"deepcut59" is a manifest not for minimalism but simplicity where only the slow swelling of a chord can make you burst with joy and just the addition of a hi-hat will stir you into action with new vigor. "on the way back" over on the b-side features a relentlessly pushing, driving rhythm with abstract, piercing piano chords scattered all over while the title of the closing "rhodes on drums" says it all: sweet wailing, rhodes musings on "love and happiness" for those blue hours in the morning.
