2
steve rachmad - Active (D'Julz Edit)
Bass Culture welcomes another industry heavyweight to its roster of talent with this new release, which follows hot on the heels of the killer 50th release by Mr. G. This latest release comes from long time friend of Bass Culture owner D’Julz and Dutch techno hero Steve Rachmad. Steve is renowned for his funky take on techno, honing his skills as a DJ and producer over 25 years and establishing himself as a respected and hugely talented artist in the process. The first of two tracks on this new EP is entitled ‘Sabre Song’ - a stomping, illuminating cut straight out of the Rachmad school of Detroit-influenced techno. D’Julz heard Steve play the track at Womb in Tokyo and had to sign it on the spot. ‘Sabre Song’ is a perfect fit for Bass Culture with its groovy bassline, cutting hats and ‘big band’ instrumentation. On the flip D’Julz himself contributes an edit of one of Steve’s nineties classic, a favourite of his and one which both men agreed should be given a release. Pumping out at a speedy tempo, the force is strong with ‘Activa’, transporting us back to the rave era with its catchy melody, and retro physique. Summer vibes all the way with this one.

steve rachmad - Out In The Open
2
steve rachmad - Parallel Shopping
For this next release, Life and Death brings Dutch techno hero Steve Rachmad into the fold for a little fable of consumerism gone sideways. In a shopping mall of singing machines a revolution is brewing. Where instead of you going shopping for them, the machines slowly rise up, collect themselves together and decide to go shopping for you. In Parallel Shopping we can hear the sounds of the machines organizing themselves out of their slumber as they slowly begin their bizarre free market march to gather their forces and prepare to stock up on you. Flipping over to the next side the story continues with Out In The Open (edit). Their plans having been revealed to the masses, the machines have no other option but to launch a full scale attack. Under the cover of night the machines rally their forces as soft synths sing their rhetoric into the night while the crash of metal and booming basses foreshadow the likely winner of this sortie..

anton pieete - B2. The News (Tom Ruijg Remix)
Summer 2014 saw the release of Anton Pieete’s ‘The News’, an eight track selection that further cemented his new musical path. Raw, powerful productions that matched the classic sounds of early Detroit and Chicago, with the future leanings of Anton’s own production tastes and techniques. The News was an instant hit with his peers, drawing a tidal wave compliments and club support. It was some of those same supporters that Rejected have looked to when drawing up their wish list for this exciting remix release. UK sensation Mosca was first on board, having been an early fan of the originals. He chose to take on the deep, mysterious and somewhat spooky ’Next Year’, with the Not So Much boss toughening and twisting the original with reversed sweeps in an elongated beatless opening that leaves us feverishly anticipating the drop of the first kick drum, at four and half minutes. Fellow Dutchman Tom Ruijg goes to work on the title track. Relegating the original's dominant synth chords he strips things back, only to rebuild as a tense, minimal and mysterious techno outing. Anton himself joins forces with Awanto 3, layering their wonderful vocal lick over the original to give it a fresh and addictive new face for the summer.
Detroit’s own, Rolando, also takes on The News. Feeling at home with those home-town synths he pulls them further within his remix, filtering things down whilst pushing his beats and snare to the fore. Still keeping things deep Rolando creates an impressive and essential rework of Anton’s original.

Arriving firmly on time for the approaching summer, Rejected welcomes back Dutch techno music maestro Anton Pieete for another killer double track EP fresh out of Amsterdam. Known for his straight forward contemporary take on techno Pieete once again fuses together experimental synths, high-octane rhythms and rigorous patterns to bring us the next installment “Culture” & “Cotton” Culture & Cotton both focus on solid groove-layered four to the floor percussion. Culture showcases a futuristic twist with a digital pattern lead, electric synth & a warping bassline, whilst Cotton throws up classical elements of house with its airy synth lead & warm bass both bouncing off a solid tech pulse.
