Brunn wrote and produced all tracks between 2017 and 2018; In contrast to most releases that were limited to one or two synthesisers, this time a whole array of instruments was used: tELHARMONIC, Music Thing Modular Chord Organ, Doepfer A-111-3V Precision VCO, 4ms STS, Yamaha DX7, Clavia Nord Modular G1 & G2. The long-player comes after a collaborative album with Dave Wheels out on Sushitech early this year, and will be followed by one together with Move D, via Smallville in 2020. More

Back in 2012, Benjamin Brunn played a heartbreaking ambient liveset at the almighty Golden Pudel Club, Hamburg. His Set was recorded and released as a CD on Pudel Produkte. As it was the perfect soundtrack for the lazy days at Smallville Recordstore, we all felt the urge to release this on Vinyl- and during a blurry Smallville night at Pudel, we decided to do it. Benjamin cut out two parts of 20 minutes each and here it is as a limited Recordstore Day 2015 Item.

For more than a year, Third Ear and Benjamin have been selecting tracks for this ep and for an album to follow later in the year. The wait was largely due to the track No Kicks, which initially used a Chuck D acapella, titled No. When Third Ear couldn’t get clearance for the acapella, we suggested to Benjamin that we try and think of another poet/rapper who could produce an original lyric inspired by Chuck D’s flow. After some thought we suggested Diamondancer, who was inspired to write the lyric she performs here. Stay Hungry Stay Foolish and Acidic Sun are delicious and dreamy, with a fat pulsing groove. Hello Ammmerika is more urgent, pushing the groove constantly.

This EP is 6 unreleased tracks in the Thomas Brinkmann celebrated Max Ernst series of 12", all with female names, released with names ordered alphabetically. Starting with. 1. Anna Beate, the series ran for 12 releases over the 2 years from 1998 to 2000. 2. Clara Doris 3. Erika Frauke 4. Gisela Heidi 5. Inge Jutta 6. Karin Lotte 7. Monika Nikola 8. Olga Petra 9. Susie Trixi 10. Ulla Vera 11. Wanda Xenia 12. Yvette Zara, followed. There was never an ep with Q and R. Number 9 is Susie and Trixie. The tapes were lost. But have come to light nearly 25 years later. So now, here is Q/R; Quila 1-3 and Romy 1-3. What we have here are the original tracks as intended for release, with some minor editing and rearranging for release now. The original series was very successful. The first 3 12", released at the same time were a sensation on release. Suddenly, Thomas Brinkmann was the name to check. Today, these Quila/Romy tracks may well have the same impact as the other tracks in the series had when they were released. There is still nothing that sounds like this music. It seems to be an example of a perfect melding of soul and machine. 25 five years later... a annniversary of sorts, offered up by the machines. More

Mike Agent X Clark returns to Third Ear with four new tracks. His first release for the label in six years, after the River People Edits. The quality and variety which is typical of many Detroit releases is very evident here. Is it house? Is it techno? Is it disco? These genre-defining labels don't really come into the minds of many Detroit producers when making tracks, the music they create often seamlessly blends many genres. What is recognisably Detroit is the weight and the swing of these releases; they do not mess around, and Mike Clark is a master of this. More

Thomas Brinkmann creates a new moniker for his latest project to push technical limitations and challenge perceptions; classic Brinkmann agendas. Mele is Italian for Apples, and with Mele Boy, Thomas Brinkmann uses Apple Loops and Apple Logic Pro as the foundation of this music, invoking what he terms Apple Incest, apropos the controversy surrounding Serge Gainsbourg and the song Lemon Incest. What he has produced here for the Seduction ep is simply brilliant music regardless of the machines used or the sounds he works with, reinforcing the axiom that it's the artist not the tools that establishes the greatness of the work.. Those who are prejudiced against such ubiquitous tools may not be swayed. But Brinkmann is not attempting to change opinions, instead he is asking us to challenge our perceptions and the fact that we have prejudices at all... through some brilliant music for the body and the soul. More

Sinethemba Mahlangu is from Zola, Soweto, South Africa. Third Ear received some demos from him in 2019 and since then have mentored him and encouraged his talent. The Unorthodox Flow EP is his first release. We are proud and excited to now share his music with the world. The EP shows a prodigious talent creating a original form of music. Thomas Brinkmann is one of the great producers of Techno music and modern dance music. He initially gained notoriety in the experimental electronic music and Techno community for his full-length 'variations' of material by Wolfgang Voigt under his Mike Ink moniker, and Richie Hawtin. The variations were made by playback of the original artist records on a turntable of Brinkmann's design, which has two tone arms with separate outputs for left and right channels. The turntables were then pitched down from 33rpm to 27rpm and the results recorded and mixed. Both Voigt and Hawtin were sufficiently impressed they released the results on their own labels. Since then Thomas Brinkmann has produced some all-time classic dance tracks, many of which are collected here in what is a personal selection by Thomas Brinkmann himself. There are unreleased tracks, different versions, and tracks that have never been released on vinyl. A full colour 20-page book with track notes by Thomas Brinkmann and photos from his personal collection is included. Limited edition box. Highly Recommended! More

Isolation Diaries is Argentinian producer Alejandro Mosso's 2nd album. It comes more than ten years after his debut, Hiperborea in 2005. He says "I think the album is warm, emotive and nostalgic but not dark nor sad. It is percussive and melodic but not laid back and Balearic. It is tribal and organic but still very precise", as only electronic music can be. The grooves are strong and infectious and the sounds are rich and satisfying, resulting in music that sounds very organic and unpremeditated. The album is accompanied by a Burnt Freidman remix of the track Isolation Diaries, and a Ricardo Villalobos remix of Deardrum.

New talent from Detroit. HazMat's Infinite Silence ep is as deep as they come, and is the first release in a new series of Detroit artist releases from Third Ear. Following on from Third Ear's landmark Detroit Beatdown series, the New Detroit Deep series of releases is just that. HazMat has played keyboards for artists such as Bilal and Mary J Blige, as well as Detroit legends Kenny Dixon Jr, Amp Fiddler and Delano Smith. Along the way, he started to make his own beats and his own tracks and is now ready to take things to the next level. He also plays keys with Motown legacy artists' touring bands, such as The The Four Tops, The Detroit Spinners, The Gap Band. It's not all about the beats and the synths, though. HazMat's work using the Talkbox is right up there.
