Philipp Priebe returns to his own Stólar imprint this August with his ‘Layers Of Longing’ EP, comprising four original compositions.

Berlin artist Philipp Priebe’s now extensive back catalogue and his Stólar label has firmly cemented him as a coveted figure in the underground deep house and techno scene over the past decade, garnering an array of widespread attention from DJ’s and media like through numerous EP’s, debut album on his own imprint and
most recently another long player for Freund Der Familie’s new Paradijs Boogie imprint.

Here we see Priebe’s sonic story continue with four fresh cuts for Stólar, leading the way is ‘Need & Desire’, a seven and a half minute excursion through hazy textural elements, hypnotic spoken word and raw reduced drums before ‘A Functional Piece Of Different Nature’ lays down a sturdy, heavily swung and saturated rhythm section alongside boomy low end swells, delayed vocal chants and spiralling dub echoes.

Opening the flip-side is ‘A Sculpture’, diving deeper into dub realms via ever evolving murky atmospherics, dub flutters and resonant synth licks intertwined with stripped down percussion. ‘To Find A Seat’ then concludes the release, employing more classic dub techno tropes as warbled stabs sequences, cavernous reverberations
and cinematic stings float atop crisp hats, crunchy claps and a weighty 4/4 kick.

Will You joins the roster of Philipp Priebe’s Stólar this February with his ‘Is It 2 Late?’ EP accompanied by remixes from Lb Honne and Orion.
Producer, DJ and Oleeva Records label boss Will You has been slowly unveiling his take on contemporary deep house and dub-tinged techno over the past few years via solo material and remixes on his own imprint and most recently a remix of Philipp Priebe’s ‘Movements In An Empty Department Store’ on Stólar. Here we see Will You returning to the latter aforementioned imprint with his latest EP.
Leading the release is ‘Santé’, a six and a half minute excursion through snaking sub bass tones, a crisp, shuffled rhythm section, dreamy synth chimes, squelchy 303 licks and spoken word vocal lines. Title-cut ‘Is It 2 Late’ follows next and deviates into more dubbed out territory via expansive, unfurling echoes, cinematic atmospherics and robust, intricate percussion.
Opening the flip-side is Zurich’s Lb Honne’s interpretation of ‘Is It 2 Late’, the Project Indigo artist extracts the essence of the original and reshapes it into a subtly nuanced, loop-led and hypnotic workout. Italian duo Orion then conclude the package with their take on ‘Santé’, reshaping the original with their signature deep techno style, fuelled by grainy textural components and bumpy saturated drums.

Stólar label boss Philipp Priebe delivers the inaugural long player on his own imprint this December, entitled ‘Movements In An Empty Department Store’ and comprising eight original compositions from the German artist.

This LP is about a kid’s dream - one night alone in an empty department store. A dream come true for lots of children and adults, as it gives you the opportunity to do what you want, try everything without the side eye of employees, snack through the entire food and sweets section and have a night off without thinking about consequences. This can become great, a nightmare or a feverish dream these eight tracks are your soundtrack to this adventure.
Throughout the ‘Movements In An Empty Department Store’ album, Priebe further
showcases his ability to craft, raw, cinematic and often mystical deep house music that acts as a cosseting sonic blanket for the listener throughout. From the swelling bass lines, dubby echoes and ethereal textures found in tracks like ‘Marble’, ‘Porcelain’, ‘Drenched In Dust’ and ‘Fever Dreams’, through to more rugged percussion driven dance floor tools like title-cut ‘Movements In An Empty Department Store’, ‘Cedar’ and ‘Clouds Floating In A Haze Of Light’ or the pensive, haunting closer ‘On The Way Out’, Philipp Priebe once again proves himself as a remarkable composer with a striking ear for detail and depth.
