Daniel Bortz, - Don't Call
Daniel Bortz the young gun from Augsburg is already known nationwide for his DJ-residency at the infamous Rote Sonne Club in munich and his outstanding releases on Pastamusik. On SUOL he presents a 4 tracker that will blow your mind… we are proud to present: Suol025 Daniel Bortz "The One EP". On A1 we find "Cuz You're The One" … a slow tune right up our alley. With such patience Daniel works the vibe, the beat and the vocal to a point of no return. A full on summer hit in the making… "Don't Call" on A2 shows the playful side of his work. The way he stirs up all the ingredients for a perfect deep tool is amazing… way to go to round up a perfect 12" release. I'm sure, this one will find its place in many sophisticated sets. B1 offers us "Boyz 2 Men" … no direct link to the R'n'B combo from Philadelphia, but in a way the use of the vocals in this one makes me reminisce of those good old times. The driving beat in combination with the beautiful piano makes people on the floor go "like a horde of bulls at a gate" … try this one and you will know in an instant - summer's here! As if this wasn't enough there is one more … "Other Guys" on B2 is the groover in the package. Great footwork on the beat and a bassline that will make em shake on an instant. A vocal sample and a sudden key change in the bass takes this one home. such a beauty!

Shortinfo:
Daniel Bortz, a staple among electronic music producers, returns with his new album "Stay". After "Patchwork Memories" on Suol from 2013, it's the second album for Berlin-born and Augsburg-rooted Daniel. From his early days of James Blake editing and riding the slow house wave, Daniel has perfected and diversived his production skills over the seven year course between the albums. His range spans euphoric techno, cinematic breakbeats, heart warming electronica and classic deep house, you can witness on his eps for Innervisions, Pastamusik (the infamous Bella Avgvsta trilogy) or even on the legendary DJ Kicks mix series from grandmaster Moodymann, who selected one of Bortz's tracks on his volume. After his three eps (one with his friend and long time collaborator Sascha Sibler and one under his DJ Hotel alias) on Permanent Vacation, Daniel takes the consequential step and releases his second full-length album with the Munich based label. With the 11 tracks on "Stay", Daniel Bortz evokes his teenage years and dreamwalks through his upbringing during the 90's. Musically he brings together what never should have been separated: House, Acid, Downbeat and Breakbeat all rooted in the sample aesthetic of Hip Hop, thereby capturing the full emotional spectrum of life and love. Music that came to stay.

Daniel Bortz has had an amazing year since he joined the family and gained worldwide recognition with his productions. Now he is back on Suol with his new 4 track EP "Heal The World EP". On A1 we find "Harry", a slow jam groover with an amazing vibe including some of Daniels own vocals. So if you thought he is "only" a sample guy - you're dead wrong. This one works throughout the set, from beginning to end (if you can manage to play peaktime on 105 bpm). A2 holds "By Ya Side" in store for you featuring Daniels buddy Nils Corßen on the mic. An uplifting house tune with the typical ass shaking temper that makes all of these tracks go straight to you feet. "Walk" is next on B1. A deep bassline-driven tune that cuts right through to the bone. The whole Suol crew has been playing this one for weeks now and the reaction is always the same. People dreaming while dancing. Bortz at his best. Last but not least Daniel himself is back on the mic for "Rescue Me" on B2. Building up with some old school hip hop sounds and organs, slowly introducing the vocals this one will take you away after the break. Since he first showed us the demo, the hookline has been haunting us ... "rescue me - with your love"
This is 2012. This is Daniel Bortz. This is Suol.... This is us and we do what we do!

There is no stopping Meggy at the moment. With “TIMES” and “WELCOME TO THE V”, the Berlin born DJ, producer and vocalist has already delivered two top notch EPs on Suol in 2018 and here she is back again already with a third. Sporting four tracks, the “FLOWERS EP” once again showcases not only Meggy’s production prowess but also the unmistakable vocal style and songwriting abilities which have earned her so many high level feature appearances throughout her career.
The title track revolves around a hypnotically modulating analogue synth riff and drum patterns that point urgently towards the dance floor. Meggy speaks to us through chords that have an almost ravey feel to them. With its clever arrangement this track is clearly hands-in-the-air material.
“VERY MOMENTS” starts with only an electrically charged synth and organ combo and a classic Meggy vocal. The groove then starts building bit by bit, patiently leaving space for a beautifully emotional piece of songwriting before elegantly placed pianos come in and the hi-hats pick up the pace.
A bouncing interaction of drum machine and syncopated, squelching bass line draws us in straight away in “SUMMER NITES”. On a track that would surely be a dance floor winner even if it were left instrumental, the vocal with the little R&B touch that Meggy does so well is the icing on the cake.
The EP ends with “CLOSER”, the deepest and most emotional of the four tracks. Whether it is the somewhat melancholic vocal or the positive feelings of the instrumental parts you catch on to, the groove will make you want to dance either way. More

Suol label bosses Chopstick & Johnjon return with the second single from their recent LP "Twelve". The album's opener, "Run Slowly" is an intensely soulful track which bridges the gap between electronic and acoustic instrumentation. Densely layered guitar and string harmonics dovetail alongside Chris James' mournful vocals to create a rich emotional listening experience, but without sacrificing dancefloor potential. André Loderman's less-is-more interpretation retains the melodic elements but injects it with space by weaving it out across nine minutes into a carefully controlled crescendo of muted harmonies. Few Nolder's slightly harder interpretation has a tougher bassline and brittle synth stabs, but melts away into a delicately beautiful breakdown, retaining the bittersweet strings and vocals of the original. Rounding off the EP is Quarion's remix, a late night excursion which comprises primarily of an ominous arpeggiated synth and muffled chords. Leaving the vocals fully intact, it makes for heady and intoxicating listening.

What Chopstick & Johnjon have created in "Pining Moon" is arguably their most intently focused pop song to date. Recorded in collaboration with Chris James, whose projects include the band Stateless, the song features deeply emotional arrangements driven by a punchy kick drum and cleverly interwoven with enticing, dreamy acoustic guitar and cello cameos. It’s all topped by vocals from James that redefine the concept of nocturnal romance. This is one of the most poignant and striking songs on Chopstick & Johnjon’s “TWELVE” (release 04.04.2014), making it a perfect choice for the album's first single. Jay Shepheard delivers two different interpretations of the song. The first is airier, with a synth pattern that turns the song's vocal harmony on its head and shines the spotlight on falsetto. The second is the absolute synthesis of dance floor groove and melancholic, sighing guitar. The Death on the Balcony Remix takes a similar approach, where the gentle arrangements of the original are capped with a pulsating bass groove, which takes the song decisively in the direction of the dance floor.

Chasing Kurt, - From the Inside
Readying Chasing Kurt followers for the release of their debut album - of same name - "From The Inside" presents the Giessen-based troupe at the apex of their game, that being warm, velveteen house music awash with soulful pop sentiment. It is a formula that has already caught the attention of contemporary dancefloor purveyors like Maya Jane Cole, who snapped up the trio's sophomore release "Money" for her well received DJ-Kicks mix last year. But the boys are fundamentally making a niche all of their own. The EP comes with remixes from Suol mainstay Till von Sein collaborating once again with Tigerskin on the punchy, octane B-side, with a more languid, sensual rework from another Suol affiliate Daniel Bortz.

Sven von Thülen, - Those Days and Nights
After his solo debut "Mehlspeicher EP", House-jack-of-all-trades Sven von Thülen delivers his second EP "Beginnings" on Suol. And, well, what can you expect from Sven? Nothing less than 4 pieces of finest Old School House, wrapped up in a contemporary garment. Listening to "Liquid Light", one could think that Sven has written this track on a Sunday afternoon in Panorama Bar. A dark, sexy and hypnotizing voice, smashing claps and these haunting chords that make you want someone to open the window shutters to let the sun shine in for just a few seconds. The A2 with "Those Days And Nights" uses a slightly softer approach. Carried by a dreamy layer, this track is made to ease minds after - well, those days and nights ... On B1, "Illuminate" raises the throttle again and turns the dancefloor lights back on. If not being a peaktime bomb like "Liquid Light", it will work perfectly for every DJ to pave the way into whatever is set to come.
