Blake Baxter is undoubtedly Detroit techno royalty. His unique style and sound has always found fans around the world since his first releases back in the late 80's. We decided to reach out to Blake here at Mint Condition HQ and we were hugely under-prepared for the reply we'd get back from him. 'Master tapes?!' we said - 'Yes' said Blake. OK, who wouldn't wish to hear unreleased mixes and versions of some bonafide Detroit techno classics we thought? That's what you're going to get with Mint Condition number 12, some unheard, unreleased, straight from Blake Baxter's 4 track tape stash HEAT. As you're all aware, 1991's seminal 'Prince of techno' EP originally came out on Underground Resistance and we've been given exclusive permission to reissue the EP (almost) in it's entirety, the only difference being that this pressing doesn't include 'Vision of truth' and features unheard versions of the other tracks that appeared on that EP as well as the original, classic mix of 'When a thought becomes you'. Yes, Blake dug deep for us in his archive and we are proud to present this important document of classic Detroit techno, never before heard - until now. Exciting stuff! 'When A Thought Becomes You' has been legitimately re-released with the full involvement of all license holders for 2017 and remastered by London's Curve Pusher from the original sources especially for Mint Condition. 100% legit, licensed and released. KHT 008 is coming from no less than the man who is called The Prince of Techno' by his peers. And that is for a reason: Blake was part of the first wave of Detroit techno artists and dis and contributed to the techno movement from the mid 80s. Tracks like When a dream becomes U' or Our love' are milestones of electronic music, his style, which he calls Poetry and Rhythm' is distinctive. For Killekill House Trax he delivers the Acid Life EP which comes along with two strong, acid driven tracks, the A-side darker and more chicago-oriented with its rhythmical focus and the punchy kick, the B-side more Detroit-ish with its uplifting chords.

Let's rewind back to 1990 and the early beginnings of the techno scene, forthcoming techno legend Damon Wild's descends upon Brooklyn, New York. Upon arrival Damon forges an alliance with Frankie Bones and Adam. He joins the team at Groove and ran the mail order department for their recently opened ''Groove Records Shop''.
Quickly moving into music production, Damon presents a slew of releases under different aliases; building his name quickly on the still developing global techno circuit. Simultaneously, he activates the cult classic label ''Experimental Records'' which goes on to release many rising techno stars over the following years.

In 1994 Damon launches Synewave Records, this time with a focus on a freshly innovative, stripped down jacking-hypnotic techno. The label goes on to play a big and memorable part in techno history, influencing the many generations to come.

Fast forward to the present, Damon goes full circle to his beginnings with Sonic Groove (formerly the Groove Records Shop) and records a thought provocative, cutting edge album for his old friend and label owner Adam X.

Ancient Methods and Adam X step into the ring to battle it out on this latest Sonic Groove release Ancient Method's have developed a strong cult following in the hard techno scene over the past three years with a series of very original sounding 12"s releases on their own imprint of the same name. Producers Trias and Baeks are old school techno Berliner dj's who held residency at Tresor Club for well over 10 years. Adam X and Ancient Methods befriended each other in Berlin in 2008. The main commonality in forging a solid friendship between them was their passion not just for Techno but for the Rhythmic Noise side of the Industrial music scene. It would only make sense with mutual respect of each others music to record a release together.
