Originally released on the Escape From South Warren LP via Motech Records in 2015, “We Get Down” was born from a hypnotic Turkish loop sample twisted into a raw modern dance weapon — driven by Gary Martin’s preacher-style spoken vocals and underground Detroit energy.

This latest version includes originals samples.

Gary Martin has a history of creating something new by combining a couple things old. This time around the concept is what happens if we mix techno with burlesque to make the cake and then add some Berlin for the icing. A sexy 4 tracker indeed with the titles “Berlisque”, “Black Boa”, ‘More Sex Magic Voodoo”, and “Berlisque Ryan Elliott Remix”. The title track features a stomping bassline with some real drums, classic Detroit style keyboard chord hits and gentle guitar sounds. Black Boa has kind of a glam style synth riff and cheers. Gary Martin releases his second sequential EP on Motech Records, the 'This is It' EP. The Ep features two more exclusive tracks, 'This is It' a driving composition accented with piano and synth patterns and subtle funky movement, and 'Galaxy Style' a percussive, building composition expertly laced with muted samples and synth progressions. Included on this EP are two remixes from techno veterans Mark Broom and Rolando. Broom takes on 'This is It' chopping the original into a hyper dance floor drubbing burner. Rolando re-treats 'Galaxy Style' into a composition that unfolds as it progresses, bathed in signature Rolando production elements.

Martin's Escape From South Warren LP will arrive on October 5th on the label operated by Frank Juncaj, AKA DJ 3000. Juncaj calls Martin an "unsung hero of Detroit techno" and cites his label, Teknotika Records, which has been running since 1993, as a key influence. The first remix EP, due out September 21st, features reworks by Robert Hood and DJ 3000 in addition to two original cuts. Mark Broom and Rolando contribute to the second EP, which arrives on October 12th.

After 20 years of experience, Gary Martin couldn’t resist a 12” that is also the 50th release for Teknotika: a label from Detroit that didn’t exactly stick with the game when it switched to the mp3 format. “Basking In Blackness” is a composition of textured broken beat then classic four on the floor old school soul.“Synthotika” is what would happen if a synthasizer could take over an orchestra. A track inspired by Detroit peers no doubt. “Every Bit As Beautiful” goes sensative deep house piano, a lil Latin percussion and soaring Eno-esque synths to top it off. The title is a bit sarcastic, let’s face it, there is no life after techno!

On side A, they both deliver their own pass on 'Echoes In My Mind', with Rocca's fluid, warm and organic Italian dream house-meets-Balearic house pass being followed by Coco's hybrid deep house/nu-disco take. They jointly explore their love of African musical culture on languid, hazy and mid-tempo B-side 'Mama Sol Mama Africa', where fluttering flutes, warm Rhodes keys and layered percussion catch the ear. That comes backed with a lovely alternative 'dub' full of effects-laden musical details and ear-catching percussion hits.

On the flip, 'Free Your Mind' introduces firmer rhythmic pressure without disturbing the record's low-lit sensuality. 'Da Jazz' closes things beautifully through brushed percussion and featherlight piano motifs with a rolling swing that feels most elegant in its looseness. Very classy deep house, this.
