We have been proud to watch the rise of Oleg Poliakov after he first joined our ranks with Datcha Musik way back in 2007. Since first swearing allegiance to the Circus, he has continued to unfurl a refined approach to house and techno that carefully balances a respectful mastery of the classic tropes of the genre with his own instinct for seductive melodic content. Finally, after no less than eleven singles for labels such as Bass Culture and Eklo as well as us, the time has come for Oleg to embrace the album format and take us on a journey that stretches beyond the immediacy of a dancefloor 12" and captures perfectly where he is at right now. As the preceding single C.A.V.O.K has revealed, there is a techno spirit roaming the circuitry of Oleg's studio, tussling with the delay and reverb gates, firing off focused, intricate rhythms and unafraid of whipping up a mean-tempered kick or two. Across Random Is A Pattern you can hear such energy surging out of tracks like "Beyond" and "Anatomy Of A Shipwreck", with the latter having an especially tough rhythm section. However, these cuts have just as much brain as they do brawn, and in between the driving drums sit haunting pads, ethereal dub textures and curious string harmonies. This is not an album of functional club tracks though, far from it. Recognising the value of the long player as a vessel for exploration, Oleg turns his hand to some truly unexpected patterns and tones. "A Quiet Storm" comes from the school of classic ambient electronica and leftfield broken beat, while "Holy You" makes for one of the most startling moments on the album with a powerfully resonant vocal sample over plaintive piano and a fractured rhythm. While some may be surprised to hear the styles that Oleg has turned his hand to, the eleven tracks are undeniably his. In his choice of mysterious chords and moving key structures, he continues along the smooth creative arc he has been carrying us on since he first emerged. When he can demonstrate such a gift for diverse tempos and moods and make them all sit together comfortably as his own, Random Is A Pattern marks a perfect culmination of what has come before, not to mention being an exciting precursor to what will come after.

“C.A.V.O.K.” calls out our beloved Oleg Poliakov on his first release for us for 2013. It's a good sign, that the skies are clear and we can carry forth on our musical mission unhindered by the weather. With an album looming on the horizon from our in-house weatherman, this EP sets us on a course across open plains towards that landmark, propelled by an infectious energy that marks a progression even for a producer as accomplished as Oleg. The title track wastes no time in kicking into action on a hook of a groove that slams like techno while it soars like house. The rhythmic elements whip up a driving frenzy of snapping hi hats, rattling congas and off-beat snare funks, but these urgent intonations are off-set by the lilting bed of pads, subtle bass throbs, and occasional flocks of keys that come fluttering by. This canny mixture of emotions gives the impression of flying over a vast open space, the landscape underneath rushing by whilst illuminated by the overpowering gaze of the sun. Maintaining the rush of the A side, on “Subterranean Rivers” Oleg sets sail on a funky, uptempo thrust if kick and hat, while the synths come into earshot in dreamlike waves, loaded with mystery that will never be fully revealed. Although the groove may pack more swing and shuffle compared to “C.A.V.O.K.”, the effect is much the same, commanding a meditative state of introspection like the best, most captivating techno should.
If this is a sign of things to come, let the journey towards Oleg's album continue unabated and let no shred of weather stand in our way.

At Circus Company we are proud of all the performers we have nurtured over the years, from the rapid success stories to the slow-burning talents. Each one has displayed their own unique studio acrobatics and musical magic from their first appearance in our big top, but even more rewarding is the chance to watch them blossom from performance to performance.
If there is one artist in our family that displays this concept the best, it is the quiet Russian, Oleg Poliakov. Escaping his humble beginnings in the bitter wastes of Siberia, his evolution in the European dance music scene has seen him springboard deftly from smooth, Detroit-indebted deep cuts to raw and raunchy peak-time floor fillers with the confidence of a producer who can match the mood for any time of the night.
With many great EPs for ourselves as well as such well-respected establishments as Bass Culture and Eklo, Oleg is now a mature individual called upon for his expertise and wisdom in all aspects of 4/4 music, from the engineering to the management, the DJing to the promotion. First and foremost though, he is an artist in constant development, as the 'Fabuleuse Nébuleuse' EP perfectly demonstrates.
Across three tracks of crisp deep house, Oleg crafts shimmering synths, icy tones and glacial percussion, as if building the tracks from the very land he calls home. While the surface atmosphere is cool and calm, underneath the snow tempestuous bass and fiery kicks growl and groan, cultivating that essential dancefloor energy whilst the higher frequencies soothe the mind.
Within these dreamlike moods Oleg is pointing the way to the further development of his expression, inhabiting a space where the heat of the night meets the frosty glare of the morning, and capturing that ambiguous feeling that comes from too many hours in the grip of the soundsystem.

Having released leftfield dance tracks as Skat on labels like Karat or Sthlmaudio, his records on Circus Company established Oleg Poliakov as an internationally renowned House producer. Continuing this string of releases, the "Comet EP" introduces another view on his musical approach. With "Stellar", Oleg tightens his grooves to a maximum. Creating an irresistible energy, the beats create an ideal stage for a reverent fanfare and a sexy voice only admitting: "Shit baby, you got me mesmerized." With a contemporary and personal musical language, he matches the sublimity and dignity of the first House tracks of the mid-eighties. The title track "Comet" is conveyed by a deep bassline that puts one into a deep trance. But Oleg doesn´t let the crowd drift away: The whirl of a snare drum and the anthem-like saxophone hold the dancers firmly on the dance floor. "Exoplanet" is one of these very special tracks that defy all stylistic boundaries. The furious beats astonish even longtime Broken Beats aficionados. The frenzy of the grooves is absorbed by the grace of detached Detroit sounds. Grown up in Rouen, France, Oleg Poliakov looks back on a lifelong exploration of electronic music and sounds. Having worked at radio stations, he developed a sensibility for unusual, unique tones. His sonic library disclaims the stereotypical House sounds which one has listened to much too often. Developing a sonic language of his own, Oleg´s music is seductively beautiful and deeply mesmerizing. Another thing that makes his musical experience special is his former occupation as a HipHop producer. Having worked as a beat maker for a couple of France rap groups, he investigated the languages of rhythm profoundly. On the "Comet EP", all these influences are not directly obvious to the listener, yet they enabled Oleg Poliakov to create such singular House tracks.

After his successfull Midnight Vultures EP last summer Oleg Poliakov is now hiting the winter with this new EP of what he called datcha music. For his new output on Circus Company the mysterious man delivers a beautifull deep house killer plus a bonus high class remix from the one and only Portable (aka Bodycode aka Alan Abrahams). Rainy Dayz (original mix) open up the A side with a sexy vocal loops which leads to a strong kind of old fashion house vibe built on a quite solid groove. Welcome to the good NYC house music from Oursk. This version is followed up by a superb deep house remix from mister Portable. On the other side comes House Of The Sun. That's the dancefloor killer of the record. A bit of détroit flavor, a bit of spoken word, strong atmospher. Pay attention to that one. Try it on the dancefloor on the right time and see what happen.
