Following the warm reception of the first two volumes in the "Leads & Bites" series, Ibadan Records is returning with a third volume to be released on vinyl in December, 2019.

The Leads & Bites series was launched in 2010 to address the growing appetite for a musically versatile, pumping house release among house music connoisseurs. Over the years, the action-packed series has seen the likes of Tyree Cooper, Earth People, Kerri Chandler, David Sumner and Christian Prommer contribute to the series. The previous volume, Leads & Bites Vol. 2 quickly became one of the label's most sought-after contemporary releases. The new edition welcomes Ibadan's longtime artist Argy and Ibadan's new generation torchbearer, Janne Tavi to the growing series.

A1. Whisper Track (Dub) sees Argy's prodigious return to the label in this collaboration with Sydenham, which features an energetic club sound with a hint of mystery and darkness.

A2. Purple Beech is a testament to Sydenham's love for deep house. This lighter version of a classic house track, based on dreamy aesthetics showcases the beauty and simplicity of deep house.

B1. Street Jazz is Tavi and Sydenham's flashy house offering, combining raw, smoky beats with Tavi's signature keys and exotic percussion for an elegant yet warm showstopper.

B2. Herb Martin - Soul Drums (Jerome Sydenham's Raw Dub) emerged when Sydenham delved into the historical catalogue and enriched this Afro percussive gem, giving it some fine polish and a harder edge in his updated edit.

Ibadan announces the release of a new remix by Dennis Quin of Kerri Chandler & Jerome Sydenham ft. Troy Denari - You're In My System on vinyl in December, 2019.

Quin, a self-professed house addict and die-hard Kerri Chandler fan since the early nineties, had been searching for a new vocalist to work with. He turned to Simon Birkumshaw, label manager and A&R of Chandler's Madhouse Records, who recommended Troy Denari, the original vocalist of the classic Ibadan track "You're In My System". When Denari revealed that had just resung the vocals, Quin was inspired to remix the track.

Quin's aim with this remix was to update the track for his sets and give it contemporary production values in line with his current digital sets. "It's always tricky to put your hands on a huge record like this," he says. "It's a legendary track that everyone knows, so I was extremely careful in terms of mixing, timing, and all the rest." The result is a modern version of the classic that is very true to the original. At the same time, Quin makes his mark by bringing his own drum and percussion into the mix.

The remix versions cover all the bases for various digital distribution formats, including atmospheric dub, club and instrumental mixes, plus a special three-minute edit for Spotify.

Working together for the first time, the members of the musical team were excited to exchange their ideas. "Troy, Kerri, Jerome and I have gained so much out this intense collaboration. It has developed into a deep friendship that is all about house music, good vibes and pride in our achievements. Each of us is fulfilled by our individual roles in this project. I'm really proud to be part of this family."

Christine Pedersen, managing director of Ibadan Records, is excited about Quin's first release on the label. "It's always a pleasure to welcome new and talented collaborators into the fold. And I love the new vocal. Troy's singing brings a fresh spin to the track."

Throughout Ibadan Records' deeply-rooted New York history and its ongoing transcendent surge into the future, there are certain special moments in House music history to acknowledge. This brings us to our 138th Ibadan Records installment by Kerri Chandler.

Kerri Chandler was one of the many artists who benefited from Jerome Sydenham's artistic direction. The two initially met in 1991, when Sydenham was a part of the A&R team that signed Chandler's debut single to Atlantic Records. After Sydenham founded Ibadan Records in 1995, the two collaborated on several groundbreaking projects that stand as a testament to House music history and to their long-lasting friendship.

Chandler's early career evolved through illustrious House remixes and productions. Tracks like Drink On Me, Shoe-B-Doo, While We're Young and Ain't That a Bitch truly exemplify the trailblazing and original innovative spirit of Kerri Chandler and the birth of his signature sound.
