After two years in the making, Aus Music, !K7 and Wordandsound are proud to announce the release of Scottish producer Sei A's third full length, Space in Your Mind. Two singles from the ten track opus-'Ancestors' and 'Space In Your Mind,' complete with DJ Tennis remixes-will come ahead of the full release on February 26th 2016. Sei A is Andy Graham, an ever-evolving producer who has cooked up many different shades of house and techno since emerging in 2008.

From dark and melodic to well swung and bass heavy, he is not one to repeat the same trick twice as two former LPs and more than 15 EPs on labels like Turbo, Life And Death, Kompakt and Aus/Simple have proved before now. As if to cement the point, this full length finds Graham straying from the dance floor to cook up a fulsome album that stands up to introspective home listening.

"The LP came from writing a lot of music in a short space of time," says Graham. "I felt I had grasped a sound and I wanted to expand it further. Musically I was finding that the material had much more space within the sound, with the main structure of it being melodies, therefore giving it quite a rich feel throughout. I was also aiming to expand on writing actual songs that take in verse/chorus, verse/chorus structures." And he has sure accomplished that, because with the help of guest collaborators Will Samson and Daudi Matsiko on four tracks, Space in Your Mind is an absorbing listen with many melodies and vocal lines lingering long in the memory.

In the wake of Bicep's 'Just' EP - AUS Music continue to maintain their momentum and welcome back Sei A. Having releases records on Turbo, Kompakt and Hemlock - the London via Glasgow producer marks his welcome return with 'Gasp' - his first contribution to the label since November 2013.
Sei A is an artist who has astutely diversified his sound with each and every piece of output and whilst his catalogue has strayed left of centre it's consistently remained punctuated with the sort of muscular club material that's given him a steady home at AUS. His latest offering is one that fans of 'Make It Work' and 'Wants' will relish as it melds moody, syncopated grooves with nifty vocal snips and capacious breakdowns.
The title track unfolds behind an arresting loop that - propelled by a dense thud, gathers percussive whacks and a prowling bass pattern. Vocal clips fall in and out before a truncated breakdown snaps back in and catches the listener off guard. 'Never Wander' then builds behind sizzling hi hats and a tape-driven kick. Mournful chord shifts are spread overhead before a sharp electric bass pattern is driven in from underneath.
Suffused with tape-driven texture '4ME2' then unfolds behind a tumbling sequence that's gently bent out of shape. A thick wall of sound then snowballs bringing with it a rasping bass tones and vast, heart-rending chord shifts that seal off yet another addition to a long list of triumphs on AUS.

Following releases from Midland, Dusky, Bicep, Leon Vynehall, Komon, and Deetron, Aus continues its run of releases with Glaswegian, London-based producer Sei A stepping up to the helm once again, following up his well received 'Wants' EP in September.
'Make It Work' is a blend of muscular drums, pitched down vocals and hypnotic synths which pan across the record in on and off rhythms. What follows, 'I'll Take You New Release Information There', is definitely from the same gene pool, with its pounding pulse and stark
vocals, led this time, however, by an equally energetic midrange bass line. Fresh from mixing the latest installment of the hugely respected DJ Kicks series on !k7 Breach adds his own unique twist to the package with an inspired remix of the title track, hollowing out the centre and building it up with patience on his more extended interpretation. 'Hing,' although only available on the digital release, is a hidden treasure; running on a slightly slower tempo, this track winds down the EP perfectly with its slurred and subaqueous sounds.

Turbo Recordings is proud to present the revival of German techno giant Gregor Tresher’s Sniper Mode alias with the Riot Gear LP. We have been promised that this release will usher in a Golden Age of Electro in which we will serve at the right hand of the Lord for a starting annual salary of €43,000. Not bad.

Riot Gear showcases Tresher’s established production genius over 11 cuts of S-tier electro marked by menace, depth, and sharp melodic hooks. Lead single “Blinded by the Dark” is a collaboration with Dave Clarke, the most respected man in electro and perhaps just in general, and features the most punishing drop in recent memory. The album also includes standout vocal contributions from Detroit techno pioneer Jay Denham (“Sanctuary of Vices”), Miami Bass kingpin Exzakt (“Echoes From a Wasted Land”), dance-world enigma Kira (“Phantom Pain”), and Turbo favorite Perel (“Modesty Is a Virtue”). We would argue that this album represents a landmark achievement in the genre, which you have to admit would reflect pretty well on us as a label.

It is not every day that Turbo Recordings embraces the responsibility of husbanding a full-album release, and you should know that it comes as a cost. The additional listening time, track title typing, and intensive download/upload workload have pushed our dedicated staff of 90 to its breaking point. We have a lot going on over here.

When you love a record too damn much, you will soon discover whether you "got what it takes” to make it yours. Such is the case with Turbo label head Tiga, who has played 11Schnull & Newinfluenzer’s 2023 underground hit “Ich und meine Ubahn” in each and every one of his DJ sets since its non-Turbo release. But unbridled track-passion is not always enough, and sometimes one must take a step back and recognize that the music business is also a business. So our in-house Corporate Development team, which has of late been entirely focused* on figuring out how best to monetize Tintin entering the public domain, set to work, successfully licensing the original while also creating the fun and potentially life-saving opportunity to visualize just how amicable the licensing process was.

All of which brings us to the remix pack at hand. The essentially perfect electro programming and vocal performance of the 2023 original leaves virtually no angle for improvement, save for the fact that the 4:20 runtime not enough for the median touring DJ to satisfy their chatbot mistress before they must begin the exacting work of selecting and mixing the next track. As such, we enlisted producers who could interpret the song from different planes of existence, namely Chilean-German wizard Matias Aguayo, French hardstyle prodigy Krarmpf, German aesthetes Extrawelt, Hamburg electro master DJ MELL G, and Asturian highbrow god Architectural. For reference, the planes conjured by these remixes are as follows: blacked out on Ivermectin; finally beat a pay-to-win mindfulness game; voted the Greatest Living Teen Artist by the readers of US Weekly; transformed into an expressionless little muscleman as if by magic; going viral; and curing jet lag in our lifetime. It is not for us to say which remix corresponds to which realm of human experience, but we do know that it is limited to those options.

Finally, please do not invite a chatbot lover into your marriage. Your spouse cannot hope to compete. And know that this advice comes from our best understanding of current world affairs, and does not represent what a repressed British man would calling “taking the pee.” At their very best, jokes are funny, and the fate of the human bedroom is no laughing matter at all.

We called each on these titans to anoint “MZ” into the modern pantheon of club anthems, and you can bet your last eurobond that they delivered. But we also wanted some new blood, so we turned to rising Lithuanian superstar DJ JM. The title track doubles as a massive forest rave bomb AND the No. 1 battle weapon for opening DJs looking to fuck over the headliner, while “Bongo Funeral” reimagines tribal techno as the chief export of a village ruled by emotionally unavailable gremlins. Next, “Snacks at Waco” makes skillful use of a hammering industrial beat to hammer home the importance of loyalty and community, and “Parasocially There for You” deftly soundtracks anxiety dreams about meeting your favorite podcaster. Finally, closer “Nimby Orgy” likely represents the very first sexual aftercare banger. NOTE: we’ve heard bad things about both NIMBYs and YIMBYs, and as such have adopted a militantly neutral position on the matter of who is f-ing and s-ing in our backyard.

Given that Keepsakes is a vinyl-only DJ, we’ve done him the courtesy of making this release available both on vinyl and digitally. While this would have been an incredible opportunity to completely shut him out of playing his own tracks, we decided that this would be unfair to the music itself. Because at the end of the day, Turbo takes its marching orders from Harmony, Melody, Rhythm, and Timbre, and to betray even one of our ethereal masters would be tantamount to kicking our own vision square in the nuts. IOW: ain’t never gonna happen.

It’s always fun to let our audience peer through the party peephole with some hot behind-the-scenes info. For months, Black Light Smoke’s Control EP has supplied several of label head Tiga’s secret DJ weapons. In fact, he’s been sneaking out constantly after 9pm to play it out anywhere they’ll have him. And it’s little wonder to those who wonder why, as the Chicago-born producer’s top-flight mix of EBM, electro and Benadryl-soaked vocals has all the right people dancing.

Leadoff track "New York Is Dead” eulogizes the famous Big Apple Dance Party Scene in a way that will confuse the many who have embraced the city’s thriving “Groove With the Avengers” day rave series in Times Square. The Good Night, Whatever That Is EP imbues the timeless platonic forms of techno with an energy, craft and depth that will feel instantly familiar to anyone who has built a cathedral with their bare hands. And yet the unadulterated power of lead single “Steampunk” and the even-less-adulterated power of “Tubular Funk,” confirm that this release also has one foot squarely planted on the secular dance floor, coursing with the searing bio-fluids that drive and torment all sexual beings. Meanwhile, your deep human need for contrast will be sated by the IDM-ambient euphorics of “Eternity Land” and the highbrow breaks of “Rousing Rhythms”.

Ambien Baby is the collaborative project by D Tiffany and NAP, which serves as a borderless zone for both friends to channel a freewheeling experimentation with whatever sounds they happen to be jiving with in the moment. Simply put, Ambien Baby is two BFF's letting loose with no rules, just pure freak and joy. The nature of this joint exploration is clearly evident throughout their raucous and varied releases, which have ranged from downtempo to electro and deep into techno and trance regions.

Escaping the massive shadow of Norway’s hip-hop scene, ‘Moments of Inertia’ captures a sound that evokes nothing but itself, as though Kristenen were recording sub-rosa dimensional machinery at oblique angles and arranging the best parts with the kind of
narrative grandeur most techno artists would never dare interrogate. It should also be noted that the track “Paradox & Puzzle" shares a name with Tiga’s moderately successful escape room gastropub.

Martinou lands on Turbo for the very first time, as the Swedish producer connects with Tiga’s Montreal-based label following years of mutual admiration. His melancholic sound, dripping in masterfully balanced tones, continues to impact both heady at-home listeners & season club dancers. A pair of albums on Rotterdam’s Nous’Klaer Audio have both been on constant rotation throughout the Turbo community, thus adding to the widespread excitement for Martinou’s debut on the imprint.
The Sheltered Planet is a four-track record at the cross-section of Martinou’s bespoke sound & Turbo’s historic Techno influence. The aptly titled opener - Getting Into It - elevates senses through an exploitative and rising
soundscape, flowing right into the beat-driven house cut - I Told You We’d Make It; crisp drum programming opens way to soaring melodics, with a deeply analog feel to the A2 groover.
On the flip, Martinou effortlessly glides through another movement-laden melody, as Exhilaration turns the dial ever-so-slightly towards the Swede’s take on a peak-time selection - The Offering. Deep underground, the last survivor works feverishly in his isolated laboratory. A lone

Turbo celebrates the 10th anniversary of Gesaffelstein’s seminal work on the
Montreal-based imprint with a long-awaited repress of all three EPs: Variations,
Conspiracy Pt. 1, and Conspiracy Pt. 2.
Every track on 'Variations' is a battle-tested bomb. Gesaffelstein’s sound is clearly
influenced by New Wave and the Gigolo-era electro (2001-2) of fellow Frenchmen
The Hacker and David Carretta, but it sounds like a fresh update rather than
pastiche, revitalized and refined down to a modern and versatile core. These tracks
work in Tiga's festival sets alongside some of the summer's biggest anthems, yet are
equally at home in a more underground setting, e.g. Von Party's 5am warm-up
before Ivan Smagghe at a London warehouse party.
The title track has the most attitude, establishing a palette of dark staccato basslines,
crunching hi-hats, hands-in-the-air cowbells and trippy synth leads. Selected Faces
and Atmosphere are arguably even more straightforward club weapons, their
breakdowns creating just enough 'insanity' without getting annoying, their grooves
dropping back in with a cool, restrained power that will win over hiss-weary DJs.
With remixes upcoming for Turbo and Institubes, a follow-up EP for Turbo in the
works... if you want an idea as to how big Gesaffelstein will get this year, just think of
him as 'Brodinkelstein.'

Gesaffelstein's 'Variations' EP set an all-time record for feedback at Turbo. For a new
artist to attract that kind of attention from such a broad cross-section of DJs is
extremely special and a clear sign that he's tapped into something very, very big. To
the younger generation of clubbers and DJs for whom the funtastic era of 2001-2003
revivalism was a missed experience, Gesaffelstein represents a double-breasted
jacket of nostalgia for everything from the power of Industrial and 80s New Wave to
the Gigolo-glam of early Kittin & the Hacker, Steril, Vitalic, Fixmer, and yes, Tiga.
We have no hesitation in declaring that he has single-handedly updated an entire
genre, sharpened the edges, and notably traded in the camp and pastiche that made
Electroclash a dirty word for a refined and stylish simplicity. The breakdowns are
massive and very French, but never out of order. These are futuristic party bombs
which skillfully draw from our favorite dance music of the last 30 years... and add
more cowbell!
