Bastinov, Dast, Reform, Kaiser, Diego Amura and Toms Due are just some of the progressive creators Etruria have supported over the last two years alone. But for this release it's down to the label bossman himself... And he's made sure it's a deeply Etruscan affair.
Released in the wake of his mass-scene-supported 'Metamorphosis' EP and building on a body of work that boasts tastemaker labels such as Soma, Drumcode and Planet Rhythm, Luca lays down two slabs of absolute dynamite that not only bang, but also tie his sound, vision and inspiration back to his deepest roots with rich mythology…
'Voltumna' pays homage to the supreme god of Etruscan people. Not just in name and honour, but also in its powerful dynamic and touching balance of shades thanks to its atmospheric, rhythmic chord. 'Aplu' continues this spiritual theme with a dedication to another Entruscan divinity. An offering to the god of thunder and lightning, once again it lives up to its name with a barbed rolling dynamic that suddenly cracks open into a cosmos of light and emotion before hurling you back into the dark drum drama. Thunderous isn't the half of it.
It comes complete with two exceptional remixes of 'Voltumna' by Slam and Truncate. Soma bosses Slam add their signature Glaswegian grit with distorted textures that loop in a hypnotic frenzy while Truncate strips the groove back to a jacking dynamic that becomes progressively bouncier with raw machine funk insistency. Across the originals and remixes there's not a corner in techno that isn't exceptionally explored here; this is by far one of the biggest and most heartfelt releases Luca has given the world to date. Do not sleep on this one.

Opening via the slow-blooming builds and atmospheric and waves of ‘Black Mirror’, before diving into the heady and menacing tones of ‘Mutant Circle’, the ten-track project quickly showcases a wide-reaching range of influences and nuances central to Agnelli’s development as an artist over his career. Productions such as ‘Balance’ and ‘Oxigen’ contrast with one another whilst bringing space to proceedings, guided by breaks-influenced percussion, minimal arrangements and warping leads, whilst the driving ‘Resistance’ harnesses classic techno tendencies to provide an energetic and lively, snaking journey through rich soundscapes.
Title cut ‘Source Drops’ brings that trademark Luca Agnelli energy to the heart of the project, merging scintillating melodies, acid-tinged stabs and icy hats to unveil a high-octane ride into the peak-time, whilst ‘Raw Surface’ keeps the tempo high with sweeping leads, oscillating basslines and resonant lasers. Berlin based DJ/producer Alignment returns to Etruria Beat this May to deliver ‘Interference’, accompanied
by two commanding and powerful remixes from Luca Agnelli and Madrid’s Regal.
With releases to date on the likes of Involve Records, Konstruktiv and Etruria Beat, with his last release on the Italian label coming in the form of his ‘Gravity’ EP in 2016, Berlin’s Alignment ranks amongst the shortlist of names to keep an eye on when it comes to emerging producers within the techno sphere. For his return to Etruria, the Italian steps up to reveal two high-octane cuts whilst Etruria founder Luca Agnelli and Involve boss turn in impressive interpretations of the lead track.
Opening the EP, title cut ‘Interference’ combines 90’s acid sounds with trance-tinged synths to reveal a production primed for the dancefloor, before handing over control to Luca Agnelli who introduces hypnotic and suspenseful builds and breaks to proceedings, whilst switching up the track’s lead lines to create a warping journey. "Candidasa" and "Wespennest" are the result of DJ Kozes inspiring stay in a secluded Benedictine monastery on the enchanting island of Sulawesi. He composed all of the music of "Candidasa" while lying on his stomach, in an act of deepest devotion and self-reflection. DJ Koze unveils a spiritual and surprising journey into rapturous spheres with Wespennest EP. The visionary artist and master of electronic sound, presents his first own release after 2018's global club hit "Pick Up".
"Candidasa" and "Wespennest" are the result of DJ Kozes inspiring stay in a secluded Benedictine monastery on the enchanting island of Sulawesi. Amidst this idyllic setting, he found the perfect environment to unleash his musical vision. He composed all of the music of "Candidasa" while lying on his stomach, in an act of deepest devotion and self-reflection. In doing so, he fed exclusively on so-called heroin kebabs to immerse himself in a trance-like state of creative flow. The result is a soundscape of unimagined depth and beauty that enchants the senses and transports listeners to another dimension by massively increasing the frequency of flicker fusion.
On "Wespennest” the wonderful Sophia Kennedy takes the stage and breathes a new dimension into the music with her impactful lyrics and vocals. With generous dedication, Sophia has provided exclusive excerpts of her yet unreleased songs, giving this track a radiant psychedelic power. The combination of DJ Kozes musical genius and Sophia Kennedy's glorious vocals creates a club track full of wonderment, opening up a mystical rapturous world for listeners. Masters At Work dig into the archives and find GEMS. Having their 2 Inchmaster tapes (over 750 tapes) stored for over 25 years, Kenny and Louie pulled the tapes out and had them transferred to digital files. In their findings on each 2 inch there were 2-3 tracks on each tape never heard before. They’ve taken those tracks and mixed them to perfection, but leaving the rawness of the original feel and recordings made over 25 - 30 years ago. These are gold nugget findings for MAW and today they have the new MAWLOST TAPES series, released on Maw Records, which will give you a taste ofthose early findings. MAW Apes Groove, Lost I’m Ready, Virus Ruff Mutes, & KenLou Thump are the first releases on this double pack 12” release. No need to describe them, just pop them on your turntable and thump it loud!

Relentless techno powerhouses Octave One stride in 2022 with a brand new release that re-affirms their status across two essential tracks. 2021 was another busy year for the Burden Brothers, who re-introduced the world to their Never On Sunday alias. The project first started in the 90s as an outlet for deeper, more introspective sounds and was fittingly brought back last year to great acclaim. The Detroit duo’s Locus of Control series also hit volume number three and the iconic Octave One live show continued to light up clubs everywhere from Barcelona, Paris and Geneva to LA and New York. Despite that, they still had time to cook up more of their famously soulful techno in the studio, the first two tracks of which are presented here.Opener ‘The Blue Drift’ surges ahead on waves of rattling metallic synths. Well swung claps bring that irresistible sense of groove, while twisted melodies add raw dynamics. Add in the heavy underlying bass and you have a classic Octave One track that is both physical yet emotional. On the flip side is ‘It-Just-Is’ a powerful statement of intent. It’s a stripped back track where house and techno meet - there is a seductive slide to the drums and potency in the turbulent synths which bring the energy. The melody is melancholic and as the emotive pads ring out they lodge deep in your brain to make for another standout cut. This vital new release proves Octave One remains right at the forefront of underground music more than 30 years after they started out.
