Jos & Eli return for their second outing on Watergate with esteemed vocalist Alex Clare, as they
follow up last year’s outstanding Mozar EP.
The Israeli pair possess a distinct sound signature, crafting beautiful dancefloor creations, imbued with
chunky percussion and sonic inflections from their homeland. ‘Mayhem’ EP sees them at their beguiling
best.
‘Inner Sky’ is characterised by flowering synths that bloom and recede in giddying formations, backed up
with a heady array of noises which buzz in the background, all the while a steady groove is maintained
throughout. Afterlife wunderkind Stephan Jolk is recruited for remixing duties and brings swells of
dreamy melody and subtle washes of Balearic to Jos & Eli’s original.
A name familiar to many after his single ‘Too Close’ was nominated for a BRIT award in 2011, Alex Clare
blesses the EP with his vocals on ‘Mistake’. Driven by a gutsy guitar-driven bottom end that gives the
composition a distinct Americana vibe, it’s a cut big on vibes that’s begging to be played at a dusty
festival as the sun sets over the horizon. The title track ‘Mayhem’ rounds out the four-track package, a
persistent synapse-tickling synth driving the track throughout.

Both artists are musicians since childhood and their natural talent shines brightly on ‘Mozar’ EP. The title
track is driven by a woozy riff which sits atop a chugging bed of drums and seems to capture the stirring
energy of their homeland. ‘Atomica’ is similarly unique, with its persistent synth layers, delicate drums and
stirring pads, andconjures an otherworldly atmosphere. Respected vocalist Jinadu joins them for ‘One’, a
unifying anthem in the making. Yotto contributes a classy re-work of ‘Atomica’, keeping the impactful riff,
but adding in harmonising elements and plumping out the bass for an amplified peak-time hit.

The 41st release on TECHNO Records marks a defining milestone: the first full- scale solo record by the label’s founder, Nastia, in her music career. It opens up a new depth of detail within the character and identity of both the artist and the catalogue.

Rather than making a loud statement, Nastia focuses on a restrained and functional approach to techno, shaped through subtle shifts in tension, texture, and rhythm. The tracks move with intention, avoiding obvious peaks in favour of gradual development and controlled energy—a familiar methodology and a direct analogy to the evolution of the label itself. Crafted with dancefloor energy in mind but not bound by it, the release offers a fresh perspective on the author’s persona, stripping away excess and overexplanation. It leaves ample room for the listener’s imagination and a versatile, expert application within a DJ set.

The trajectory of ascents and shifting attention in an artist’s career is the only honest path, providing material for reflection and the anchoring of values. This depth of experience cannot be replicated by overnight success or short-lived peaks—only decades of exploration, trial, and error can forge a work built to endure. Studio work becomes a new instrument for Nastia to build value capital, while her debut solo EP stands as an artefact marking a historic point for the author and the label.
