It is a huge pleasure for Etruria Beat to welcome to the family, for the first time on an Italian label, Martin Swanstein, better known as Martinez. The Swedish/Danish is best known for his release on labels such as Moon Harbour, Cadenza, Lomidhigh, Love Letters from Oslo and La Pena. Martinez's first release, that kick started his carrier in 2000, was his "Laidback Grooves EP" on the notorious Chicago based Deep-House label Guidance Recordings. Since that time he's been a regular on the worldwide Deep/Tech-House scene. On the A-side we start out with the title track "Lonely Crowd". This track has the signature Martinez, bass driven, hypnotic and percussive house sound, opening with tight percussion over a distinct rolling beat that is soon joined by a heavy 808 kick drum. The groove filters into a more open house beat before a heavy bassline drops in. While the track keeps groovin' horns and metallic crowd noise rise before the groove crashes back in. "Venomous Advantage" is a more stripped down house affair with a strong connection to the old Chicago tracks of Gemini and Green Velvet. A deep round kick drum and metallic drum's and hi- hat's kick things off. Some chopped up voices drop throughout the track and slowly, but steady, deep chords filter into the groove. After the main break a acidic second bassline is introduced. An excellent hypnotic floor builder with lots of hidden treats. On the flip we have "Tenganan". Named after a spiritual city in Bali, Indonesia, where the Aga people lived in their own society for many years, completely cut off from the rest of the world. Martinez was lucky enough to visit the city on one of his recent Asian trips and was able to record the atmospheric sounds of this magical place. These samples lay the back ground to the entire track and are built over slamming percussive drums, underpinned by a driving bassline. The track leads into a peak time break and introduces another layer of voices and sounds, while some well placed snare drums lead it to mayhem. "Prism", is a deep dubby Techno track. Bass headlines the track, blended with deep and groovy percussion. A bubbly trippy sound filters thru the drums taking the lead and becoming the hook line. A perfect track for the after hour session!

Martinez returns to Concealed Sounds and delivers a wicked two track 12" of that deep hypnotising sound that we know him for of late. This record kicks off with "The Path" a 10 min journey though sub bass, glitchy rhythms and haunting high pitched sounds. A perfect tune for that late hours on the dance floor! On the B side we find "Wigflipped" a twisted little number of minimalistic funk. Cut up voices, bleeps, broken rhythms and a light but powerful kick drum make up the foundation of this track. The kick drums SWITCHES constantly between 4/4 and breakbeat, making the main groove ever DEVELOPING. A bit into this 14 min piece some dark rhodes chords are taking over leading it forward. With its swirling and hypnotising feeling through out, its a perfect tune for the after hour. Concealed Sounds return with a new 12" for 2014. This time around we have invited our friends from mysteries SYLPHE label to remix the title track by Martinez, and they delivered a monster! On the A side we find: "Consolidation (Sylphe Lydløs Dub)", were we are taken a true journey thru sound and rhythms for about 13 minutes. The remix kicks off in a kind of tracky way, with a strong focus on the irresistible groove laid down by Holdie Gawn & Micawber. After the first small breaks and manipulations to the groove, we are introduced to some very trippy modular sound design. These sounds takes the lead of the remix and forms into small melodies in a very organic way. While you can still sense the ingredient from the original track, Sylphe takes a slightly different directions and offers a good opposite to the original with their own special twist. The original version of "Consolidations" is presented on the b side of this 12". Its a dirty groove ridden track that goes on for well over 10 minutes, developing from a broken groove into a more danceable Techno pieces, with its shattering metallic sounds, bubbly baselines, deep layers of sub rhythms and lush pad chords to give it some more atmosphere. Two very different version of modern instalment in Techno music. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do… and as always there is a special hidden track on this 12".

Concealed Sounds is a brand new label from the Copenhagen based producer and DJ: Martinez. The label is set up as a platform for the more deeper shade and experimental sound of Techno and House Music. It will feature releases by Martinez himself, but also showcase some new talents as well as well known colleagues from the scene. And as the label name suggests each release will include a hidden sound, beat, groove or ambient piece. The first release comes courtesy of Martinez, and its called: Hollow EP. It starts off with a 14 minute piece of modern modular based Techno. Deep hypnotic rhythms lay down the foundation while high pitched noisy metallic sounds build over the hollow groove, before the baseline kicks in to lift everything to another level. The piece finally breaks down completely, to an almost "horror-film-soundtrack" like ambience before the groovy rhythms find their way back to bring the track to life again.

Danish producer Martinez rarely fails to surprise club music lovers with his versatile views on Techno and House. His very special enthusiasm enables him to seize new musical territory with every release. With his debut record on Cadenza, his house sound develops another depth, a more general view of the ever evolving tension between life and music. The Mzuzu EP is all about bass. The bass is all around, the bass gushes into every corner of the club, it pervades concrete and iron. While the low frequencies deal ruthlessly with architecture, they are kind to us humans. The basslines put the dancers in a conforting state of hypnosis which might be an unconscious reminder of the long gone time when one still rested in one´s mother´s womb. It arouses the memory of a state when one is completely merged with the surroundings. Martinez reorganises the structure of house music: The lashing grooves cease to be the center of the tracks. Martinez moves the heartbeat of the music from the beats to the bass. Its firmness releases the other elements of the tracks, creating a free-spirited feeling. Freed from their regular task the grooves are enabled to be rough and open. Instead of trying to control the crowd, they ravish us with their liberating energy. The tracks rarely need anything else. The icing on the cake consists in tiny vocal samples. Creating an irritating athmosphere, they put us in a state of constant curiosity. Disolving completely into the flow of the tracks, the human voices become pure sound. "Mzuzu Chant" and "Adagio" are for the beautiful moments when the dancing crowd detaches itself from time and space. Martinez´ compositions manage to unleash a deep joy that only Tibetean monks might feel after weeks of medition.

Audiomatique welcomes Martinez!Things have recently gone rather good for Martin Swanstein aka Martinez who moved from his Swedish hometown to Copenhagen a couple of years ago. His „Out Of Orbit“ label goes from strength to strength, his releases on Deeplay, Dessous and Out Of Orbit received excellent feedback and his DJ profile is increasing rapidly.„Shadowboxing“ is Martinez‘ latest strike. The title track is a twisted stepper on the edge between minimal Techno and House. Straight forward beats with a punching bassdrum push the track forward through various twists and turns, while some vocal samples and crispy sounds add an eery atmosphere to the track. After remarkable EPs on Audiomatique and Poker Flat shootingstar and co-Copenhagener Anders Trentemøller adds another outstanding remix on the b-side. Trentemøller even lowers the bassdrum for a few degrees and picks up on the leading synth line of the original track and gives it the magic „Trentemøller“ twist, before he lets the track explode in the middle of the dancefloor with an overwound synthie thunder storm. Massive. „Sapphire Moon“ on B2 is a nice, deeper, typical Martinez track, with a brut drumsound and dreamy melodies.

Farrago takes a more stripped down approach with his version. He builds on the dreamy pad, making it serve as a warm blanket over his signature tight percussion.
Contradicting Mirth, the second original slowly starts to drag you into a feeling of hysteria, hence the name. Taking their signature kick as the foundation, Hush & Sleep use a haunting melody that lingers on in the back and sets an eerie mood.
Marco Effe's remix is a deep stunning techno groover. Taking the main melody but twisting it into his own wonderful creation and sending you off on a journey into time and space.

Now seven years deep into the label's innovative techno trip, Etruria has made nurturing exciting new Italian talent one of its key signatures. Bastinov, Dast, Reform, Kaiser, Diego Amura and Toms Due are just some of the progressive creators Etruria have supported over the last two years alone. But for this release it's down to the label bossman himself... And he's made sure it's a deeply Etruscan affair.
Released in the wake of his mass-scene-supported 'Metamorphosis' EP and building on a body of work that boasts tastemaker labels such as Soma, Drumcode and Planet Rhythm, Luca lays down two slabs of absolute dynamite that not only bang, but also tie his sound, vision and inspiration back to his deepest roots with rich mythology…
'Voltumna' pays homage to the supreme god of Etruscan people. Not just in name and honour, but also in its powerful dynamic and touching balance of shades thanks to its atmospheric, rhythmic chord. 'Aplu' continues this spiritual theme with a dedication to another Entruscan divinity. An offering to the god of thunder and lightning, once again it lives up to its name with a barbed rolling dynamic that suddenly cracks open into a cosmos of light and emotion before hurling you back into the dark drum drama. Thunderous isn't the half of it.
It comes complete with two exceptional remixes of 'Voltumna' by Slam and Truncate. Soma bosses Slam add their signature Glaswegian grit with distorted textures that loop in a hypnotic frenzy while Truncate strips the groove back to a jacking dynamic that becomes progressively bouncier with raw machine funk insistency. Across the originals and remixes there's not a corner in techno that isn't exceptionally explored here; this is by far one of the biggest and most heartfelt releases Luca has given the world to date. Do not sleep on this one.
