Patchouli Bros - HALA
2
Patchouli Bros - ASAP
Diving deep into 90's Moroccan cassette tapes, DYLAN found the pieces to create "HALA", a peak- -time dancefloor stomper. On the flip, a song from a forgotten acetate comes to life, "ASAP" is a mid tempo boogie bomb.

Universal Cave - So Soft So Sweet
2
Universal Cave - Mishugina Mambo
Philly based UNIVERSAL CAVE flip a pair of arcane tunes into party time dancefloor anthems. Starting off with the uptempo stomper "SO SOFT SO SWEET," the big sing-along hook, searing synth solo, and reinforced drums make this a perfect secret weapon for your next disco set. On the flip, "MISHUGINA MAMBO" offers up a heavy duty Latin rhythm workout. Inspired by the classic Sofrito Specials series, the hypnotic guitar and roaring horns soar over driving percussion and pulsing drums that dare everyone in the room to remain still. UNIVERSAL CAVE are known for their namesake record label and have also released edits and remixes on EMOTIONAL RESCUE, PLEASURE OF LOVE, and now STUDS.

Monsieur Van Pratt - You Can Dance
2
Monsieur Van Pratt - Get Happy
3
Monsieur Van Pratt - Gotta Have Lovin
This might be Illegal Disco, but that doesn't mean it's bad - quite the opposite. The edits of the inimitable Monsieur Von Pratt are worth being arrested for. He knows how to tweak and toy with a well-chosen original just enough to turn up the heat without distilling any of the original, authentic vibes. 'You Can Dance' is a slinky, soulful anthem with a mid-tempo groove that will lock in anyone. 'Get Happy' has shimmering vocals that burst with joy and will get big smiles as well as big reactions. Last but not least is the gloriously upbeat and excitable disco of 'Gotta Have Lovin.' Pure fire from the Pratt, as always.

The Cool-Notes - Dimitri From Paris Remix
2
The Cool-Notes - Dimitri From Paris Is Nightdubbin’
Influential UK Jazz/Funk/Disco outfit THE COOL-NOTES' biggest hit 'Spend The Night', originally released in 1985, is back on Dafia Records with a set of brand new, never before released remixes by French Disco icon DIMITRI FROM PARIS.
The original, which reached #11 in the UK Top 40 in the Spring of 1985, is regarded as a mid-tempo UK classic by many since its first appearance. Known for his luxurious, groove-driven productions and remixes, Dimitri From Paris has reworked tracks for artists including Björk, Quincy Jones, Chic and New Order, while helping define the sound of modern disco and house music in a way only he can.
When he got the chance by Dafia label head Mannix to get his hands on the original multitrack tapes, he didn't hesitate to deliver two classic DFP revisions in the making. His Main version leaves all the essential elements of the timeless Original, highlights the parts that have deserved more exposure whilst adding crisp beats and nice effects to the game. The result is a greatly updated version that surely will have many fans within the Soul/Funk/Disco scene.
On his Dub Dimitri Form Paris delivers a spaced out stripped back version with great use of vocal snippets to great effect on any dancefloor.

Steve Watson - Born To Boogie
2
Steve Watson - My Little One
"Steve Watson's roots lie in Paramaribo, at that time the capital of the Dutch colony, where he won the 1975 Suriname Song Festival. This artist had a very strong connection with the music of his country, although unlike other artists - such as Max Nikman, for whom he acted as vocalist too - he performed his songs in English. Siegfried Boerleider, his real name, moved shortly thereafter to the Netherlands, where he also played in the groups The Backlot (with Laura Fygi and Rowan Moore) and Soul Conference. He released several singles on various labels, shaking off the "kaseko" music genre, which fused many different styles from Africa, Europe and the Americas, but considered rhythmically complex. He took time to move toward a simpler, yet well-structured, melodic genre in the recording studio, producing songs that were enjoyable to listen to on the radio and sensually danced to in the disco. With 1981's "Born To Boogie," we risk a seductive journey into the soul music of Suriname, which also possesses the fragrance of Dutch tulips. Then thanks to its charm, exploded in the Netherlands and subsequently in the world. Steve Watson - in addition to his personal style, rich in that simple and genuine expressiveness - also deserves recognition for his excellent songwriting, which led him to write for other Dutch artists, even though his two best songs are on this vinyl: "May Little One" and "Born to Boogie", ....the latter title has never been more fitting !!! Listen to it and go crazy !!!"

Bisou - Not That Simple
Bisou returns to GAMM for round two, delivering a heavy blend of Caribbean disco and bumping Afro-Funk.
The A-side, 'Do It To The Disco', takes a raw steel band funk jam and gives it a stomping, peak-time disco twist.
| Flip it over for 'Not That Simple', a gritty, 4/4 Afro-Funk weapon loaded with big chanting vocals.
Enjoy the dance...

Don Laka - Stages Of Love - Original
Tracklist
A. Stages - Prins Thomas Edit 08:34
B1. I Wanna Be Myself - Gerd Janson Edit 07:20
B2. Stages Of Love - Original 05:55
Info:
Some tracks don’t need fixing. They just need a bit more room. South African composer and keyboard wizard Don Laka has been quietly sitting in DJ bags for years, especially with people who like their synth music warm, slightly
mysterious, and impossible to date properly. Somewhere between jazz funk, township pulse and studio electronics, but really just its own thing.
Stages was an obvious candidate for extension. Prins Thomas what he does best here: opens the arrangement, lets the synth lines breathe, stretches the groove until it starts floating a little higher off the ground. Nothing forced, nothing added for
the sake of it. Just more of a very good thing. I Wanna Be Myself gets a gentle nudge from Gerd Janson. The idea was simple: keep the personality, and give DJs a version that lands naturally in a modern set without losing the original charm. It’s still the same track, just standing a bit straighter.
And because the source matters, the original version of “Stages” is here as well. Always good to remember where the magic started. Three versions, no drama. Just strong music that already knew what it was doing.

Kristal - Ete Super
2
Kristal - Fallin
"Al Festa's musical genius was revealed at the age of 14 when was released ''Starway to Escher'' with the Italian prog rock band Bauhaus (1974). His talent continued with "Miss Manhattan" by Metropole [Al Festa, Francesco Puccioni (aka Mike Francis), Claudio Giorgi, Sharon Russell vocalist), his very first disco-music song in 1981. Over his career - a dozen movie soundtracks and hundreds music videos - his involvement in the Italo-Disco scene of the early 1980s is noteworthy. Undoubtedly, his contribution to Kristal (himself Al Festa, with Anne Dattner and Max Liofredi) remains most memorable. "Ete Super" was written with Helene Chauvin, a close friend of the now legendary Jeanne Mas. Helene attempted success as Abilene with "Tout Tout Tout Mais Pas Ca" arranged by another Italo-disco legend, Pierluigi Giombini (1987). Returning to Kristal, what convinced Claudio Casalini - one of Al Festa's best friends - to create this vinyl reissue was not only the memory of this talented artist, who passed away prematurely, but also the track "Fallin'" on the B-side, which embodies all the composer's post-Romanticism, a song rich of emotional and sensitivity, with intimate and often dramatic tones. When you are about to purchase Kristal, keep this excellent B-side in mind. You will not regret the choice."

Fingerman - Phunkee Party

I Gemin - Sambalike
3
Chuggin Edits - Anita's Mystery
4
Osmose - Ur Luv
Wax Digits keep rolling out the groovy jams with an eight instalment, and this time it is back to the Various Artists format. Fingerman is the label owner and he goes first here with 'Phunkee Party', a seductive sound with twanging bass riffs and chunky drums under soaring vocals. The talented I Gemin then drops 'Sambalike', a more nuance and subtle groove that worms its way under your skin and then the love gets dialled up on the flip side thanks to Chuggin Edits and 'Anita's Mystery', a blissed-out roller bathed in sun. Smokecloud Records boss Osmose shuts down with some bright, retro disco soul in the form of an edgy rework of 'Ur Luv.'

2
The Reflex - Down Breaks
Flex7 is flexing its muscles here, with the currently ultra-prolific king of the multitrack The Reflex doing what he does best. Everything this producer and Pikes regular touches turns to gold and this time the edit maestro adds his know-how to 'D-Y-D', a low-slung and playful funky disco cut with plenty of atmospheric crowd chatter and jazzy chords that swoon through the mix. After that slice of warm proto deep house, the flip features a B-Boy classic cut that is loose-limbed and irresistibly funky.

Livin Large - Anytime, Anywhere (St David club edit)
3
DJ Pierre - Meet Hate With Love (feat Ann Nesby - St David remix)
4
Bohannon - Me & The Gang (St David Swing edit)
St David's ongoing remix project - Tributes To House Masters - takes a second swipe at the reworks form, probing deep below the surface layer of house music history for another worthy four-track V/A. Paul Johnson's production style is unmistakable before we've even read the name, and shines through even after a remix from St David Swag; 'Take A Lickin'' features several of his sonic blazons, from sticky MIDI brass to ticklish vocal chops. Johnson also famously remixed a Bohannon record, so the latter's inclusion here on the B2 makes this one feel just that bit more knowledgeable. DJ Pierre's MLK-sampling hooter 'Meet Hate With Love' is the favourite big, flabby soulful house chooer in between.

The Reflex - Real
2
The Reflex - Lady
A whole host of red-hot The Reflex flips have landed recently and this time it's TMB who drop a pair of disco delights. The opener is a smooth and low-slung cruiser with neatly knotted bass riffs and sparkling melodies that lead to a slow but sensual takeoff. On the flip, 'Lady' reworks a classic into a steamy late-night sundown sound with jazzy chords and the original vocals turning up the heat. Both are masterfully tweaked and touched up by a true titan of the edit game.
