Dimitri is a legend! From his Playboy Mansion compilations to his own tracks, his always inspiring DJ sets and most of all: his never disappointing edits (Prince: I wanna be your lover!). Let's put it like this: Probably there is not one DJ with taste on this planet that hasn't got his personal Dimitri From Paris favorite track in his bag. Dimitri has been doing consistently good music over the last 20 years. Since he first appeared with his very Parisian album Sacrebleu in 1996. He quickly became a worldwide respected European first league eclectic disco DJs - along with DJ Harvey and Ashley Beedle. He officially remixed hundreds of artists. From Björk and New Order to Michael Jackson. He also produced Los Amigos Invisibles "Super Pop Venezuela" album which grabbed a nomination for a Grammy Award. Some years ago he teamed up with Italian producer, DJ and man of many talents DJ Rocca. Rocca might be known to many for his work as Ajello and Crimea X. He also produced music for cosmic DJ hero Baldelli. Dimitri and Rocca have a magic touch. Together they have been doing 3 EPs for Gomma. This is the fourth EP. New school booty electronic disco. Glamorous as ever. Nasty as always.

This vinyl EP is a collaboration between Paris label CORRESPONDANT and Germany's GOMMA records.
Remixes by Los Angeles' finest psychedelic electronic producer SECRET CIRCUIT (Beats in Space records) and German shooting star LAUER (partner of Gerd Janson at Tuff City Kids).
Why this EP?
Gomma has a long history with the Paris scene. Mathias 'Munk' Modica who runs Gomma (and sublabel Toy Tonics) has been living in France for many years. He worked with many Parisian artists from DJ Chloe (on Munk's first album Aperitivo 2004) to the Ed Banger Crew or Black Strobe. Probably apart of Berlin there is no city in the world that saw more Gomma events than Paris. Seems only a project with Jennifer Cardini missed. So Jennifer invited Mathias last year to send over tracks. Decision was made fast. And so Wurlitzer Wank and The Bösus Bounce have come up on Correspondant.

Barotti is a musician and contemporary multimedia artist based in Berlin. After years of working on urban sound installations, performing arts and experimental music, he is now releasing his debut album. A soundtrack for fantastic futuristic fairytales. Epic and symphonic - with a deep electronic base.
Armed with iconic analog gear of the 1970s and 1980s, a hand-picked group of high level classical string and horn players and the whole imaginary world of his absurd fantasies, Barotti is opening up a new dimension in the vast field between contemporary classical and electronic music.
Rising stands firmly with one foot in the same mud as Woodkid and Sohn, and the other foot dipping into the past 200 years of classical music, resting in a lukewarm cocktail of Funkstörung and James Blake.
The album was recorded in Casablanca and Berlin. Co-written and co-produced with Swedish composer Anders Ehlin and German producer Valentin Sommer.

Biographical details:
Arriving in Berlin in 2007 after completing his music studies in drums at the Siena Jazz Academy, Barotti has pursued a wide variety of activities in the art world. He quickly joined forces with Plastique-Fantastique, producers of inflatable urban architecture. Together they started creating interactive sound sculptures. Their installations have been exhibited at Saatchi Gallery, Clerkenwell Design Week London and Design Week Milan. Their latest work Sound of Light (made for Urbane Künste Ruhr) won the Let's Colour Award. Their work also extends into pop: they have designed a stage machine for Peaches, now touring around the world. Barotti has also worked with Asphalt Piloten, an interdisciplinary group of artists transforming public spaces. Together, they have traveled all over Europe and Russia with various projects and have won the Swiss June Johnson Dance Award as well as the Kultur-&-Kreativpiloten Deutschland Award. In addition, Barotti also played the lead role in Berlin Für Helden, a movie by legendary German underground director Klaus Lemke.

Live
For his live shows, Barotti has invented a new instrument: The Pneumatic Drums. This enables him to combine his percussive skills in an interactive electronic environment, using the inflatable instrument not only as a drum but also as a projection surface for his visuals. The machine resembles a multicolored UFO and immerses the audience in its euphoric psychedelic patterns and rhythms.

The album:
In 2012 Barotti travelled to Morocco with a group of dancers, musicians, visual artists, gathering in an antique house facing the sea of Casablanca. The whole foundation of Rising revolves around the epic sessions in that mystical Arabic house which were later shaped into complete studio productions in Berlin. With Barotti's background in jazz improvisation and the world of the performing arts, it was clear that this album would be a multifaceted collaborative production. Just as in a jazz improvisation - the different energies and skills of Barotti and his two friends have created something special. This is a new universe of sonic landscapes, created using only old pianos, rare synthesizers and analog effects.
The visuals for the cover artwork were drawn by Sandra Tebbe during the Moroccan recording sessions, using the ancient ceramic tiles on the walls of the house in Casablanca as her canvases.

Munk is the project of Gomma label founder Mathias Modica ("Germany's most interesting electronic music label" The NME). Munk is best known for his collaborations with Rebolledo from Pachanga Boys (Surf Smurf), James Murphy LCD Soundsystem (Kick out the chairs), Asia Argento (Live Fast Die Old) and club hits like Down in L.A. and La Musica. He co- produced the albums of Gomma bands WhoMadeWho and Moullinex. There is already a big buzz around Munk right now: The pre-single Southern Moon went on top of the Beatport house charts. DJs like Todd Terje, Shit Robot, Tensnake and Disclosure are playing it. Also Happiness Juice (and its superb video) is all over the blogs right now. Munk's latest remix of Lana Del Rey's West Coast went on No.1 of Hypemachine after it's release in June 2014 and is one of the most blogged remixes of this summer. The new album Chanson 3000 is the 4th Munk album. It was recorded in Berlin - where Mathias and his new vocalists live. As usual Mathias' music doesn't fit in any categories. It's a mixture of 90ies Electronica and House with New Wave, 70ies Jazzfunk, Indie Disco and his love for songwriters like Burt Bacharach, Quincy Jones, Trevor Horn. Mathias is a classically trained musician. His dad (a composer of contemporary classical music) taught him instruments since the age of five. That's why Modica's way of producing is so different: He mixes "real" instruments (he plays piano, synths, bass, saxophone, guitars, drums) and new digital techniques. He also has this special ability to write melancholic melodies and harmonical structures that are unusual to electronic music. Probably that's why so many names have been invented to describe the Munk sound: Outsider House, Digital Soul, Deep Disco - but maybe you can put it the way a German writer did: Munk sounds like you put Metronomy, Disclosure and Nicolas Jarr in a mixer and add some great soul voices. The Album has been mixed and mastered by Rob Rox (Banks) and Mark Ralph (Daniel Avery, Franz Ferdinand).
The singers
Modica was searching for new, special voices and found them in Berlin: 23 year old Lizzie Paige who was raised in Austin/ Texas where she has grown up with listening concerts of new bands at the SXSW festivals before she moved first to New York and then to Berlin.
Mona Lazette was born in Nigeria where Fela Kuti was regularly visiting her dad's house. Later the family moved to London where Mona has been organizing underground partys, doing guestappiriances on records by Solomun, Catz 'n Dogz and Kele before going to Berlin.
The labels:
Mathias runs Gomma and the new house-sublabel Toy Tonics with two friends. Gomma by now is one of Germany's main labels for electronic music. The last Gomma compilation "100% Gomma" has been No.1 at JUNO Downloads for 6 weeks.
Gomma has released the debut records of WhoMadeWho, Moullinex, Black Loops, Daniel Avery, Hotlane and the solo project of Nancy Whang of LCD Soundsystem. Last year's Gomma discovery Esperanza just has been taken over by Berlin's Life & Death label.

Hessismore are a 7 person musican's collective based in New York and Copenhagen around musical mastermind Mikkel Hess. They released their Gomma debut EP last July. Keeping a lot from the original version. The crazy voices, the Punk Funk feel, the moody, new wave atmopshere. But now it's a club bomb. After years as a vocalist and keyboarder in James Murphy's superband LCD Soundsystem, finally Nancy Whang steps out with her own solo project: 4 cover versions of big songs from the 70ies, each of which is to be produced by a big name of today's electronic scene.
The first single is a rework of Dennis Parker's 'Like An Eagle' which gets produced by AudioJack. Ibiza based, Leeds pair AudioJack have released on labels like 2020 Vision, Diynamic, Get Physical and countless other imprints. The basis for the track are spritely house drums run through with warbling, disco-fried synths that shine and glow gloriously. This is a fantastically floating single that will sweep dancefloors up and shoot them thorugh space all spring long. Toy Tonics acts Black Loops and Malik Yells also turn out a bomb remix.
The second track collected on the 12" sees Nancy team up with UK disco don Bonar Bradberry (one half of PBR Streetgang) , no stranger to success thanks to releasing on labels like Futureboogie, Needwant and 2020 Vision. The single 'Working The Midnight Shift' - originally by Donna Summer - gets a futuristic re-versioning that marries classic 80's boogie to fresh modern sounds. The extended version found on the vinyl is quite the trip, elongating the groove and the disco flourishes into something really quite epic. Once again Gomma have come up with a disco bomb that nods to the past at the same time as charging headlong into the future.

What a combination! Pachanga Boys' REBOLLEDO and Gomma Boss MUNK doing a single together! And when two freaks like them meet for music ñ the result has to be a masterpiece of craziness! Surf Smurf is a dirty 60ies Surf Rock song gone electronic. Sounds like a David Lynch soundtrack for a movie he does in 2030. The boys made two versions of the song. While Rebolledo did a 12 minute dub techno orgy that flows around the basic guitar lick ñ Mr. Munk has put in some more energy: he created a dirty rockabilly house track that recalls the early Depth Charge or Weatherhall sound.. bringing back the analougue vibes and kaput drum machine sounds. Also the bonus track You Got It is a bomb. Techno? Yes! But warm & dirty. Pianos meet Acidlines ñ the stuff that DJ Harvey would play. When the guys start to sing "YOU GOT IT, BABYì - you can't remain quiet. This shit is rollin'. This cooperation might sound weird to some, but it comes quite natural: Rebolledo and Munk have a long time Ñhistoryì. Rebolledo has been a Munk fan since the beginning. Dropping Munk & James Murphy's ÑKick Out The Chairsì song and Munk's Aperitivo album on his mexican partys years ago. While Mathias has been djing a lot in Mexico the last years ñ expecially in Rebolledo's club Topaz de Luxe. Musically they have a similar history ñ but showing different shades. It's was time to do a Pachanga Gomma clash.

Mr. Munk is back! Having released nothing since 2 years - now he comes back with Misterio: an ousider house bomb that sounds like the perfect follow-up to his last album's hit La Musica. Misterio starts like a "normal" house tune. Based on fat house drums and a catchy bassline. But after the intro it turns into crazy new wave funk. New York early 80ies style. Fucked up guitars and a guy shouting in Brazilian, Spanish and English languages. Mat Munk (aka Gomma records' co-boss Mathias Modica) recorded this tune last summer in Berlin and Porto Allegre/Brazil. The voice comes from Brazilian DJ Gab Cevallos. The track has been mixed and co - produced by Mark Ralph. (Hot Chip, Jamie Jones). Also the remixes are the bomb! Severino from London's Horse Meat Disco made the perfect summer dancefloor shaker. And PBR Streetgang's Bonar Blackberry's version is perfect for fans of the new UK House vibes. This single is great! Greater! People will scream. Promise!
