Londoner Lazarus, now based in L.A., is best known for founding the Crosstown Rebels labeland helping shape the sound of contemporary techno in his twin roles as taste-making A&R andglobally renowned DJ. Having been asked on countless occasions when he would step out from behind the decks and into the producer’s chair, Lazarus has finally capitulated – and the results are far more unusual and engaging than what anyone could have imagined. It would have been easy, or at least expected, for Lazarus to make a strictly instrumental, dancefloor-oriented album, perhaps enlisting the help of “celebrity” vocalists to flesh it out – but Smoke The Monster Out is a far more ambitious and considered project than that. First up, it really is an album, a rangy and cleverly paced narrative inspired chiefly by the dancefloor’s play of darkness and light, but also classic love songs and emotive, gut-wrenching pop music old and new. Though Lazarus’s grounding in house and techno is apparent throughout, this record is really a song-based affair, full of unusual acoustic instrumentation and delicately wrought arrangements, which Lazarus wrote with collaborator Arthur Jeffes - son of the Penguin Café Orchestra’s Simon Jeffes. The Rebels boss has taken a long view of his life as a music-lover, drawing on older influences as diverse as Photek, Jeff Buckley and Bjork, taking their essence and suffusing it with the twisted dancefloor alchemy we associate with his DJ sets. Perhaps most significantly, not to mention surprisingly, Lazarus himself sings on several of the album’s tracks, investing his songs with his own distinct personality and quiet expressiveness. This is Damian Lazarus as you’ve never heard him before. Lazarus has a vision, and isn’t afraid to realize it.

Damian Lazarus - Sunrise Generation ft. Fink (Meera Remix)
Damian Lazarus returns to Crosstown Rebels with new single ‘Sunrise Generation’, featuring Fink. Including a remix from Norwegian talent and up-and-coming Crosstown family member Meera, the single marks Lazarus’ ?rst material on his iconic label in over a year. Visionary DJ/producer and Crosstown Rebels founder, Damian Lazarus, makes his long-awaited return to the label with his new single ‘Sunrise Generation’, featuring the voice of acclaimed and celebrated singer-songwriter Fink. Set for release on 8th November 2024, the highly anticipated production marks Damian’s ?rst material on Crosstown since his collaboration ‘Revolution’ with Dennis Cruz in October 2023, his Grammy-nominated single ‘Don’t Be Afraid’ with Diplo & Jungle, and his ?rst solo release since his ‘Beijing Spring’ project on sub-label Secret Teachings in April 2022. An emotive, captivating and uplifting track, ‘Sunrise Generation’ is not just a return to form but a heartfelt homage that celebrates the magical moment and euphoric energy of sunrise. The release also features a return for Norway’s Meera, an exciting artist whose recent outing on Crosstown Rebels with her ‘Stikk’ EP made notable waves, building on her debut on sister label Rebellion last year in style. Her remix brings fresh energy, layering deep textures and rhythms over Fink’s haunting and heavily processed vocals to create a stirring counterpart to the original. A sonic celebration of unity and renewal, ‘Sunrise Generation’ once again a?rms Lazarus’ status as a true leader within the electronic scene. The single follows a series of high-pro?le remixes, including reinterpretations of tracks from Josh Wink, Jamie Jones, Bedouin, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs (TEED), and Made By Pete, along with his acclaimed collaboration ‘Don’t Be Afraid’ with Diplo and Jungle. As always, Lazarus’ ability to craft atmospheric, emotion-driven soundscapes shines through here as he continues to innovate and inspire with another cherished anthem crafted for special dance?oor moments.

The ends of days are ones with which Damian Lazarus is familiar, but, much like his biblical namesake, he too, has come back from the brink and risen to fight on, his career is interwoven with themes of survival and re-birth. Fittingly then, his second solo album does not wallow in our current dark times but charts a path of hope. Flourish, offers a glimpse of a new world worth living in and surviving for. Flourish takes us through the many lives of Damian Lazarus, who, as he has grown older, and traversed the globe, has come to more deeply examine the role the dance floor plays in his own life and that of others. With parties cancelled, it would have been easy to wallow, but instead urgency took hold, and isolated Italian countryside Damian took the space to tackle the larger questions he has been grappling with for years. As anyone who has watched Lazarus DJ can attest, his inspirations are deep and varied, criss-crossing show tunes, drum n bass, jazz, electro, soul, house, techno and everything in-between. This album reflects his immersion in a multitude of scenes over the years, from the early days of London drum n bass, to his role as a figurehead in the electroclash scene, and of course the significant impact his Crosstown Rebels label has had on contemporary underground house and techno. Damian’s work reminds us that however taxing the journeys there are always moments of beauty to be found. TRACK LISTING: A1. Beth, A2. Dark Heaven Light, A3. Holy, B1. Leave, B2. Mountain, C1. Damian Lazarus - Diamond In The Dark (Tibi Dabo Remix)
Damian Lazarus will celebrate the tenth anniversary of his acclaimed 2009 debut album ‘Smoke The Monster Out’ with the release of a re-mastered and expanded edition on his label Crosstown Rebels on the 27th September. In celebration of such a milestone, Moment In The Dark EP acts as a precursor, featuring two of the album’s original tracks, Moment and Diamond In The Dark reworked and remixed by Keinemusik resident Adam Port, rising newcomer Tibi Dabo and Dutch talent Satori. The EP begins with the original tracks. Two equally slow-burning, emotion-filled cuts. Moment is an epic, gently unfolding piece, whilst Diamond In The Dark showcases a soul-infused, folk-rock sensibility. Keinemusik stalwart Adam Port provides a winding journey in his remix of Moment, that drifts between safari-like melodies and touching beautiful vocals. Rising newcomer Tibi Dabo offers an ethereal re-work of Diamond In The Dark, one that features a slick, minimal bassline coupled alongside pulses of fantasy-like vocals, before Dutch talent Satori rounds off the release with a moving cut that features soft keys and wholesome, warming pads.

Release Info:
Get Physical Music family members Karol XVII & MB Valence unveil their stunning new album, ‘Essay’, in February 2022. Following well-received teaser singles, the full album is a storytelling trip through many shades of heartfelt house.
Polish pair Karol XVII & MB Valence have been a key part of the global dance scene for more than a decade. In that time, they have established their own Loco Records, been nominated as Best Deep House Artists at the Beatport Music Awards and have continued to push the genre forwards. Drawing on their backgrounds as composers and sound engineers, the duo has put out plenty of singles on Get Physical and contributed to 2020's 'Retrospective,' but ‘Essay’ is their boldest artistic statement to date.
The lovely atmosphere of 'Old Memories' opens the album with dreamy ambience and soothing breakbeats before 'Aqua' sinks you into a vast and pillowy deep house groove. It's a gorgeous track detailed with delicate synths. The lead single 'Whispers' is another stylish and seductive track featuring Johannesburg native and vocalist Lazarusman, before Jono McCleery features on 'Fool's Gold,' a richly melodic and harmonic lullaby with vulnerable vocals.
Real late night tension defines 'Echoes & The Beauty' (Jackspeare Interpretation) with its frazzled synths and mysterious rolling beats, while 'Disharmony' is characterised by uneasy, unsettling synth motifs that loop over more cavernous deep house drums. The fascinating album continues through the absorbing dub house and delicate pads of 'Waterfall Drops.' Another Jackspeare Interpretation, this time of 'Sonus,' makes for perfectly meditative and melancholic listening, and 'Bang Bang' then layers soft shakers over big rubbery kicks while a sensuous vocal hangs in the air. The stunning 'Jackspeare Theme' is nearly four minutes of suspensory cosmic ambiance and the album then plays out with the organic broken beats of 'Digisong,' electro-tinged future soul of 'Universum' (Jackspeare Original Interpretation), and pensive synth craft of sublime closer 'Humanity.'
‘Essay’ is the sumptuous sound of two producers at their very best.

Infotext
India. An ancient land of abundant spices, colourful languages, vibrant cultures, infinite beliefs & ever-shifting terrains. This 5000-year-old society was one of the earliest in the world to philosophise & document the natural relationship between music & human spirituality. And through the decades of the recent past, modern India has been interestingly unique (and highly accommodative) to contemporary & global electronic dance music. This, in turn, has developed into fertile soil for local DJs and producers, to thrive & bloom across the motherland. From India's capital (New Delhi) to its major cities (Mumbai, Calcutta, Bangalore) & emerging cities (Hyderabad, Pune, Pondicherry) - all shades of contemporary house and techno are now being accepted as the popular pulse for their nights. It's fascinating how this fairly recent 'western' phenomenon has now deeply woven itself into India's 'eastern' culture & rich musical tapestry.
But then again, electronic music could never be 'claimed' by any particular country or continent. Since time immemorial, its spirit & appeal has transcended all lands & their boundaries. Each new track release in the physical world is a soulful expression in the spirit realm - blooming out from the hidden recesses of highly talented music producers. They are true 'artists' - buried waist deep in their art & craft - on laptops & studios scattered all across planet Earth. When you are enjoying mega festivals with your special gang of friends or while listening to your favourite podcast on your daily commute to work - music lovers simply need to close their eyes to quickly immerse in their personal moment with the artist's latest creation & offering. This simple act enables everybody to engage with music at the moment; giving him/her a rare opportunity to glimpse into the creator's mind. And sometimes, the artist touches your soul. These strongly personal & highly enriching experiences compel listeners to seek exciting music makers. With opened eyes, minds & hearts, they bar all sorts of 'real-world' prejudice.
Through the past 16 years, supporters & followers of Get Physical have had this innate sensibility - which collectively eclipses geographical, ideological & musical boundaries. Acknowledging this special spirit of music discovery, the label's country-specific compilations aim to expose the featured country's local heroes to its loyal family of global music enthusiasts. India Gets Physical is another endeavour by the label to present the next breed of contemporary Indian electronic music & artists, to dance music aficionados across Europe and rest of the world. They are pacing its release by launching two singles - including exclusive remixes - as precursors to the compilation. Going beyond their release commitments, Get Physical also proactively aims to explore & discover the Indian scene and extend their support locally. They aim to achieve this (post-release) by planning a full-fledged label tour across the subcontinent.
All the Indian artists on this compilation have been brought together by the mysterious Todh Teri (who also happens to be the mastermind behind the mix). An ardent revivalist of Indian cinema's rich disco & cabaret music legacy, Todh Teri's live sets blend these sensibilities with the funk, house & acid influences of being a Berliner. When asked about India Gets Physical, he says "The artists & music I've put together for this project are predominantly electronic, but with just a pinch of India in it. Clearly steering away from all probable cliches - all of these tracks sound very international but with just a hint of an Indian tone, scale or sound. It is our lil' nod to the motherland. With this compilation, Get Physical & I are pleased to present to you our process of finding & exposing more music producers from India - hopefully getting them the attention they truly deserve."

Short info:
Get Physical Presents: Cocada is a brand new compilation put together in cooperation with the
Brazil Music Conference, and is compiled and mixed by local and long time star Leo Janeiro. All
bar one of the 14 tracks is exclusive, and all come from exciting Brazilian talents, making for a great
window into the scene.
'Cocada' is a word that evokes strong childhood memories for all Brazilians. It is a delicious coconut
sweet which, says the label, "is a little surprise in the middle of an ordinary day that makes you
appreciate all the good things of Brazil." As such, it is a perfect name for this selection which features
tracks from big and emerging names alike.
"Under the name Cocada we'll be launching music and organizing workshops and parties, in order
to bring greater visibility to the electronic music being produced in Brazil and throughout Latin
America", says Get Physical's managing director Roland Leesker.
"Our desire is to create an international platform both for emerging underground producers and
well-known artists," A&R manager Matt Plessis adds. "Cocada is very sweet and we want to give
the world an opportunity to taste some of those powerful delights that have been produced in Brazil,".
Among the album's more established producers is HNQO, who runs the Playperview label and has
released on Hot Creations. His track 'Sorrow' is a moody cut with a shapeshifting lead synth that
brings a zoned out feel. Another big hitter is Renato Ratier, the owner of celebrated Brazilian clubs
D Edge and Warung, resident at the former and globe trotting DJ who has put out a couple of well
received albums. His 'Snapshots' is a track with brilliantly rumbling bass and starry night skies as
well as dubby chords that get you on your toes.
First out of the blocks is Hauy with the superbly languid and elastic deep house of 'Redpath' featuring
gently undulating synths and rolling drums. The man behind the mix then serves up 'Blaze'
with Mumbaata, and it's a tight, upright bit of melodic house with loose drums that reflect Brazil's
rich musical heritage.
Well-crafted melodic vibes are the backbone of this collection, with the likes of Lacozta, Albuquerque's
remix of 'Hierbas' and Andre Salata & Mumbaata's 'BR-116' all offering nicely atmospheric,
warm house grooves with big, sweeping melodies and poised chords that add plenty of colour and
majesty to the music. Bruce Leroys picks up the pace with his more edgy and driving tech cut 'Rev
Is Out' and things get all trippy and spaced out on the hypnotic 'Raizes' by Nuno Deconto.
This is a compelling selection of tracks that show that Brazil is a real hot bed of talent going into
2018, and Get Physical knows exactly where to find it.

Modeselektor should require very little introduction. The Berlin-based duo of Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary have destroyed so many dancefloors around the world that their reputation precedes them and, as producers too, their stature has grown and grown. They've released two critically-acclaimed albums - Hello Mom! and Happy Birthday! - and collaborated with the likes of Thom Yorke and Paul St Hilaire.
Most recently they worked with Apparat on the much talked-about Moderat project: a collision of futuristic beat-styles, moody synth-textures and vocals, which has won them a whole load of new fans and seen them tour the globe with a truly mind-melting, chest-thumping audio-visual live show.
Somehow or other, Modeselektor still find time to be among the best, most reliable party-smashing DJs on the planet. Their contribution to Get Physical's Body Language mix series is a riotous, bass-heavy affair, one which takes in all kinds of interesting developments in cutting edge contemporary dance music.
MDSLKTR draw a natural line from the fizzing aqua-crunk of Rustie's 'Zig-Zag' to the R&B bump of Missy Elliott's Timbaland-produced 'Lick Shots', from the skippy 90s techno of G-Man's 'Quo Vadis' to the tough Berghain minimalism of Norman Nodge.
Dubstep - a big influence on the Moderat project - plays a pivotal role in the mix: moody, synth-led masterpieces by Peverelist and Benga recall classic Detroit techno, while Untold's devastating 'Anaconda' is sheer dancefloor energy. Scuba's 'Klinik' isn't so much dubstep as broken, reductionist house music.
Throughout the mix, Gernot and Sebastian astound with their ability to bring apparently disparate tunes together into perfect synchrony: who else would have thought to marry the edgy 2-step of Horsepower Productions to the austere 4/4 pulse of vintage Robert Hood, and on into the crunching digital dancehall of Major Lazer? Sometimes the links that Modeselektor forge are less bizarre but no less effective: Joker & Rustie's wonky standard 'Play Doe' is a natural companion to Busta Rhymes' 'Gimme Some More' and the low-slung strip-club thump of Mark Pritchard & Om'mas Keith's 'Wind It Up'.
There's still room for surprises though: the mix's closing chapter is heralded by a cheeky blast of what is perhaps the pop song of 2009, Animal Collective's effervescent 'My Girls'. We're left with 'A New Error', probably the most haunting and memorable tune from Moderat's recent album, and a fine finale to this stupendous, genre-hopping mix.
The uncompromising, big-hearted Body Language Vol.8 is the most refreshing and outrageously banging mix you'll hear all year, a stellar addition to a series which has seen previous contributions from the likes of M.A.N.D.Y., DJ T., Matthew Dear and Junior Boys. It's the very opposite of boring. Hell, it might just be the party album of the year…
