After the success of the fantastic album, Atomic Age, No.19 Music released recently from Canadian musical talents My Favorite Robot, the label has decided to enlist four acclaimed producers to provide remixes of key tracks. Detroit bad boy Jimmy Edgar, Chicago's Kate Simko and legendary techno producer Mr. G all appear on this great EP. The one and only Jimmy Edgar - who has recently launched his own label Ultramajic - goes first with his terrifically alluring version of 'White Light'. He expertly re-works the track into a robotic bit of house that's filled with pinging synths lines, rasping metal chords and shiny percussion. It's typically libidinous and full-blooded and is sure to make for some really standout moments on the 'floor. No-nonsense Rekids man Mr. G then re-imagines 'Here Tonight' as a heavyweight, firmly rooted techno groove with manic conga playing and drilling bass fleshing out the groove. It's a driving track for the dead of night and displays all the man's usual full-throttle intent. Kate Simko, a revered DJ, live act and producer with labels like Leftroom, remixes the superbly titled 'Centerofattentionaaut' with the help of some live musicians including violinists. In her hands the track is a slightly spooky, sparse affair that snakes it way through a desolate urban landscape with subtly rising, hugely musical melodies and plenty of unsettling ambiance contained within. When the vocal arrives at the mid-point it marks a timely release of tension that will undoubtedly send hands skywards. Given the quality of the source material it's no wonder these remixes are so refreshing, but kudos to No. 19 Music for bringing in just the right names to ensure such an amazing result.

The ever-excellent No.19 Music team up with the enigmatic and highly talented Ali Love for a new single featuring production and remix duties from Brigante. Ali Love whose work with the likes of Hot Natured and Crosstown Rebels has created such a stir. Love has been a key player in electronic music for some time now, working alongside acid house legend Eon in the band Ignition before signing to Columbia as a solo artist and hooking up with London's Back Yard. This latest single sees Ali teams up with producer Brigante to deliver two superb new cuts, Brigante also offering up his own remix on the second track. The record opens with 'Playa', a deep and hypnotic, bass driven affair that fuses percussive elements and understated melodies to create the base for Ali Love's distinctively ethereal and soulful vocals, quality stuff from beginning to end. The A side is complemented by the superb 'Brigante's Jungle' a warm and haunting slice of underground house music that once again showcases Ali's vocals, as his incantations about the Jungle sit against staccato vocal effects and old school Chicago inspired stabs. Exclusively available on the vinyl release we have Seb Brigante's remix of 'Brigante's Jungle' that sees the record taken into deep and twisted territory with the vocal heavily effected and the drums brought to the fore, a perfect version to close this stunning single. With each new signing, No19 Music seem to further open up the label's direction whilst maintaining the highest levels of quality and with this single from Ali Love they have done it again, enjoy!

Tone Of Arc, - Shaking The Sky

Tone Of Arc, - No Pushers
Tone of Arc is the new moniker from Derrick Boyd the multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, producer who has been creating such a stir after his recent performances at the No.19 Social Experiment events at BPM in Mexico and WMC in Miami and with his forthcoming remix for Visionquest. His marriage of inspiring production/songwriting and truly unique live/dj performances make him a very exciting prospect as anyone who has caught him live can testify to. Now he is set to distil all of this into an album for his friends at No.19, and as an early taster of that, we have here his debut single 'Shaking the Sky / No Pushers'. The A side track 'Shaking the Sky' is a superb bass driven slice of dark house that weaves eighties tinged synth work and rolling drums with the wonderfully contrasting vocals of Boyd & partner Zoe Presnick. This is an instant late night anthem and surely set to become one of the biggest No.19 records to date: it's easy to see why this has been a staple in Art Department Dj sets for the last year. The flipside sees Boyd shift down a gear with the sublime & laidback 'No Pushers', a track that was debuted during Jonny White & Shaun Reeves set at the Legendary Sacbe Jungle party in Playa Del Carmen earlier this year. The record melds a brilliant warm bassline, layers of hypnotic pads and a shuffling drum section to create the perfect base for his ethereal vocals. This is a wonderfully accompaniment to the driving energy of 'Shaking the Sky' and shows the rich diversity of the Tone of Arc sound.
