The Late Great Fitzcarraldos is a Danish trio consisting of Tobias Buch-Andersen (vocals and Keyoboards), Jacob Funch (Guitar and vocals) also known from I Got You On Tape, and Jakob Millung (Bass and Vocals) - also in the band Choir of Young Believers.
The Late Great Fitzcarraldos are (...) a volatile gas, which appears to have found temporary peace in a house built by Roy Orbison, Phil Spector and Motown Berry Gordy only to be blown up with love in slow motion by Brian Eno and some of the other colorful producers from the 80s. The trio who records and lives in U.S. and Denmark write elegant luscious songs that make you dream away to a country where there are cocktails coming out of the taps, wall-to-wall carpeting is woven of marijuana, and a Caribbean sun washed in pastel colors 24-7. The most accurate description I can offer is perhaps Hawaii as a naive narcotic illusion.
The eponymous debut album is a headstrong eccentric oasis where edges are turned into curves. But the ideas, whether a harmonica on a long voyage, a comatose saxophone section or the recurring stiff-legged rhythm box, keeps the listener alert. And then Tobias Buch, a brilliant soul singer, in the midst of all this. As shown it can be highly addictive."
So far they released an EP in Denmark and toured with Efterklang. The debut album will be released 26.8.2011 through Fake Diamond / Word & Sound and is accompanied by a live tour.

LA-based electronic duo OOFJ are elated to announce the release of their sophomore album Acute Feast. The brainchild of real-life couple Jenno Bjørnkjær and Katherine Mills-Rymer, the LA-based electronic duo
OOFJ met in New York City while Bjørnkjær was working on music for Lars Von Trier's Melancholia. This chance encounter developed into both a romantic and sonic chemistry that would eventually lead to the
couple collaborating on music that formed the foundations of OOFJ. After winning critics over in June with the sensual nostalgic aura of "Snakehips", OOFJ released "You're Always Good" on Noisey. The track starts with orchestral strings paired with thick, foreboding basslines and ends in a rhythmic explosion featuring the frenetic jungle-esque percussion played by Trentemøller's Jacob Hoyer and Mills-Rymer's darkly romantic vocals. Most recently, The Guardian premiered the video for "I Forgive You". The third single off their upcoming album Acute Feast is a sweeping, hauntingly lush track of duplicity. OOFJ created a song that feels like a restrained underwater heartbreak - a tale about perfect beings, aliens, being imperfect.
Equal parts glamorous and nightmarish, with a glittery seductive tone to it, the track hints at the otherworldly, almost hyper-real world that OOFJ don't just reside in, but have orchestrated. My bubba (former My bubba & Mi) are a daringly sweet pair of Scandinavian ladies, whose songs are slow and easy, teasing and pleasing. After a soft start in American folk, they are now exploring the dance moves of more far-fetched and exotic inspirations - they just finished a record with producer Noah Georgeson holding both carnival rhythms, jungle poems and desert riding chants! All silky like, simple and melodic, with a sassy crunch.
It all started a couple of years ago in Copenhagen, when Bubba, from Iceland, happened to move into My's (Swedish) apartment. They started spending evenings together humming homely hymns, and soon found themselves in Italy making a record; the very lovely 'How it's done in Italy'. Since then they have been adventuring about and around, playing hundreds of club shows and festivals in Europe and USA. In 2011 they released single 'Bob', EP 'Wild & You' and the Japanese special edition of 'How it's done in Italy'. In their spare time, My works as a train driver, and Bubba is an adman. In 2013 they have recorded their second full length album in LA.

After bonding over their mutual love for French synthesizer music, all things Russian, and Serge Gainsbourg, Jenno Bjørnkjær and Katherine Mills Rymer formed OOFJ, whose distinctive chilled-out sounds find their way deep into your ear like an electronic wind gyrating with eerie symphonies plus the delicate sound of expensive-lingerie vocals, that could make you cry in a good-looking way. Recorded with the Prague Symphony Orchestra, OOFJ's ambitious debut Disco To Die To is ten darkly-tinted, downtempo movements of pop noir that simultaneously manage to reference disparate, touchstones and inspirations; Nico's hypnotic gloomy 60s folk, techno's
minimalism and subtleties, Twin Peaks, the majestic symphonies of 20th century composers, and rhythms and structures equally indebted to jazz and trip-hop. Often all in the same song. Bjørnkjær and Rymer met in New York, while Jenno was playing in the band Hessismore and working on film music for Lars Von Trier’s Melancholia. However OOFJ and Disco To Die To came about by accident at first. Originally OOFJ (Orchestra of Jenno) began as an instrumental solo project but everything fell into place with the addition of Katherine, transforming it into something larger in scope. After the passing of Katherine's father, they were in South Africa for the wake and upstairs in her brother's room they recorded the very first track. Two months later, while on a winter road trip through Europe, they recorded in the Swiss Alps, Germany and Copenhagen. Katherine went back to a South Africa and recorded the vocals in her bed while he mothers parrot made loud noises. Meanwhile, Jenno recorded the scores with the Prague Symphony Orchestra and made the underwater sounds of the beat landscape while touring with The Danish Royal Theatre. They finished the album in Los Angeles (where they now reside) while drinking lots of diet soda and breaking for walks in the Canyons. They kept some of the sounds of the parrot. For release of Disco To Die To a piece of visual art being commissioned for each song on the album. The unveiling is about to commence...

It's immense, warm and intricate. Chanting choruses, high-pitched choirs, violins and strong emotional expression are blended with the sound of crickets, cowbells and gentle, rolling waves of synth. Every second has its own sound, and I want to hear everything again because I didn't really understand how it all worked. Please. With "The Album ID", This Is Head seem to have created a record touched by a magical glow, but built on damned hard graft.

Atoi is a band from Copenhagen, Denmark, that reaches for threads to hold on to, which turns in to funny balls of yarn and colourful sweaters. The music is knit together by four individuals that in assembly creates a diverse outcome, played with an ever-changing instrumentation and odd pop melodies. It is fine Scandinavian electronic indie with a touch of northern melancholy - soundscapes and sweet pop melodies, which makes you drift off to far away shores.The band released their cover of Björk's "Army of Me" on her own record "Army of Me - Remixes and Covers" and in February 2009 they released their debut album Youth Machine. To accompany the album, a remix EP was released, featuring remixes of different album tracks by renowned producers such as Opiate (Thomas Knak), Kasper Bjørke (Filur) and MhM One (Tartelet Records). The stunning papercut artwork for both releases has been created by Danish artist MaMaMo.Atoi has been a well-known figure in the Danish underground for some time, and the band has played concerts at some of the most recognized venues and festivals in Denmark - and was also picked out for the Jenny Wilson tour in Denmark.

The second wordandsound dsitributed release on this great new danish label we signed and the second album als for one of their main producers, jack of all spades: PEDER. Peder is know for releasing his debut on american Ubiquity and his music is complex but well balanced melange of soul fueled electronic and bespoke indie pop for the new decade.
On "Dirt & Gold" "I wanted to experiment. Do something that was both noisier and quieter, with many tempi, many singers, and many musicians. At the time everything I listened to was channeled onto the record," Peder says, and lists up names like Tom Waits, Nina Simone, Chet Atkins, Django Reinhardt, Ray Charles etc. So you find surf guitar, hip-hop, french sounding film music, Draculaorgan, ghost pop, 1980s-Synth, and more on "Dirt & Gold. "If its got soul, I have tried to include it on the record", he notes.
Some of the results could easily appear on a very good upcoming Amy Winehouse release like "Love Lost City"featuring the electrostatic cph shooting star Oh Land, but there´s more great input by the likes of Danish P3 Gold winner Jacob Bellens from I Got You On Tape, Claus Hemple, Signe Marie Schmidt-Jacobsen while Asger Baden has been a close partner and co-composer and the lyrics are by Rasmus Olsen.
Suitable for the many facets of the album the tracks are generated individually between Peder's other projects - in particular film music in recent years and the other albums on Fake Diamond he´s involved in.

NME favoured Scandinavian/French Indie Pop Sensation Cours Lapin with their much acclaimed Debut. Think if Domino are to release the ultimate Vanessa Paradis album she never did and Sigur Ross to produce it together with Benjamin Biolay- this would be it!
The music is beautifully gloomy with wonderfully catchy melodies. The acoustic instruments are complimented by a few subtle electronic elements, which create an intense atmosphere around Louise Alenius' fragile vocals and melancholy lyrics.
Whilst the songs "Mes larmes secrets (My secret tears)" and "1,2,3" are delivered with a classic innocence inspired by Classic French Chanson Traditions, "Cache-cache (Hide and seek)" and "Cours lapin (Bunny run)" mix sexy jazzy nightclub sounds with a couple of old-school surf-riffs.
Bright and Unique but also Soothing and amorph Un, Deux, Trois is one of the most complete Indie Pop Albums we heard this year, Cours Lapin played Roskilde Festival as well as a Notttinghill Arts Club in 2010 to a rapturous reception from both audiences and the critics and got rave revious all over europe from French "Les Inroctibles" to leading Uk indie Mag "Drowned in Sound" .
