Shenoda - Burn (Juxta Position Remix)
Tracklist
A1 Burn
B1 Vista
B2 Burn (Juxta Position remix)
Info: Aus welcome back label favourite Shenoda for his third release on the label, 'Burn' backed with a remix from Juxta Position. Previous releases on Hypercolour & Electric Minds have seen Shenoda firmly on the ascent but it's in his recent outings on Aus that his bold, rugged club music has really reached its zenith. 'Burn' follows suit with its predecessors with its power being rooted in seismic, analogue drums that are balanced against soft, allaying melodies.
The muscular 'Vista' then rolls out punching stabs and tight, shuffling drums before label mate Marquis Hawkes dusts off his Juxta Position alias and delivers a pacey and forthright take on 'Burn'. Melodies are softly mangled and given a spectral quality that recalls his 'Mazury' on DVS1's Mistress wrapping another solid addition to the catalogue as the Aus Music family continue to deliver the goods.

Shenoda - Shores
Tracklist:
A1 'Musical Mob' A2 'Blame' B1 'Shores'
Info:
Aus follow up releases from Bwana, Sei A and Fold with the welcome return of Shenoda with his Chromatic EP. Throughout a catalogue that's included 12"s for Hypercolour and Manmakemusic as well as his exceptional debut 'Labour' EP on Aus last year he has consistently and capably melded House and Techno signified by his burly drum work and long, stirring breakdowns.
His 'Chromatic' EP packs in three powerful cuts with Blame, a track that drives a dense, staggered kick under blood-curdling tension and dramatic synth builds. 'Musical Mob' then follows up with scuffling drums and a bold, peak-hour synth line before 'Shores' closes up with a shimmering sound-build giving way to a dense and full bodied bass pattern.

Shenoda steps up to the plate for ManMakeMusic's final offering of 2013. Having already caught the attention of Matthew Dear, Mattias Tanzmann, Skream and Martyn for with his earlier outings on Defected, Hypercolour and Losing Suki, Shenoda gives us a superb 3 tracker of hefty, garage-infused house. The EP shows Shenoda's musical gifts alongside first-rate production skills and we predict that it will have many a winter dance shaking to the rafters.

Shenoda’s forthcoming release on Hypercolour’s little sister label Losing Suki (run by Kings of the Underground Jamie Russell and Alex Jones) is called ‘A Homage’ EP and is a painfully on point exploration of modern interpretations of garage. Shenoda, a UK based producer, DJ and freelance composer, has had previous releases out on Hypercolour, Fear Of Flying and Connaissour and has had ongoing support from underground heavyweights Mosca, Deetron and Martyn with his mid-2011 ‘Shots EP’. After recently bringing down the house (or shall we say tent) at Gottwood with a set that rivalled some of the most prolific acts there, Shenoda is quickly rising through the undercurrents of this new wave of super talented producers. 'A Homage’ EP is a three track adventure of garage, house and techno and compiles in one release the sounds that the kids just cannot get enough of at the moment. The first track ‘Flex’ has a menacing, soul drilling sub bass, fast paced snares and whirring chords. One for the warehouse, big sound bass and affected vocals will have the rave arms pumping and the screwfaces forming nicely. ‘Bubbles’ has the same fusion house/garage vibe; complex drum patterns, percussive claps and disjointed vocal samples, with the continuing growling sub bass. High hit snares and well concocted rising and falling compositions means this track is constantly re-exploding, with consistent spine tingling drops. ‘Every Time I Say’ has the garage pitched up vocal cry, stepping kick drum and is the most ‘garage’ out of the three. Two-steppy, high note ‘baby girl’ vocals ensure this wouldn’t be out of place in a Vauxhall rave circa 98, but it’s fresher than that, and of course, beautifully produced. The honest truth is that this EP can only be described as ‘naughty’. Shenoda’s showcased his talent in a way that is perfectly in tune with the current soundscape trends of the moment and has executed it with brutal perfection, adding his own new unique twist. Down to the warehouse please.

To round off 2011 Fear of Flying enlist the talents of Shenoda, a name that may be familiar to a few of you who follow the UK based 'Hypercolour' label. The 'Mines of Minolta EP' kicks off with 'Phone Call' - harnessing the essence of Steve O'Sullivan's Bluetrain project the track runs deep with a dubbed out bassline and moody stylings a plenty. The flip sides two tracks inject a lighter, uplifting feel with 'Night Eater' shuffling along on a blissed out pad and solid percussion. 'Supercede' follows on nicely with the same warm vibe to round off a really solid package and a great way for FOF to sign off for the year.

Electric Avenue artist J Cub is at the helm for the third release from Saints & Sonnets, a label that continues to justify the widespread hype laid upon Huxley, the Deep House poster boy that runs it. Much like J Cub's previous work on Electric Avenue and Foot & Mouth, "Crying Over You" is a perfectly judged slice of deep house, with the gently rising emotive production made all the more memorable by a excellent vocal turn from Bibi. Saints & Sonnets also keep up their impressive track record for remix commissions as two of electronic music's best vowel eschewers contribute excellent and varied revisions. Rush Hour's BNJMN elects to dice up the vocal refrain as well adding some rhythmic kinks to the original's straightforward groove, yet it's the way he reinterprets the melodic element as a monstrous wave of synthetic emotion that makes this remix special. In contrast RNDM opts for the kind of stripped down groove you'd expect from a Laid artist, allowing him the space to loop up Bibi's vocal and treat it to all manner of delay atop an increasingly expansive melange of audio vibes.

Jimmy Posters and Huxley's new imprint Saints & Sonnets present their debut EP from production duo Ethyl & Huxley with the 3 Feet High EP. Deep, powerful and rounded deep house is on the menu for release number one as strong bass holds down light melodies and slurry vocals for an undoubtedly peak time record. Electronic chameleon and self proclaimed dandy Roman Flugel is in for remix duty and his dubby "Mix 2" flirts with push and pull percussion and chopped vocal snippets for a delightfully experimental revision.
