When Recondite, AKA Lorenz Brunner, emerged with his debut LP for Acid Test (2012's On Acid), we were still learning about the German producer's inward-
looking dance floor sound. A few years later, his sinewy jams have proved near universal -- like an underground Zelig, he's fit perfectly everywhere from Rødhåd's Dystopian to Ghostly International and Innervisions. Acid Test also allows Recondite the chance to indulge his more outré tendencies and a welcomed return it is.

Recondite returns to his Plangent label in January 2022 with a hugely personal seventh studio album,
Taum.
The tracks were written between his Berlin home and the Lower Bavaria hinterland of his youth. In
capturing the array of emotions, he was feeling during the pandemic and mixing up both pastoral and
urban influences, the album is his most diverse to date. It takes in classic Recondite tracks that are deep,
melodic and meditative as well more edgy, darker beats inspired by his lifelong love of hip hop, grime and
trap.
With Taum, Recondite takes his signature sounds further than ever before. More

Recondite has announced his fifth album, Daemmerlicht , due out in February on his own Plangent Records. Translated as "fading light," the new album finds the Bavarian musician exploring novel territory, combining his love of instrumental hip hop and downbeat with ambient and classical music.
The result is Recondite's most focused, meditative work yet. From the haunting soundscapes of "Lichtung," to the cinematic beauty of closing track "Immer Da," the album demonstrates a new level of sophistication to Lorenz Brunner's venerated catalogue of work. A long time friend of the label and an artist who needs no introduction, Recondite presents two unique techno narratives for his much anticipated first EP on Life and Death. Up first and straight out the gate like the turning of the great Boethian wheel, Think Twice turns over and on top of itself again, like the march of time and the fortunes of paupers and princes alike. An ever advancing urgent reminder of the transitory nature of the eternal now, it graces us with her beauty and leaves us with a shaking sensation deep in our bones. On the B side, Serak begins with a bellowing bass emitted like a series of holotropic breaths from belly of Stanislav Grof himself. A sequence of sounds sent like a fishing line to the depths of the psyche, it returns with a portentous melody that winds and wanders until exploding midway thru the piece in a burst of restrained emotion. Trolldans once again opens its musical tome of fairy tales, this time featuring the gif-ted sound sculptor Edanticonf. In his chapter of the Trolldans volume, Edanticonf presents us with The Three Crying Fairies. It is a tale in four parts of desire and tears - as every good story should be. The First Fairy tells us about a lake in the deep woods where a young princess called Tuvstarr once lost her gold heart. No creature of the forest could convince the princess to let it go, and so she stayed there by the black lake until she turned into a beautiful flower. The Second Fairy tells us how the princess, before she lost her precious necklace, would ride like the wind through the forest on the back a grand elk. The princess loved the thrill and the elk loved the princess. Vril steps in and actually let's us hear the noble elk's heart racing from both the pace and his devotion to Tuvstarr. The Third Fairy ends Endanticonf's beautiful but melancholy tale with a glimmer of hope: By the darkest of lakes, the loveliest flo-wers grow. The End.

For her Trolldans release, Skirt has chosen an arresting cover by John Bauer depicting a shining princess dressed all in white, seemingly revered by four trolls struck by her beauty. But as the title of the EP tells, it's a Mirage. When the music starts, you just know the trolls are done for. Because while there's certainly light in this EP, it's not a warm glow emanating from a sweet little princess. No, it's a ghostly shiver of light emanating from a dark and forgotten place where no light ought to be found at all. Skirt creates visions of thick fog rising from insidious marshes; a mourning veil caught in a dead tree in a deserted graveyard; a massive dust-covered church organ playing for itself in a long crumbled chapel. But there's a clear sense of pace and motion too: below the sweeping, eerie sounds there are beats of stuttering hearts and shaking bones triggering bodily movement. Lakker adds to this with their heavy, pulsating remix, and even brings some playfulness to the table before they too descends into complete darkness. This is a haunted record. A true Mirage.

Albert van Abbe has truly gained momentum this year with his new self-titled label VANABBE, a successful Berghain live debut as well as releases on Shipwrec and now Trolldans. And you can tell! This Trolldans release is filled with confidence and lucidity. The term Ostinato refers to a continuously repeated musical pattern. It's usually used in reference to classical music, but is well suited here. This Ostinato, this stubbornness, gives the music a sense of pace and propulsion. Yet – as ever with Trolldans – there is a kind of melancholy present too. But it's a kind of melancholy that gives one strength rather than tears; a melancholy that makes your jaws clench in resolution. Look at John Bauer's ancient Mountain King on the cover. He has been dwelling there on the top of the mountain for so long that he himself has become part of it. His back is bent and his eyes are dim. But the air is changing; it's getting clearer and crisper and alluring melodic fragments are floating through it, reaching the King's overgrown ears. Suddenly for the first time for many decades he is overwhelmed by the impulse of standing up. The forest itself senses the King's intentions and starts pulsating with rhythms, urging him on. He grips the mountain side with his giant hands and raises his head, breathing deeply. It is time. This sense of determination and clarity is what Albert Van Abbe manages to convey with this Trolldans release. The Mountain King was moved by Ostinato. As should you. More

Following the debuting "Walduft" EP by Recondite, Swedish boutique label "Trolldans" is finally ready to present the 002 release in their catalogue. On Moderskärlek, Claudio PRC, presents a magical dimension of dance music, featuring dense hypnotising rhythms and trance-like atmospheres.
Semantica label-boss Svreca has experimented with complex noisy textures on his remix of the a-title track "992 hpa", bringing the feeling of the northern winter to the listeners mind. Moods before genres. For us good music will always just be good music.
