Following his previous releases on respected imprints such as Optimo Trax and last year’s remix of Romanthony’s ‘Give U Up’ on Glasgow Underground, Jasper introduces his own label with two of his most ID’d weapons over the last few months, ‘Crypto’ and ‘These Are The Beats’. The lead track ‘Crypto’ is a hypnotic builder showcasing a new, musical maturity expertly applied to his own productions. Digging deeper into the house and techno sounds he has been playing around the world since his early twenties, his heads down production sound is inspired by deeper moments on the dancefloor, whilst retaining the energy his own DJ sets are internationally renowned for. On the flip ‘These Are The Beats’ rolls out more hypnotic lead lines and drum machine rolls to further the themes established by Crypto, plunging the dancer into a deeper state of consciousness without forgetting the dancefloor energy needed to hold your attention in the early hours of the morning.

Play It Say It welcome Jasper James, one of the hottest artists of the day, for their next EP, calling upon Rob Mello to serve up some of his legendary No Ears remixes to seal the deal on this fine package. Glaswegian DJ/producer Jasper James has been on the scene for a number of years now. He has released on labels like Leftroom and Optimo Trax with his well-informed house sound joins the dots between the past, present and future, the original he offers here is another essential offering from the in-demand star. The brilliant, instantly party-starting ’Dirty Wrong’ is a dirty disco-house tune with a tightly coiled bass riff that rolls on and on. The percussion is loose and playful and more trilling guitar riffs all help colour the groove as it builds and builds. After a steamy, drawn out and intense opening crescendo the thing finally drops and will send crowds wild with its firing vocals, explosive synths and authentic old school feel. Rob Mello has put out his iconic mixes and originals mainly on labels like Classic, and years later they still sound as good as the day they were released. First up here, his fine No Ears remix is a wild style jam with flailing hits and funky synths all underpinned by big rubbery drums. It’s more direct than the original but is just as heart warming and human in its party vibe. A clever use of filters cuts out then drops in various elements for even more liveliness on the ‘floor. His equally effective No Ears Dub is more deep and stripped back, with cosmic keys and well-crafted bass swagger all making this one ripe for intimate dancefloors. Some classic vocal samples only stoke the thing further, and as with all Mello mixes, this one is another classic.There is a timeless nature to this package that is sure to make it one of the biggest releases of not just this summer, but many summers to come.

The illustrious Jasper James graces Leftroom with the superb ZTRK1 single, complete with two vinyl-only Optimo remixes by JD Twitch! Jasper James is a 24 year old DJ & producer hailing from Glasgow who has from birth been immersed in Glasgow’s rich and vibrant music scene. Taught to DJ at just 13 by his father, Sub Club’s Harri, Jasper has grown up with access to an impeccable and wide ranging record collection of thousands from the day he was old enough to cue up a record.??Jasper has already featured on BBC Radio1’s world renowned Essential Mix radio show more than once. Not only has Skream played his productions in his mix, but Jasper took the reigns to provide his own Essential Mix in May 2014. In the same year, Jasper has made various appearances on Rinse FM with both guest slots and show takeovers. As a result, Rinse FM have now given Jasper a monthly residency.??His debut release ‘Sneaky E.P’ on Optimo’s Optimo Trax label went down a storm on dancefloors over the summer with backing from the likes of Bicep, Jackmaster, Eats Everything, Richy Ahmed, Skream and 2 Bears to name a few. ZKRT1 is a fantastic slice on unadulterated techno; Jaspers original has been going a treat with crowd of late. Featured on this 12” only are these two brilliant remixes by JD Twitch, a mesmerizing Optimo mix and heavy head-spun Live Jam for those darker floors!

Once in a while a record causes such a wave of excitement, it brings new vitality to dancefloors and generates fresh enthusiasm for the underground scene. 'Without You' is one such record, brought to life by the great talents of Art Department, a duo causing deep tremors due to their pioneering use of quivering bass, haunting vocals and fiery kickdrums. The A side features the vocals of techno's wonderchild, Seth Troxler, as well as Kenny Glasgow (one half of Art Department), his voice a major element of what makes their records so special. 'Vampire Night Club' layers the duo's trademark synth sounds with an eerie and skin-pinching atmosphere. A truly mesmerizing record that gives the perfect introduction to the Art Dept sound on Crosstown Rebels, pre-empting their debut full length album on the label next year.
