Special Remarks: Heavy reworks from Deepchild and Sqim of Princess Di's classic, Who's Dick Is This.
Tracklist EP: A1. Who's Dick Is This (Sqim Ghetto Mix) A2. Who's Dick Is This (Sqim Warm Up Mix) B1. Who's Dick Is This (Deepchild Cockumentary Retug) B2. Who's Dick Is This (Deepchild Straight Dub)
Once again Danse Club Records have unearthed a forgotten and sorely overlooked house track here, then they have enlisted a fine pair of contemporary producers - Sqim and Deepchild - to remix it and bring it right up to date. The original, 'Who's Dick Is This' is a 1994 kicking house bomb by the mysterious Princess Di, who released but three EPs during the 90s on Music Station with this track being the pick of the bunch. German producer Sqim is associated with labels like Exploited and Play It Down and firstly offers up a Ghetto Mix of the track. The result is a big and physical house track with sleazy samples, heavyweight drums and a kinetic energy throughout The warm up mix by the same man is a much deeper affair, as you'd expect from the name. This one resides in a much warmer and more inviting groove and is coloured with deft synths as it slowly builds in phases. The elastic vocals dart about above the drums, bringing with them a lively sense of soul and funk before Deepchild offers his own two unique versions. From quirky, stripped-back techno injected with soul to deep, dub-inflected excursions, Berlin based Australian Deepchild can do it all. Here he offers his 'Cockumentary Retug' a ragged and raging techno version riddled with spoken word samples culled from a documentary about penis size. Its dark and involving and sure will get great reactions on the floor. The final version is a straight dub that journeys in a heavy groove, has some weird spoken word snippets melted into it and is lit up with some celestial synth patterns in the latter half.Another great find by Danse Club complemented by some choice remixes adds up to yet another essential release from this ever more impressive label.

groove armada & brodanse - Advancing Man Feat. Kevin Knapp (GA Advancing Dub)
UPC 827170546165 Rel date 21.4.2014
Tracklist EP: A1. Advancing Man Feat. Kevin Knapp (Danse Club Remix) B1. Advancing Man Feat. Kevin Knapp (Original Mix) B2. Advancing Man Feat. Kevin Knapp (GA Advancing Dub)
Following on from the 2013 hit 'Sweat Feat. Cari Golden' (which topped the Beatport charts and was played on Radio 1 by Pete Tong) comes 'Part 2' in the collaboration series between Groove Armada and Brodanse. The two duos come together once again but this time they work alongside Kevin Knapp who many will know from his slick productions with Audiojack, Richie Ahmed and Matt Tolfrey. Originally intended as the 'alternate mix' the A1 is actually a remix by some of the original artists themselves: Tom Findlay (Groove Armada), Brodanse and Severino (Horse Meat Disco) in their new alter ego, 'Danse Club' named appropriately after the label. Simply put it is a dark looping groover making full use of the vocals with a killer breakdown, a hypnotic melody and some very addictive vocal hits! The B1 a.k.a. 'The Original Mix' again features the full vocals as written by Kevin Knapp and Austen and Scott Smart (Brodanse). This version however uses a bassline which according to Mr. G is 'just bad to the bone'; add that to very simple but effective lead sound, a dominant shaker and an arrangement made only with 'the main room' in mind and you have a track which in its own right could have easily been then A1. The B2 is called 'GA's Advancing Dub' and it really is that, a dub made for the darkest hours of the night. It makes use of a stripped back groove for the most complimented with sparse vocal stabs and some very unique perc sounds throughout. Written with one thing in mind (dance floor destruction) it makes use of a building chord which just keeps going - into the breakdown and out the other side - this version really is a sure fire thing to take any dance floor up a level (or two)!

Tracklist EP: A1. Context (Original Mix) A2. Aint No Time (Original Mix) B1. Context (Boris Werner Remix) B2. Spearmint (Original Mix)
The third release in Danse Club's Black Series is a collaborative effort between Dutch tech house hero Lauhaus and countryman Rik Woldring with a standout remix from Boris Werner. Lauhaus has long been at the heart of the underground electronic music scene, releasing on go-to imprints like 100% Pure and Area remote as well as his own Soweso and We Dig. labels, whilst Rik Woldring is very much a talent on the rise who has impressed in Amsterdam with his unique after hours DJ sets. Together the pair crafts some infectious and charismatic grooves that fit perfectly with the increasingly essential Danse Club . Opening track 'Context' is a tight arrangement of looping bass, silky and silvery percussion and myriad sonic effects that create intrigue from start to finish. It's the sort of thing that makes you sweat on the floor but has enough detail to keep your mind occupied, too. Boris Werner, another stalwart of the Dutch tech scene, turns in a superb mix of 'Context'. His remix is deeper and more stripped back, with bobbling drums and perfect claps driving the thing along. Subtle pads warm things through and shadowy voices bring a sense of light night mischief to proceedings. Lauhaus & Rik Woldring then turn in 'Aint No Time', a liquid bit of shape shifting tech house funk that is rich with colourful melodies and well placed spoken word musings. It's music for the floor that is fun as well as functional and last track 'Spearmint' is just the same. This ones a bit tougher and more taught with rubbery synth and basslines wrapping round each other for 9 heady minutes as delightful synth patterns slowly smear and spread in the skies up top. Another cultured release from the Danse Club label that proves tech house, when done well, is still a hugely rewarding genre.

Tracklist EP: A1. Sweat (Club) B1. Sweat (Deep)
The Danse Club label is fast becoming an essential deep house outlet thanks to a solid stream of originals and remixes from artists old and new alike including Cherie Lee, The Burrell Brothers and label bosses Brodanse. Here, said bosses team up with vocalist Cari Golden and resurgent beatsmiths Groove Armada for a huge new track that has already been road tested in Ibiza and has drawn all the right reactions. Groove Armada of course are right at the sharp end of the house world once again having sunken themselves back in the underground with many gigs in Ibiza this summer as well as releases on labels like Hypercolour. LA’s singersongwriter and vocalist Cari Golden, meanwhile, has long been lending her voice to house cuts from the likes of DJ T and Fur Coat, and here lays down another anthemic line that helps this track stand head and shoulders above the competition. ‘Sweat’ (Club) is a big bouncy house track with neon synth stabs, raw and thumping kick drums and icy hi hats that all coalesce into a barnstorming peaktime track designed for maximum destruction. It’s simple but effective, economic but efficient in terms of design and keeps your attention locked for seven minutes of inescapable house tension. The deep version is less rigid and regimented, there is more swing in the drums and percussion and a golden glow of warmth radiates from within. The vocal here is also smoother and creamier, making its
way into your heart as the waify chords add more layers of sonic richness. This is one for sundown rather than handsup moments and perfectly encapsulates the forward facing house vibe the Danse Club label embodies. More

Tracklist EP: A1. I Got Something Here (Lauhaus Remix) A2. I Got Something Here (Brodanse Remix) B1. I Got Something Here (John Jastszebski Remix) (Vinyl Only) B2. I Got Something Here (Original Mix)
Following on from big releases by the likes of Cherie Lee, the storming Danse Club Records are back with another big house classic that comes complete with on point remixes from Dutch tech house hero Lauhaus, label bosses Brodanse plus Bass Culture alumni John Jastszebski who’s version will be vinyl only. Kalisha’s original is a classic house beat released on N Sync Inc back in 1992, but it still sounds hugely on point. With garage inflected beats, grainy, catchy percussion and pristine chord stabs it is an ebullient jam that brims with personality. The recognisable vocal samples help take it to the next level and mean it cannot fail to fill dancefloors everywhere. Updating the track for modern listeners are the three remixes. First is 100% and Area Remote stalwart Lauhaus who has long been a champion of loopy tech house. His version is much more punchy right
from the off. The kicks are bulbous and the chords more metallic whilst the vocal is allowed to shine through at various points, just when you need it. The Brodanse brothers then do their educated thing by stripping the track back to eerie FX and thick wavey bass tones. Little melodic hooks pan left and right and imbue the whole thing with plenty of dynamism and the much more sparring use of the vocal helps make this a track very much with its own identity. Finally, vinyl buyers will be treated to an extra remix from fast rising French producer John Jastszebski. His version is stripped to the raw techno leaning bones. The textures are dark and broody and the groove New Release Information is heavyweight and wellchiselled meaning it locks you in place and keeps you there right until the last rotation. Another timely house rerelease from Danse Club then, but as ever one which comes with some fantastic modern updates to keep things moving forwards. More

More

A1. Activate feat. Cari Golden (Original Mix) A2. Activate feat. Cari Golden (Lumino Remix) B1. Activate feat. Cari Golden (Oliver $ Back To School Mix)
Danse Club label bosses Scott & Austen Smart AKA Brodanse unleash their first release on the label, the superb 'Activate' featuring vocals from Cari Golden and remixes from Oliver $ and Lumino… Danse Club Records launched in the latter months of 2012 and has, to date, built a solid reputation with its remixed and re-issued 90's US house classics. That however, was always just part of the plan for label bosses Scott & Austen Smart, the sibling duo whose passion for electronic music gave birth to the imprint. Working together as Brodanse, Scott & Austen have been behind two of the remixes released on the label to date joining the likes of Matt Tolfrey, Oliver $ and Just Be to name a few. The bigger plan however was always to develop the label's release schedule with new original releases sitting alongside the re-issued 'Gold Series' records and so the first of these new releases comes fittingly from Brodanse themselves. 'Activate' is not the pair's debut single, coming as it does, hot on the heels of the excellent release for Chicago's Fresh Meat Records. The in demand Brodanse also have a single lined up with the highly respected Fullbarr imprint, but this is something special, released on their own label and featuring vocals from the ever-excellent Cari Golden. The release kicks off with the original version of 'Activate', a pulsing slice of vocal house that employs a simple bass driven groove to provide the soundbed for Cari Golden's distinctive vocals. A peppering of emotive piano chords and swirling FX bring further depth to the mix whilst the arrangement keeps drawing the attention back to that insistent groove, quality stuff. The first of the two remixes sees Berlin's Oliver $ drop an intense, heady house mix built around a nagging old school riff that is understated but brilliant. To close the package Lumino drop a deliciously deep house mix that lets the vocals breath with some simple stabs before building towards a climatic breakdown. 'Activate' is further testament that Brodanse should be on everyone' s watch list for 2013, enjoy!

A1. Non Stop (Just Be Insomniac Mix) A2. Non Stop (Lula Circus Remix) B1. Non Stop (Chubby Dubz Remix) B2. Non Stop (Club Dub)
Brodanse's Danse Club Records returns with another 90's New Jersey gem reworked for 2013 with remix duties this time going to Just Be, Lula Circus & Chubby Dubz… Danse Club Records, the label started by DJ/production sibling duo Brodanse has made a sterling start so far with releases of classic 90's US house cuts remixed by the likes of Matt Tolfrey, Oliver $, Moodymanc & Brodanse themselves. The reaction has been outstanding at a time where there is an obvious embracing of all things nineties and DJs such as Danny Tenaglia, Maxxi Soundsytem, Seth Troxler, Huxley & Dusky have been queuing up to lend their backing. For their latest release Danse Club look once again to New Jersey's historic shores, this time picking up an old record from US soul house duo The Burrell Brothers and drafting in three hot production acts to rework this much loved tune. To start the package we have the original 'club dub' version, giving an insight into the records history with it's mid nineties feel and production still standing up wonderfully. The first of the remixes sees Crosstown Rebels and Get Physical artist Just Be AKA Matthew Bushwaka deliver his 'Insomniac mix', a bumping slice of underground house music that marries a bass driven groove, organic percussion and subtle melodic elements with snippets of the vocal to supreme effect. Next up we have Italian production duo Lula Circus whose releases for the likes of Culprit and Noir have been creating quite a stir. Here they deliver a brilliant rework of 'Non Stop' in the shape of a deep old school house workout that makes the most of the soulful vocals with its simplistic, hypnotic backing. With its timeless quality, this mix is certain to be mainstay in DJ boxes for months and years to come. The penultimate version sees the excellent Chubby Dubz offer up an outstanding mix that cuts and pastes the original parts in a raw house style. Closing the package there is a bonus dub of Just Be's Insomniac mix that rounds things off nicely. This is another winning package from the Danse Club label and with original artist material from Brodanse in the pipeline alongside further remix packages there is much to look forward to.
