The Cheapers are Berlin DJs Ruede Hagelstein and Franzen Texas. Both are resident DJs at Watergate Club, and call Upon You Records their home label. Our friends’ contribution to the Bar25 discography has been cooking for a long time, and now, finally, is ready to meet the light of the musical world. The title track, “Too Late”, is a cooperation with Berlin DJane and singer Meggy, who has already seen success this year with Re.You & Rampa. The Original is a soulful deep house track that’s been freshened up with a tech-housy remix by Smash TV. Vinyl Only, the Cheapers have also added a particularly special track which features some dark sampling that the two artists refer to as gothic house

For some time now the Bar25 label has wanted to put out a release with all of our Swiss musician friends – the many folks who came to the Swiss Weekends at the Bar and generally made a habit of visiting us in Berlin. The Bar always had a deep Swiss connection, manifested not least in the legendary Swiss Cabin, home away from home to larger groups of visiting friends and Monday evening after-hour hotspot. “Alpenglühen – Feines aus der Schweiz” (Alp Glow – Swiss Bliss) is a swanky double vinyl of high-quality production art made in Switzerland. On vinyl 1, Animal Trainer from Hive Audio share a side with Andri, the Zurich native. Techno gladiator Wandler and live artist Canson play the other side, while vinyl 2 lets two matadors from the new Zurich club Frieda’s Büxe – Don Ramon and San Marco – steer for a while. And the two music geniuses from Galoppierende Zuversicht are also here, fittingly, using sounds recorded live at Frieda’s Büxe for their track. The sampler concludes with the exceptionally talented Mastra, who contributed a special song to this Swiss musical collage. The digital release also comes with a bonus live track by sublime stage band Rizzoknor.
Even the cover was designed in Switzerland, during a Bar25 night at the legendary Cabaret in Zurich. We’re all excited about this release since it’s a special one for the 25 label. Marked both by good old times and new horizons, this record is a musical compilation representing the very special kind of artist that will always be welcome in wild Berlin!

Coinciding with the cinema premier of "Bar25 - Tage ausserhalb der Zeit" (Bar25 - Days Out of Time), the Bar25 label is releasing the official soundtrack. Together with its closest musician friends, the label began work over a year ago on exclusive tracks that would be included in the final cut.
The result is a remarkable compilation of works from a number of music genres - a unique collection of musical contributions by steadfast companions of the exceptional place that was Bar25. The sampler is divided into two worlds - the dancefloor and the Zirkus - each representative of the distinct atmosphere these two core places emanated during the Bar25's existence. The dancefloor was the club's central point - this is where time seemed to melt into itself and more than a few DJs played the longest sets of their lives. The Zirkus was its counterpart - a place for everybody who wanted to retreat into a dream world. It hosted bands, cabaret, theater and cinema, and on special occasions, legendary confetti battles. Faithful to this subdivision, the compilation "Bar25 - Tage ausserhalb der Zeit" comprises two CDs that reflect the moods found there. CD1 "Dancefloor" contains 11 club tracks on a spectrum ranging from exclusive, unreleased songs to the dance hymns of the Bar25's last season. CD2 "Zirkus" is a dazzling roundup of special songs, some by artists who usually make very different music. Taking turns in musical styles, 15 songs give an auditory sampling of what made the Bar25 Zirkus's artistic mix. Like the film, this compilation a tiny testament for eternity to the late, great Bar25 - something definitely worth having on the shelf for reliving the feelings experienced there when it existed from time to time.
Supporting the release's distribution is noted techno label Word and Sound. Together with the producer Arden Film, everybody is joining forces to promote the Bar25 - Tage ausserhalb der Zeit project. The whole team has been working on the realization of this ultimate farewell gift to itself and its friends, and now it's ready.

Long-winded essays on the musical qualities of Wareika are unnecessary. The trio has been playing its way in to the hearts of electronic listeners and party-goers since their first release in 2008 – especially with their brilliant live performances. Wareika’s solid output has been proven over and over with steady releases on noted labels like liebe*detail, Conaisseur or Perlon. Falling categorically somewhere in between house, jazz and dub, Wareika have remained individualists and their music is a hot topic for DJs, clubbers and festival visitors alike. Now, at the end of the 2011 season, we’re proud to release “Amber Vision” – a Wareika record that couldn’t fit better into the Bar25 musical family. The track “Red Sun” plays with the clownish atmosphere particular to special times enjoyed in our own four walls. Brass, piano, and a crazy male chorus suddenly give way to harmonies from the far east – as always, one of the miniature all-you-can-eat musical buffets provided by Wareika. By contrast, “Forest” is a hypnotic bassline number dominated by wonderfully weird vocals. A runway made for take-off… …directly into the arms of Mathias Kaden, our good friend and travel companion from Vakant. This lush ending to the release offers something for the club DJ. Taking elements from both tracks, Mathias tinkered up a phenomenal, rolling house ride, inspiring us to thank him in the name of the sweaty club crowd before it even hits the dance floor.

This album builds more than just one bridge between the best worlds of frivolousness and dependability – horizontally, vertically, all the directions in between, and in time. No matter what the current when you cross, the beginning and the end dissolve into an everlasting flow in true 25 character. The journey is fueled by its own limitlessness, all the while delivering crucial reference points for a purposeful riptide ride. The experienced hedonist lets herself be driven through her beloved quarter-note spheres, relishing the moments when, in certain beats, twinkling details lead her towards a different route – one familiar but long forgotten. She strings this pearl on her chain of rhythm-driven moods, calling upon it at the right times to amplify her individual push. The allure of the impact’s unfolding redeems each secret whispered by the spirit of the sound. The adventurous disciple of a sensually charged culture is pushed to peer beyond the limits of his exhilarated expectations. He cannot resist reaching for the starlit beats, wishing to adorn himself with their shine. Born anew, a master, he is forever received as a welcome guest (+1) in each of the best of all worlds – this is how the multiplicity of all their denizens takes its outrageous and dazzling form. Together they are deeply moved by the messages that the bass massages into their collective body. The anxious ones dive into the pheromone-soaked vapors of the new terrain, whose very strangeness makes it so attractive. They are kindly incorporated into the beat’s commanding dimension by fellow travelers already in the know. Primed in such a manner, they too can be led across the bridges with playful ease, bridges from which they first expected only precarious footing. In the freefall of boundless fervors, any worry that something might one day end is drowned out, since the shock will be softly absorbed by the warmth of the vibe in the pool of electric delight. This congregation, whose sleeplessness and bliss are one and the same, celebrates every transition as a promise of salvation. This is the ingredient that lends the flow its joyfully received immortality. For them, Matt John’s “Bridge” is a welcome bond between the memories of his old residence – the home of intoxication – and its future, which has propagated itself in the label. Connected by bridge, the worlds of frivolity and dependability promise excess, delirium, security, euphoria, beauty, progression, hope, song, softness, safety, desire, sentimentality, form, function, forcefulness, starry nights, love, searching, arrival, farewell, summer vacation, crispy-crunchy, creation and exhaustion.
