Luomo aka Vladislav Delay, Sistol, Uusitalo… under a raft of names finnish artist Sasu Ripatti has in the last years experimented with ambient, broken beat, glitch as well as grooves and house music with soulful vocals, working with Scissor Sisters, Black Dice, Apparat, Craig Armstrong, Massive Attack, Robert Owens and Towa Tei. Luomo is about experimenting with pop music, a big influence for Ripatti, and bringing it to a fusion of house, disco and electronica.
PLUS is the 5th album for Luomo, taking the songwriter abilities of Ripatti to a new level, dwelling deep into first generation Chicago house and the pop sensibilities of 80s London, coupled with his impeccable crossover pop appeal. Never going for a one formula approach, PLUS has a distinct Luomo sound - hypnotic, sexy and delicately insistent, rhythms following a self-movement and never standing still. Conquering the world of electronics with a hi-tech approach, PLUS is still grabbing the listener mostly because of the soul infused into the works. Sometimes cold and brittle, other times warm and ductile, the deeply layered backgrounds make way for outstanding vocal performances which are this time credited to the cryptically named Chicago Boys, a shy boy group of more or less known vocalist. Songs like "Good Stuff" and "Shy" are pure pop-bliss, while "Form In Void" and "Twist" shimmer in glacial electronics and gliding synths, all keeping the focus on the organic vocals to extend the album´s scope and reach far beyond expectations. The less song-focused, synth driven tunes like "Medley Through" and "How You Look" are undoubtedly reflecting the early Luomo sound from Vocal City (2000) and The Present Lover (2003), and combined with his finest songwriting makes am cohesive album which actually can and should be listened to as one whole piece.

Chicago Hip House Veteran Tyree Cooper And UK Newcomer Bobby Starrr Collaboration JACK THE BOX – SIDE A To Be Released By Moodmusic In Fall 2013 DJ Tyree Cooper has been a proactive element of the music industry since the beginning of House music back in 1986. His contributions have resulted in the birth of a genre and numerous top ten chart- and club-hits, such as "Turn Up The Bass", “Hardcore Hip House”, and "Groove You Out Tonight", are credited to him. Now the veteran teamed up with newcomer UK producer and DJ Bobby Starrr as the Berlin based combo JACK THE BOX and their debut album release in October this year is bound to make a lasting impact. "Side A shows the rare craftsmanship Tyree Cooper and Bobby Starrr have to offer. Their different backgrounds emerge as their strength, resulting in an album that is truly Chicago
inspired House with a contemporary vibe.” Says Moodmusic Records founder Klas Lindblad. “This is not the type of House music that you need to create a new buzzword for. This is solid House. Soulful, emotional, intense, refreshingly raw at times and always respectful towards the history of electronic music. It reflects truly who Bobby and Tyree are as DJs and persons. It is honest. That’s why I was immediately on board with Moodmusic as their label." “The Way We Walk”, feature track of the first single collaboration: “Jack the Box presents: The Tyree Cooper and Bobby Starrr E.P.” was welcomed with kudos by the house scene in September 2012. Followed to even more buzz in May 2013 by the second single output “Pon de Undaground” with remixes by Dingeman, Antti Rasi and Snuff Crew. “Pon de Undaground (Dingeman Remix)” was selected for Defected Records’ summer hit compilation “Loco Dice in the House”. On stage, Jack The Box’s undeniable charisma and enthusiasm for deep, Chicago inspired yet contemporary House music and their flawless track record of successful parties has garnered Tyree Cooper and Bobby Starrr a distinguished reputation amongst a remarkably high caliber of international House veterans which they have invited to their regular parties at Kater Holzig and Tresor in Berlin. The duo translates their party spirit into their first album output in their collaborations with Baby Bambaata (Jungle Brothers), Lady Blacktronika and Mandel Turner, keeping a balance between deep and sexy instrumental jams and full on party house. Says Bobby Starrr: “All of the artists that we approached have a very authentic individuality and strong character and most importantly, they are family and add to our positive vibe. As DJs we want to play out more tracks that feel like a “song” and for the album we were intent on making tracks with full vocal lyrics as opposed to a mainly melody focused album with one or two vocal tunes.” More

Moodmusic is proud to present you Jack The Box, the collab between Chicago legend Tyree Cooper and Rob Stanley aka Bobby Starrr. Starting as a event collective in Berlin with nights in underground joints like Tresor, Kater Holzig, Kleine Reise and Loftus Hall. The duo finally spent some time in the studio with some amazing results which we are about to hear on Moodmusic. `The Tyree Cooper & Bobby Starrr EP´ starts with The Way We Walk, a belter of a house track taking vibes from early US labels like Bottom Line and House Jam. Next up is Got You with the vocals from Lady Blacktronika which is showing another vibe from the duo, syncopated beats with a bassline, fitting perfectly to the late 2012 vibe. The EP ends with AC3, a deep, dark and dirty tool for the late night hours showing some true Chi-town love from the new masters of deep. More

Starting in 2004 with ‘Made Within The Upper Stairs Of Heaven’ and 2008 with ‘Toinen’, Lindblad has a tendency for symmetry, and now with the release of ‘Third Encounter’ in 2012 is no coincidence, just a scandinavian way of saying good things take their time and it’s worth the wait. Analog synthesizers, sequencers and tape decks are something which are widely used in todays electronic music, but it is the mixture of the old and new - keeping the tradition of live jams instead of pre defined arrangements, choosing high standards in fidelity but keeping the rough feel to it – these elements together keep the sound of Sasse one step ahead of the competition, and why he is considered to be one of the most consistant producers in the scene. While ‘Fingers Inc’ and ‘707 Heaven’ pays homage to the gold era of Detroit and Chicago house, songs like ‘Analog City’ and ‘Fantazy’ brings memories of the mid 90s Sasse material, true Deep House as it used to be done. While ‘Alpha’ and ‘Der Groove’ takes a naked live jam approach to how to abuse analog goodies, ‘Low Slove’ and ‘Treat Me’ are raw sample based tunes, perfect for a late night dj-set. The album Third Encounter showcases the 20 past years of Klas Lindblad as a musician, dj and sound engineer, one who’s seen most of the modern musical styles evolve and dissolve. Always relying on the basic principles of Electronic Dance Music that less is more, Lindblad brings another fine full-lengt artist album out, surely to be considered his finest work til today.

Deep vocals from Yetta are layered on top of a solid groover with suprising guitar parts giving an almost balearic feel, though firmly keeping the groove tightly locked. Remixes comes courtesy of fellow south american and Exploited Records shooting star Joyce Muniz as well as the dynamic UK duo Craig Torrance & Finn Casey. While Joyce Muniz delivers a version for the deeper floors with her Ilegard Remix, her Dejando Remix is perfect tracky peak hour fun. The Torrance & Casey Remix concentrates on a modern touch, giving the original a slightly more electronic feel.

A1. Fingers Inc A2. Der Groove B1. Treat Me B2. What Can You C1. Eagle Eyes C2. Alpha D1. 707 Heaven D2. Low Slove

Jay West, - Blame The Music
Jay West from Argentina has been releasing quality deep house (the real sort that is) for the past decade, last years Smile EP on BEBR got some serious playlist and chart action from everybody who knows their shit, and we´re please to welcome him to the Moodmusic family.
The EP starts with Blame The Music, the sort of feel-good house music we used to get loads of in the early to mid 90s from the Big Apple. Swinging beats, almost disco bass and a sunshine filled vocal are the ingredients for a tune, and Jay has delivered one. This will probably not be belted by the kids house community, but real heads knows what to do with this weapon. Down continues the journey with Victor Simonelli style keys and a bouncy bassline, making place for the low-slung In & Out tune which have some serious west coast mushroom influences. We love it!
To end the EP the catchy little Mean Machine finally brings the smile to your face. More

Good Stuff is the first single taken from Luomo's PLUS album, appearing in September 2011 on Moodmusic Records. Luomo aka Vladislav Delay, Sistol, Uusitalo... under a raft of names Finnish artist Sasu Ripatti has in the last years experimented with ambient, broken beat, glitch as well as grooves and house music with soulful vocals, working with Scissor Sisters, Black Dice, Apparat, Craig Armstrong, Massive Attack, Robert Owens and Towa Tei. Never going for a one formula approach, PLUS has a distinct
Luomo sound - hypnotic, sexy and delicately insistent, rhythms following a self-movement and never standing still. Good Stuff brings Luomo's pop abilities to top-form, changing between a mid 80s boogie bass and synthetic yet warm deep house with a positive vocal deliver from the ever intriguing Chicago Boys.Remixes comes courtesy of Area, Dave DK and Nils Penner. With RETAKE ONE Berlin's Moodmusic label is kicking off a new Mix CD series. The first edition is being delivered by Moodmusic homeboy Dave DK. The idea for the Retake series was born, when label head Sasse has released the Starstyling Mix on the occasion of the Fashion Week 2009, including only releases from the label. RETAKE ONE contains some classic and new unreleased Moodmusic tracks as well as influential material from the past 10 years. Besides Dave's edit off Sasse's "Wrapper" track (Penner + Muder Remix) the mix features three new exclusive tracks that will also be released on a separate 12": Dave DK - Will Be Gone, Axel Boman - Cinquenta and Citycobra - Fresh Simple. To present an 80 minute overview of his DJ style, Dave has handpicked some of his favourite tunes from his recordbox. To present a modern and organic sound, most tracks have been recorded from Vinyl, partly from Vinyl-only-labels. With the focus being put not only on the music but also on the packaging and design, Retake One stands out in the present flood of mediocre media and music releases. Top designer Matthias Egil Last (awardee of "the world's best designed newspaper") has been called in for the artwork. No less than two photoshootings were necessary to come up with the final result. Last is also responsible for the design of the Watergate Mix CD series. After his residencies at Tresor Club since 1999 as well as Panorama Bar since 2001, Dave DK has been a key figure in Berlin's music community. Spinning nowadays regularly throughout legendary clubs in Berlin, Dave is also playing gigs all around the world. Having released his first 12"s on Raum Musik in the late 90's, the long players SENSORY OVERLOAD (2000 Müller Records) and LIGHTS AND COLOURS (2007 Moodmusic) were the highlights of his career which is now being crowned with RETAKE ONE.

Nils Penner and John Muder produced their first 4-Track Demo CD in August 2007. Produced in the Suol Studios in East-Berlin for fun rather than with a full-blown business plan, Sasse signed 2 tracks of this demo for his Moodmusic imprint. „Are You Lost“ became Penner+Muders first vinyl 12“ release. It got great reactions from the dj community and the Bside „Millenium Falcon“ was picked by electro-maestro Oliver Huntemann himself for his Mix Compilation „Play 02! Live at Rex / Paris“. At this time John and Nils made the decision to only play Live sets so the duo could concentrate fully on their own sound, rather than taking a line at the end of the ever-growing dj list. The first gig became quite a kick-off. It happened at a Moodmusic showcase at the well-known Panorama Bar in Berlin late summer 2008 and the feedback was none less than stellar. One good thing lead to another and gigs happened at Watergate, Berlin and Baalsaal, Hamburg with more planned for the spring/summer 2010. Release-wise the guys kept it slow and focussed on quality than quantity. Working from two cities (Hamburg and Berlin) with rather short studio-time it almost took one year before the second EP „No Nose Knows“ hit the stores. Meanwhile the duo has also remixed for Moodmusic, Oliver Koletzki´s XXX label and Suol. Their current single, entitled „Another EP“, is in the pipe on the new imprint Wazi Wazi, which is already gaining support and respect from the critics like De-Bug Magazine. Wazi Wazi is Nils personal label side-project (with Sasse) besides workin with John and handling a graphic design business he is living on. Johns passion is music based and he is working nonstop with his partner in crime Chi-Thien Nguyen aka Chopstick and their successfull new homebase „Suol“. Pretty much right after the release of „Are You Lost“ Sasse asked the guys if they were up for a full-length album on Moodmusic and guess what: they were. Working on the album happened over the last two years, pending between Hamburg and Berlin, and came to an end by the end of 2009. „Same Monkeys Different Zoo“ is scheduled for June 2010. The first single taken from the album, entitled „Speak Your Mind“, was produced together with Roman Fritz from Plasmik. Remixes will come from japanese Pokerflat artist Ryo Murakami and Get Physical signing Siopis. At this point Nils and John are really looking forward to the Album release and to play some hot and dirty Album-Tour Live gigs. More

Nick Chacona's debut album has been a long time in the coming, the distillation of a decade of recording and producing for some of the world's leading electronic music labels. But it has certainly been worth the wait as he teams up with the highly respected Moodmusic for the release of .Love in the Middle', a collection of soul soaring and inspiring cuts that blur the imposed genre lines into non existence. Brooklyn based Chacona began his music odyssey in the nineties, first as a DJ then producer, quickly gaining a reputation for an eclecticism born of his love of reggae and new found passion for house and disco. His breakthrough single .Band Practice' brought him mass attention in the early noughties and led to
partnerships with labels such as Ben Watt's Buzzin Fly, 20:20 Vision, Bearfunk, Prins Thomas' Internasjonal and of course Sasse's Moodmusic. Whilst his recording career took of in a big way his talents as a DJ continued to bring him plaudits worldwide and saw him travelling the globe in the pursuit of musical perfection.
And so, after ten long years in the studio, we finally have Chacona's debut long player, the awesome .Love in the Middle'. Opening with the appropriately titled .Especial' this album makes its intent clear from the very start with a warm and organic sound that dispels any concerns about this being a soulless .dance' album. Deep, dubby and disco fuelled the opening cut gives way to the stunning .Turning and Tossing' before running the gamut of musical emotions with superb collaborations with Sheffield's Kathy Diamond (The Fear) and Brothers Vibe (Wait). This is an album that oozes emotion and production quality from every bar be it in the Mr Fingers inspired .Be Like Olive' or the bassbin shaking .Eskayelator', Chacona's talent truly shines on this stunning collection of tracks. The sound of the album has been partly inspired by Nick's travels during the making of .Love in the Middle'; time spent with Sasse and James Flavour in Berlin lends a sense of the city's vibrant atmosphere whilst stints in California and Colorado bring the fell of sunshine and space in equal part. Fittingly Nick returned to his home town of Brooklyn, New York to complete the piece, moving in with his girlfriend Shanan Campanaro, who provides the inspiration for the title as well as the physical artwork the graces the sleeve of the release. Nick Chacona has been a respected fixture in the world of electronic music for sometime but it seems that he is truly blossoming with this superb selection of recordings that simply cannot be ignored.

In 2008 began a new chapter for Berlin-based Italian Filippo Moscatello, with his choice to retire his DJ Naughty alias representing a shift back to his techno and house roots after a decade of eclectic, electro mischief. Metamorphosis and re-invention are key themes. Equally prolific as remix artist and producer, Filippo has reinvigorated tracks for artists of the calibre of Goldfrapp, Fischerspooner, Inner City and many others. A flag-bearer for DJ Hell’s genre-redefining ‘International Deejay Gigolo’ label in the late 90’s with his first 12-inch release ‘Boing Bumm Tschag’. His debut artist album ‘Disco Volante’ and collaborations with Terranova and The Cosmonauts of Innerspace followed, further distinguishing his place at the helm of the disco-charged house aesthetic at the birth of the millennium. Equally prominent in his productions, an intuitive logic maps Filippo’s ascendancy to the forefront of the Berlin soundscape. Sicilian-born, his Italo-Disco education resonates throughout his releases on seminal labels such as Eskimo and K7!, and reflects in his relationships formed with studio mates and kindred spirits Ewan Pearson and Sasse. His latest transformation has found fertile ground on Sasse’s ‘Moodmusic’ imprint, with last year’s ‘World EP’ paving the way for a new studio album to be released in the winter of this year. These sophisticated house and techno productions count as some of Filippo’s finest work yet, suggesting that his decision to send the naughty boy to bed might just be taking the party to the next level. In February 2009 his long awaited second album “Pagliaccio” will be released on Moodmusic.
