We are proud to present ‘Into The Great Wide Yonder’, the second album of Anders Trentemøller and the follow up of the highly succesful ‘The Last Resort’ (2006). Just like his debut, which struck a chord with new audiences all around the world, ‘Into The Great Wide Yonder’ is a truly remarkable album, offering as much depth and soul as it’s predecessor, yet sounding ultimately fresh and different. Above all, the ten tracks show an artist that’s willing to take risks, find in- spiration in new places and move beyond the sound of his previous album. Trentemøller: ‘Of course I didn’t want to make the same record twice. So the album is for me a logic development from ’The Last Resort’’. Instead he just started to collect new ideas, without thinking too much about the direction the music would take him: ‘The only thing I knew was that I’d want the music to sound more organic and analog.’ Compared to the intimate electronic mood pieces of ‘The Last Resort’, the ten tracks on the new album indeed have a more strange, mystic and dramatic vibe, with a lot of dynamics, distorted, driving twang- guitars, real and electronic drums mixed with haunting synths. With ‚Into The Great Wide Yonder‘ Trentemøller is not only exploring new moody and atmospheric universes, but combines his sense for glorious soundscapes with a firm melodic and tonal touch. The original chord progressions and feel for melodies is fundamental to him, and that‘s also the reason why most of the instruments are played by Trentemøller himself on this album. ‚I like the possibility to be surprised that chords and melodies change into something new. The music that I like most lets the themes and sounds come back in different disguises‘. The Danish multi instrumentalist and producer shows an unexpected talent for finding vocalists that fit the mood of his songs. The first single of the album, the beautifully tender ‘Sycamore Feeling’, featuring Marie Fisker, is a typical highlight. In fact, all the vocal tracks are stunning. Trentemøller chose to collaborate with the English artist Fyfe Dangerfield from UK based Guillemots and Danish singers Solveig Sandnes and Josephine Philip from the debuting Danish indie girlduo Darkness Falls. They all manage to add their own sound and flavour to the album, while their voices blend perfectly with Trentemøller’s atmospheric songs. This is an album that keeps growing for a long time, as every track works its way stealthily under your skin. The sound of ‘Into The Great Wide Yonder’ might be one step ahead of his previous work, but we still easily recognize the hand of Trentemøller, in this inspired collection of songs and atmospheres. The sonic richness, sharp contrasts and daring musical colours are vintage Trentemøller. Into The Great Wide Yonder’ might demand more from the listener than ‘The Last Resort’, as it ended up being quite a dramatic album. confluence of inspiration, coincidence, and maybe even a little bit of the supernatural.
A recent, unanticipated drop of four songs, in the form of two singles (No One Quite Like You, and Golden Sun), might leave one surprised to find that a full album's worth of material was also waiting in the wings.
As with most Trentemøller releases, it's a body of songs that are thematically linked by many melodic threads.

The first single from the upcoming album, 'In The Gloaming', which is released in September 2021, implies the arc of the album might have actually begun late in the day, giving the sensation of waking in the evening. Nocturne's dawning. Stars emerge in the form of percussive arpeggios.

2019's Trentemøller album 'Obverse' was an exercise in what could be done if the prospect of performing the songs onstage wasn't a factor. It opened up some doors, and signaled a new chapter. Memoria, even considering its resplendence, almost feels like it demands to be presented live as well.

Trentemøller returns with his fifth studio album 'Obverse' in September 2019! Anders Trentemøller is a well-known multi-instrumentalist, but perhaps the one he's most adept at is the studio itself. 'Obverse' is the result of him expanding that skill even further. 'Obverse' often feels like an instrumental album because it started life as one, the driving philosophy being "what if the pressure of having to perform these songs live is removed entirely?" Granting yourself the freedom to chase down every idea a studio offers comes with privileges. What happens when you reverse a synth part mid-verse? Why not send an entire track through a faulty distortion pedal? Inspiration reveals itself in a variety of forms and, before long, a simple chord progression contorts into something entirely new. It's a work method that yielded great results for the legendary German Kosmiche/Motorik experimentalists of the 1970's. Intentional or not, 'Obverse' embodies more than a little of that spirit without even a hint of pastiche.
So it only makes sense that 'Obverse' would stray from its original roadmap. In due time, half of the nascent compositions featured singers, including Lina Tullgren, Lisbet Fritze, and jennylee, of Warpaint, another band deeply influenced by dream pop. While 'Obverse' was born from a different work ethic than previous efforts, it also continues an arc that started in 2006. Each successive effort has represented a logical next step beyond the album before, and 'Obverse' absolutely picks up where Fixion left off.
For the past decade Trentemøller has been perfecting this form of sonic chiaroscuro to conjure up images of severe landscapes, and to mirror the Scandinavian climate, where half the year the sun barely sets, and the other it barely tops the horizon. While there has been a film noir element in his previous work, 'Obverse' is the first time each song has felt like a collection of pocket soundtracks.
By fusing together a love of dream pop, dark synth-based music, film scores, and a deep connection with the stark Nordic panoramas, Anders has created an inimitable language. Ultimately 'Obverse' resides in a genre all its own.

Trentemøller's debut album remains one of the few genre-defining and groundbreaking
albums in many regards. It's still being praised for its composition and sounddesign alike and sounds as fresh and breathtaking today as it did when it was originally released in 2006.
The Last Resort - a beautifully crafted, astonishing masterpiece, that will leave you breathless. The 13
instrumental tracks together form a wordless musical story, almost like the soundtrack of a movie. It
manages to capture a whole range of emotions in subtle melodic miniatures, dreamy ambiences, dusty beats, deep dub-tracks and driving groove-excursions. An ever-changing kaleidoscope of colours and moods. Although it's an electronic album, it also incorporates live-drums, guitars, bass and other acoustic instruments like celesta, glockenspiel, melodica and even DJ scratching to create a more organic feel. The album received fantastic acclaim from both music fans and journalists around the world and made it into the top-lists of the month, the year, the decade - alongside an array of awards for best production or best album.
Back in 2006, the original pressing only included a selection of songs from the original 13-track album release. It missed out on songs which had been released on singles or didn't "fit" on the so called "vinyl edition". Due to 'public demand' and simply because this album deserves a proper vinyl
release we are happy to finally present, for the first time, the full album on vinyl. It spans of three vinyl discs and is packed in a beautiful gatefold sleeve which also holds a download-code. The recut has been carefully crafted from first generation, orignal masters by Calyx in Berlin. Since the album has been praised for its fantastic sound the primary directive was to cut the lacquers for the re-issue so that they would sound exactly the same as the original release, which has been the CD version of the album. No 'digital remastering' or any other alterations have been applied.

An undisputed classic of the electronic music scene, Steve Bug's 'Loverboy' was released on the first Poker Flat release ever ' Double Action' back in 1999.
Over the years it has been reworked only by a few - but the list includes the likes of Josh Wink and Guido Schneider. Now, as part of the 20 years of Poker Flat celebration, more names are added to that remix list with two new superb remixes from Catz 'n Dogz and Acid Pauli.
Catz 'n Dogz are a Polish producer duo making big waves in recent years, and their version of 'Loverboy' brims with their unmistakable energy - chugging, hypnotic groove and tons of effects and melodic twists and turns. Berlin legend Acid Pauli approaches it from a different angle - stripping away elements until a deeply trippy skeletal house track remains.

Dreamteam pairing of Defaultman and Sapurra collaborate on this highly impressive 3 tracker for Poker Flat Wax. Pavel Iudin is back on Poker Flat Wax with a new the killer four-track EP pressed on green and white splattered vinyl. Inspired by an industrial, technoid vibe reminiscent of Iudin growing up in a city surround by metallurgical industry, the title track 'Framework' is a slinky, crafty burner, built around an irresistible groove. Iudin keeps the extras to a minimum, letting the balance of a few key elements become the track's strength. 'Echelon' works around a tightly woven drum sample before opening up with some beautiful Access Virus synth effects. 'Dummy' is an exercise in restrained deepness - the track has a submerged quality that could work on many dance floors. Last up is 'Automotive' - another groove driven cut that uses a minimum of elements without ever feeling minimal - sign of a producer fully in control of his craft. "Automotive', says Iudin "is in contrast with my other records. I used sounds that are not typical for myself and they led me to something new. Perhaps this is a continuation of my previous track Dubrawa. I was also inspired by the idea of the raw and dubby Wax Only series, using simple patterns and sounds."

Eva Be has been a key figure on the development of Berlin underground club culture, going back to the 90s and her involvement with the Sonar Kollektiv crew that included the likes of Dixon, Ame and Jazzanova, to name a few. A highly talented producer and DJ, this EP on Poker Flat Wax showcases her skillful mastery of house music.

'Delight' kicks things off on the A side, a low slung groove wirth Chicago-esque percussion that pops out of the speakers. Some of Eva's love for dub and reggae is also present - vocals and chord stabs echo and shimmer across the track.

'Breathe' is a little more floor focussed - a hard knocking kick starts this off and the track develops into one of those deep, emotional and driving tracks that get dancefloors into a serious states of ecstasy.

Flip the wax and 'Pills' is the third offering for this release - precise-yet-wonky drums, breakbeats, deep pads and synth lines that gel together into a perfect, hedonistic whole.

Poker Flat Recordings drop a new four track EP from Greek Techno / House producer Thanasis Voulgaris. Under his Kindimmer moniker, Voulgaris has been putting out quality dancefloor music since 2010, including a handful of releases already for Steve Bug's iconic Poker Flat label.

'Merge', the title track sets the tone with a killer, propulsive rhythm, adding chopped up organ stabs and shuffling funky percussion. 'Swift Changes' has a similar deft touch, all slinky chords that bring about thoughts of the classic Detroit sound, while adding his own signature take. 'It's Coming' is a little harder, with a booming kick and tricky hats, before opening up into another deep bomb that will keep the more discerning floors in raptures.
'Ride With Me' flexes its funk - the groove jacks a little harder and the vibe is definitely ready to make the basements sweat.

Trentemøller's debut album remains one of the few genre-defining and groundbreaking
albums in many regards. It's still being praised for its composition and sounddesign alike and sounds as fresh and breathtaking today as it did when it was originally released in 2006.
The Last Resort - a beautifully crafted, astonishing masterpiece, that will leave you breathless. The 13
instrumental tracks together form a wordless musical story, almost like the soundtrack of a movie. It
manages to capture a whole range of emotions in subtle melodic miniatures, dreamy ambiences, dusty beats, deep dub-tracks and driving groove-excursions. An ever-changing kaleidoscope of colours and moods. Although it's an electronic album, it also incorporates live-drums, guitars, bass and other acoustic instruments like celesta, glockenspiel, melodica and even DJ scratching to create a more organic feel. The album received fantastic acclaim from both music fans and journalists around the world and made it into the top-lists of the month, the year, the decade - alongside an array of awards for best production or best album.
Back in 2006, the original pressing only included a selection of songs from the original 13-track album release. It missed out on songs which had been released on singles or didn't "fit" on the so called "vinyl edition". Due to 'public demand' and simply because this album deserves a proper vinyl
release we are happy to finally present, for the first time, the full album on vinyl. It spans of three vinyl discs and is packed in a beautiful gatefold sleeve which also holds a download-code. The recut has been carefully crafted from first generation, orignal masters by Calyx in Berlin. Since the album has been praised for its fantastic sound the primary directive was to cut the lacquers for the re-issue so that they would sound exactly the same as the original release, which has been the CD version of the album. No 'digital remastering' or any other alterations have been applied.
All 13 songs of the classic album on one vinyl release for the first time. Triple-Vinyl edition. Gatefold sleeve. download code. original sound-quality. NO digital remastering.

Poker Flat label boss and genuine dance music legend Steve Bug teams up with Langenberg for this excellent two track EP.
Langenberg has released an unfathomable number of dancefloor fillers under various monikers on labels such as Drumpoet Community, Mule, Ovum or Styrax Leaves - and recently released his debut album "Central Heated House" on Dessous. Langenberg is also one half of the project Ribn.
'Chord Cluster' has summer anthem written all over - deep yet euphoric, spacy yet danceable, and ultimately a deeply emotive piece of house music that will bring smiles to faces all year. The rhythm track is tight yet remains loose and funky, while the pads and synths dip into just the right amount of acid to keep the ravers lost in the moment.
'The Teaze' treads similar ground - arpeggiated pulses lead the arrangement, while a Chicago-influenced groove brings a shuffle to proceedings - the joy in the track is evident - it's clear the guys were having a lot of fun in the studio.

She lends her skills to 'Never Go Back' a lush yet edgy deep bomb built around slinky groove shot through with Vincenzo's trademark drama and tension. Cari brings the track to the next level with her vocals - both seductive and cautionary.
Smash TV (Holger Zilske and Kai Preussner) bring a sick remix to the table with their version - heading to deeper territory and seemingly primed for the after hours vibe.

Pavel ludin returns to Poker Flat Wax with a gripping four-tracker showcasing his myriad of talents. Born and raised in Eastern Siberia, Pavel Iudin found his way to the underground scenes of Moscow and Saint Petersburg where he firmly established his credentials. The Probe EP finds him at the height of his powers, serving up some serious burners. 'Probe 2' is a throbbing, deep roller with shimmering synths and a shuffling, evolving groove - one for keeping the floor on lock whatever the situation.
'Halo' has more classic feel to it, clearly a nod to the Chicago masters of the 90s, but maintaining a tough and fresh feel that is all ludin's own. Half way though, things really open up into thick, swingy vibe via a killer bassline and snappy percussion.
'Probe 3' is more acidic outing - although never resorting to the iconic 303, the track is a lysergic journey into dubbed out tech-house.
Closing out the EP is 'Groundlevel' - a driving, loopy groover that uses ludin's feel for atmosphere and tension to the max. The whole EP exudes a steely-eyed mastery of the studio and the dance floor - making Pavel Iudin one to watch over the next months.

Cologne's electronic music community keeps on giving, drawing on a dense plethora of fresh talent ready to shake up our little big grassroots industry. The latest ace up the city's sleeve must be Tim Engelhardt, part of a new breed of incredibly versatile young producers that get their cues from all sorts of genres and listening situations, combining profound musical knowledge with intuitive playfulness and multiple perspectives on sound. In Tim's case, we're dealing with a solid pianist background - which becomes rather obvious in the great care he takes over harmonies and an expanded melodic structure. However, that's just one side of the story, as the organic fluidity and atmospheric dexterity of his music most certainly hark back to an upbringing among the rolling hills and sprawling forests of Germany's Westerwald - one of the country's best known mountain ranges that has already inspired artists such as Dominik Eulberg or Gabriel Ananda.

Having released your first recordings at the tender age of 14 - as Tim did in 2012 - might put you in a "wunderkind" category - a flattering, but ultimately risky proposition, finding many a prodigy overwhelmed with the dubious honour. Not so much our hero, who chose to put his skills to work: in only four years, he grew his portfolio with plenty outings on labels such as Traum Schallplatten, WIR, Babiczstyle, Amuse Gueule, Ostwind Records, Popart Music, Playmusic Productions, Parquet Recordings, Manual Music and more - but his breakthrough release was hands-down the 2015 EP "Everything Is All You Have" on Steve Bug's iconic Poker Flat imprint, followed by "Enigmatism" on the same label. Something definitely clicked, as Poker Flat Recordings now proudly presents Tim's debut album "Moments Of Truth", the first full-length survey of his sonic savvy and a terrific listening experience to boot, which will find its connoisseurs in both the club and at home.

Mihai Popoviciu has carved out a reputation for being one of the most innovative producers of electronic music active in Europe today. The man from Romania has established himself both as a highly respected producer - releasing on labels such as Highgrade, International Gigolo and Dessous - and as a killer DJ performing all over the world. 'Fiction' is his 4th release on Poker Flat Recordings, and delivers four distinct flavours to sink your teeth into.
'I Should' is a slinky groover, with a slippery, evolving bassline, tight, funky percussion and a sultry female vocal. Working just as effectively early in a set as a peak time moment, it's bound to get rinsed in the coming months.
'Twisted' is a little harder - a straighter beat signals a more heads down approach, and the bassline is sure to trigger some dancefloor scenes wherever it gets played.
Next up is title track 'Fiction' which perhaps makes a reference to Mihai's background, with fragments of Eastern European melodies woven into the beautiful synth work, all tied together over a spacey yet driving rhythm track.
Last but by no means least is 'Interconnected' - a straight up deep bomb with echoes of classic Chicago deep and acidic house in its warm and sensual vibe.

Kings of Tomorrow's place in electronic music history is well assured. One of the alias' for New York legend Sandy Rivera, K.O.T. helped define the early 90's New York house sound with a series of key releases that climaxed in 2001 with the global smash 'Finally' - truly one of the house music classics. Happily, Sandy Rivera is still making killer, soulful house music and this latest release on Poker Flat Recordings continues to showcase his immeasurable talent for groove.
'Kaoz' is a bumping, attitude-full jam rich with thick, punchy drums and a driving synth pulse - topped off with a stunning spoken word vocal from Divine Essence. 'Kaoz Dub' does a lot more than strip the track of its main vocal elements - the groove is rebuilt as an edgy, tension-filled underground house banger - breaking down into a devastating bass section.
Dario D'Attis - the Swiss born DJ and producer who's also known as The Funk Ensemble - delivers a fine remix that perhaps draws on some the 90's influence that K.O.T. defined, producing a bumping, building epic track that seems destined for heavy rotation amongst those in the know.

James Dexter has been incredibly prolific over the last few years, with numerous taste-making labels show-casing his ear for refined, dynamic house music.

Voices is a deep bomb - a shuffling, kinetic rhythm with oceans of space for subtle melodic elements and textures. Spread out over eight and a half minutes, this is one to get lost to.
Point Blank's deep pads and detuned kick drum reference Detroit's classic house sound, the raw drums and vocal snippets adding a truly basement vibe. Teaming up with party starters youANDme as well as vocalist Black Soda, the title track of this release explores deep vibrations, merging 303 basslines, crisp 909 programming and a highly effective vocal. The Dub Tool reworks the vocals into a more spacey arrangement, adding atmosphere for DJs who like to keep their sets stripped back and trippy. The Hyenah remix flips the script and develops a deep afro-house inspired cut - the man from the Caymen Islands developing an irresistible groove stretched out over seven and a half minutes. Here on their first outing for Poker Flat Recordings, the duo cook up four courses of lean, focussed tech-house for Steve Bug's seminal imprint.
'Detuned' starts the journey - an edgy, tense groove exhibiting the boy's masterful sound design and use of space to create a thick, intoxicated atmosphere.
'I'm Rude' is more direct - a thumping bass drum introduces a low slung bass groove, slowly evolving and mutating into a true party-starter.
'Worthy' uses similar building blocks but delivers a different vibe altogether, revelling in a minimalist production aesthetic and cheeky bass riff.
'Ran Baran', the title track, is another lesson in great production - each element perfectly balanced to create an atmosphere of controlled mayhem - which is exactly the response this entire EP aims to instigate on dancefloors.

Mennie hails from Italy, and had fast been gaining a serious reputation on the underground, both as a resident at Club 999 in his home country and as a talented up and coming producer. Teaming up here with the Frenchman Julien Sandre, this is an international project that will hit home with DJs and house lovers globally.
The Night Riots EP kicks off with 'Partitions', which sees the boys in sparkling form - twisting and teasing a sick groove out of fairly simple sources.
'Darth J' follows a similar path - the devil is in the detail, and Mennie and Sandre get down to some serious beat science, punctuated with some subtle chords and vocal stabs in the process.
'In A Pixel World' reveals the pair's love of classic Chicago vibes distilled though French Touch, bringing in a super funky groove
filtered though various effects and processes, and paying homage to the timeless sounds of early Daft Punk.

Since his last full-length, Ode, Tin Man, AKA Johannes Auvinen, has taken a collaborative approach to acid, bringing his 303 box into studio scenarios with Cassegrain, John Tejada, AAAA and Gunnar Haslam in order to explore new territory. On the title track, Tin Man's acrobatic 303 no longer has to do the melodic heavy lifting-the Mancunians provide a sturdy yet plaintive piano base that allows a duet of acid lines to cut through the heady atmosphere. Interdimensional Transmissions boss Erika toughens things up considerably with her "Fate's Unknown" remix, stripping things back to a creepy, jacking core. "Pendle By Night" underlines the ad hoc trio's propensity for widescreen heft. The track's epic, emotional tone feels like a natural product of the collaboration.

To speak to Luca Daniel Schwarz aka LDS about his music is to be enthusiastically guided into a complex world of his own creation: clean and powerful techno which pulses with life from the textured patterns and drum sequences
that have fills and accents that would make anyone who’s picked up a set of drumsticks envious. Yet this ecosystem of noise is deceptive; Schwarz’s process for making music is very different to how a live drummer would create the same subtlety of performance. Forever researching new technology, Luca got deeply interested in different programming languages, and created a series of probability-based music tools for manoeuvring sounds and sequencing.
Manipulating those probabilities takes a skilful alchemy, needing understanding of both musical structure and how the tools he devised work. To return to the drummer analogy, if the drummer is focussed and intentional in the
moment of playing, then the method used in LDS tracks is almost diametrically opposed, with all of the intention coming in the assembly of the instruments, potential paths, and gateways; once play is pressed the music flows,
following all the rules that were set in advance, not unlike a domino run or Rube Goldberg machine. And like a domino run, the results are fascinating and, ultimately, fun: staccato vocals pop in and out in ‘zipp
prompt’; laser-like synths pulse; background noises sweep across the aural plane of the dub techno of ‘diff, blockmix’ and ‘pow’ adding texture that brings vitality all-too-easily missed out when complex mathematical
processes become entwined with music creation. The high sensitivity to texture and rhythmic detail in Stadion Progg is multiplied further on Jean Redondo's remix - whose track, Hypersonic, was the backbone of 2023’s ‘yet’
compilation on Tresor.
The balance between technology and a sense of fun might also come from the maker; it’s not easy to overstate Schwarz’s passion for what is now his favourite way to make music, “it never gets boring. There’s always a moment
of anticipation to see what actually emerges.” And the true “power of 2” comes into play when the resulting music can be fed back through the system again and again, potentiating the music in exponential ways.

Our resident JESSAMINE is making the serve and releases his first artist EP on our in-house label.

With its rough bassline and arpeggio, the title track flutes clearly focuses on the dance floor, moreover, it is not too fine for an emotional break either. dérive-the second track on the A-side-is a much more twisted, darker and trippier one, more suitable for the later hours on the lobby and similar intimate dancefloors.

As long-time friends of the club, MAP.ACHE and KASSEM MOSSE contributed fantastic remixes. While KASSEM MOSSES's stille floeten remix comes along a little more stoic and therefore all the more hypnotic, MAP.ACHE's interpretation of flutes is uplifting and a catchy tune as described in the books.

OUT OF PLACE ARTEFACTS, the collaboration alchemizing the sounds of german producers Rødhåd and .VRIL, embarks on a new sonic exploration with “II” on Rødhåd’s label WSNWG.

This second longplayer ventures significantly deeper into the spheres of electronic music - exploring a wide range of abysmal drums and breaks as well as focusing on flickering sound sketches and elusive noises whose origin will have to remain a mystery for the listener. It aims to leave them in inexplicable realms between the dance floor and deep listening, unfolding its magnetism beyond genre definitions.

Throughout the listening experience, one is exposed to bewildering surprises such as traces of lightheartedness and stronger use of samples, vocals and strings. “Universian” invites a softer tone, revealing a more seductive, gloomier and poppier facette of the duo.

The closing track “Triskaideka” concludes the journey by featuring classical musicians Angelina Delgado (Violin) and Alexandra Ivanova (Viola).

OUT OF PLACE ARTEFACTS considerably developed the rapport between both artists' contributions for this LP- merging them into a more harmonious, yet very distinct expression. Each of the 13 tracks showcases layered, intricate arrangements so that they become their own microcosms, forming a radiant universe as a whole album.

MARTHIAL joins NECHTO with ‘NECH029’, a four-track vinyl release blending tradition and futurism. Born Alessandro Vaccari, MARTHIAL is a DJ, producer, and founder of Milan’s independent cultural hub, the Tempio del Futuro Perduto. A DJ, producer and significant figure in contemporary electronic music, Marcel Dettmann steps forward to contribute to Running Back’s ongoing Mastermix series. Whereas previous editions of Mastermix have taken an ear to the sound of lapsed, legendary clubs such as Wild Pitch and Front, Dettmann’s curation deftly captures the man himself in ongoing perpetual motion, raiding the vault for his own precision-tooled edits, long-employed on dancefloors to devastating effect. Alongside a continuous mix, this release arrives as a 3LP gatefold, and as a limited edition cassette.

Closely associated with Berlin’s techno landscape, Dettmann was born and raised in the former GDR, then later immersed in the bleary-eyed counter cultural landscape of post-unification Berlin. Initially oriented by post-punk, industrial and new-wave music, Dettmann has been DJing since 1993, always expanding and perfecting his repertoire. He later began working behind the counter at the city’s tastemaking rave boutique Hard Wax, and a decade after he first dropped a needle, became (and remains) resident at notable local nightspot Berghain/Panorama Bar, where his instincts have helped sculpt the signature sound of both main dancefloors.

Of course, you’re probably not asking, “Who is Marcel Dettmann?” More importantly, you might want to know; just what treats has he gifted us here? The trip begins with a simple pitch-shift skywards, transforming Identified Patient’s creeping ‘The Female Medical College of Pennsylvania’ into a peak-time freakout, before an alternate take on Toctronic’s ‘Bis uns das Licht vertreibt’ emerges from the vaults for the first time. Dating from 1995, and one of Dettmann’s all-time favourites, Cristian Vogel’s ‘Untitled’ clambers back into the box with respectable cuts, while John Bender’s ‘Victims of A Victimless Crime’ kicks off the flip sporting a new arrangement, transporting us back to the foundations of a confident, stripped-back sound.

A few subtle edits to Clark’s perilously funky ‘Dirty Pixie’ takes us to Dettmann’s remix of Junior Boys. Produced in 2010, it transposes the Canadian duo’s sophisticated pop with our curator in his minimal prime, and has since become an irresistible prize for high-minded diggers. The same can be said for Experimental Products’ explosive proto-electro anthem ‘Who Is Kip Jones?’, empowered from pricey Discogs purgatory with just the slightest of tweaks. It’s deservedly sandwiched between the guiding influences of Chicago and Detroit in the form of Mutant Beat Dance’s raw ‘The Human Factor’ and a shimmering new version of previous solo production ‘Water’, featuring close friend and Ostgut Ton ally, Ryan Elliot.

The second half of the Mastermix seamlessly connects the mechanical past and digital present of EBM and industrial in the dance, with Dettmann’s instincts as a guiding hand. Severed Heads’ iconic ‘We Have Come To Bless This House’ emerges with mere nips and tucks, while Nitzer Ebb’s ‘Shame’ is significantly reimagined as a highwire act of rhythm and tension, setting up a sensual second take on a 2017 remix of ‘Limbo’ from Swiss synth heroes, Yello.

Core musical memories are shaken and stirred with a context-shifting take on Frank Duval’s emotional classic ‘Ogon’, while Ian North’s ‘Sex Lust You’ and Ford Proco’s notable Coil collaboration ‘Expansion Naranja’ effectively throb with only minor adjustments, respectfully imagined as “shadow versions”. Meanwhile, a simple breakbeat lifts Albert Kuningas’s ‘Astraalprojektio’ in the direction of wide-eyed dancefloors, while a fresh take on K-Alexi Shelby’s ‘Season of The Real’ inexplicably emerges somehow even funkier than before.

The conclusion of the compilation leads back to Das Tier from the prolific experimentalist Conrad Schnitzler, whose swirling synths and hypnotic vocals are duly tightened by Dettmann, but only as he puts it, “in conversation with the original.” Concluding three discs and thirty years of commitment to the dancefloor, this Mastermix not only offers us the opportunity to eavesdrop on this endless exchange, but to gain some sought-after material for our own record collections.

Tresor Records is pleased to welcome Minimal Violence to the label, starting with the first chapter in a series of three records entitled DESTROY ---> [physical] REALITY [psychic] <--- TRUST to be released during the next 12 months. At the furthest edges of their idiosyncratic brand of ferocious hardware techno, this first EP, Phase One, reveals the Vancouver duo to be expertly out on a limb. Mirroring the explosive cut and thrust of their live sets, their recorded output extends a metaphysical rave.
Throughout, Ash Luk and Lida P cut their cinematic melodies into a clattering rave hole, unceasingly revising the gravitational pull in each direction. Ravebomb finds a route of no-nonsense with its unhinged endorphin rush of surging EBM style bass and rough-handed rhythms. It is followed up by an alternate version of Ravebomb, the Fire Mix, which casts its elements into a heady psychoactive cloud on a collision course with its kick drum.
Glimpses of a rhythmic waywardness coat Perfect Rendition, full of tape tics and wobble, with a push to 90s UK, beat experimentations and the pull of arching hookworms.
Closing out the EP is The Next Screen Is Death, with a dystopian 80s wave sound, where short snippets of sampled mush imbue disturbed synth stabs, while arpeggiated basses drive with momentum a feverous descent in tandem with trance-echoing melodies.

Marking the anniversary of three decades of career, Dopplereffekt debuts on Tresor Records with Metasymmetry, arriving 12 December 2025. This latest release finds members Rudolf Klorzeiger and To-Nhan in deep inquiry in sound, contemplating structure and pattern in physics and nature resulting in a harmonious audio tessellation.
Metasymmetry itself relates to a kind of second-order reality found not in the structures of life but in the rules that govern these structures; that order exists not only in things but in the relationships among systems of order. It is a structure of structures, a logic of laws, an abstract unity embedded in the act of transformation itself.
Accordingly, the four-track EP reflects this duality. Each side opens with a piece of electronic music at its most precise and immovable: defined, kinetic, architectural. This is followed by a second composition that dissolves into a weightless, atmospheric counter-form.
The shift evokes a higher symmetry: an alignment not of parts, but of principles; a sonic model of the universe’s hidden invariance.
Metasymmetry also echoes across Dopplereffekt’s extended sonic continuum; this stands as the first offering on Tresor under the Dopplereffekt name despite an association with the label and club going back to the start. In this, it becomes the source of an echo that reverberates backwards through time; its own reflection:
