the first single of another kind for Best Kept Secret - killer bass line combined with irresistible Jazz chords on A side and some Metro Area'ish stripped down funkiness on B side. Dance music machinery at its best.

Futureboogie continue to shine a spotlight on Bristol’s ever-burgeoning music scene, with an EP from Natural Sugars, backed with a firing remix from accomplished Lithuanian DJ, Manfredas! Having previously cropped up on Glasgow’s Invisible, Inc. label, Tim Oxley Smith’s Natural Sugars project serves up some top-drawer sunshine vibes on the ‘Zombie Jungle’ EP. The title track pulls down the sun visor for an exotic and alluring mix of tropical beats and proto-house elements, whilst a dubbed out mood is cast over the chugging Balearica of ‘The Soothsayer’. Manfredas has cut his teeth on the DJ circuit to become a most in demand selector on the leftfield circuit, and makes a rare foray into remix territory with a spicy version of ‘Zombie Jungle’. Thick bass synth over charging Italo beats, a touch of cowbells and a ‘hands in the air’ inducing breakdown, what’s not to love! ‘Sarsen Trail’ rounds things off with hovering keys, subtle acid and chorused guitar licks over a chugging rhythm

As the Autumnal nights draw in, Futureboogie show off a slightly darker edge to their ever expanding roster of artists, welcoming re-edit king Mark E to the fold. The Birmingham based DJ and producer has risen steadily through the musical ranks over the last few years, cropping up on a multitude of top drawer labels like Sonar Kollectiv, Running Back, Golf Channel, his own Merc imprint, and most recently a brace of albums for the US label Spectral Sound (home to Matthew Dear, Osborne et al). Title track, 'Activity' chugs at a house music pace but with plenty of techno swagger, bridging the gap between the two genres with ease. A simple and minimal beat is doused in a pacey acid bassline riff that's constantly morphing and transposing, layers of synths join in the infectious melody whilst soaring pads rise up with all the familiarity of a Detroit techno classic.
