For our fourth release, we welcome Basel-based producer Ben Kaczor. ‘To Baby Bones’ showcases the tracks produced as part of Ben’s first live set presented at Above Below Festival in 2024.
Written as a homage to a loved one, the title track of the EP is a gentle soundscape traveling through memories and subtle body shivers, far away yet never out of heart’s reach. ‘Bridge’, as if hung high above, suffuses the air with a thick emotional haze, lifting slowly as a walk along a fragile structure ends. Wistfully transforming present into past, ‘This Blue Light’ melds with the orange glow of the sun and dissolves into a white cloud. Driving and fizzy ‘Punchbag’ brings all the dreamers down to earth. Immersing them straight into the buzzing front left, it buoyantly concludes an ode to the melody of life and the joy of a loving heart — To Baby Bones.

“For the album, an important conceptual thought came from encountering a rare ear-shaped seashell called Petro Uvo (Peter’s Ear). I found it while diving in Dubrovnik, Croatia in the summer. Inspired by the sound of a foreign language, I decided to keep all the tracks in Croatian, some of them in the dialect of the town of Dubrovnik, because the atmospheric soundscapes of the tracks reflect memories and feelings of traveling through Croatia, the force of the sea and wind, the play of lights and moods.”

Berlin artist Philipp Priebe’s now extensive back catalogue and his Stólar label has firmly cemented him as a coveted figure in the underground deep house and techno scene over the past decade, garnering an array of widespread attention from DJ’s and media like through numerous EP’s, debut album on his own imprint and
most recently another long player for Freund Der Familie’s new Paradijs Boogie imprint.
Here we see Priebe’s sonic story continue with four fresh cuts for Stólar, leading the way is ‘Need & Desire’, a seven and a half minute excursion through hazy textural elements, hypnotic spoken word and raw reduced drums before ‘A Functional Piece Of Different Nature’ lays down a sturdy, heavily swung and saturated rhythm section alongside boomy low end swells, delayed vocal chants and spiralling dub echoes.
Opening the flip-side is ‘A Sculpture’, diving deeper into dub realms via ever evolving murky atmospherics, dub flutters and resonant synth licks intertwined with stripped down percussion. ‘To Find A Seat’ then concludes the release, employing more classic dub techno tropes as warbled stabs sequences, cavernous reverberations
and cinematic stings float atop crisp hats, crunchy claps and a weighty 4/4 kick.

Producer, DJ and Oleeva Records label boss Will You has been slowly unveiling his take on contemporary deep house and dub-tinged techno over the past few years via solo material and remixes on his own imprint and most recently a remix of Philipp Priebe’s ‘Movements In An Empty Department Store’ on Stólar. Here we see Will You returning to the latter aforementioned imprint with his latest EP.
Leading the release is ‘Santé’, a six and a half minute excursion through snaking sub bass tones, a crisp, shuffled rhythm section, dreamy synth chimes, squelchy 303 licks and spoken word vocal lines. Title-cut ‘Is It 2 Late’ follows next and deviates into more dubbed out territory via expansive, unfurling echoes, cinematic atmospherics and robust, intricate percussion.
Opening the flip-side is Zurich’s Lb Honne’s interpretation of ‘Is It 2 Late’, the Project Indigo artist extracts the essence of the original and reshapes it into a subtly nuanced, loop-led and hypnotic workout. To submit or to surrender? Robert Johnson resident Oskar Offermann doesn’t have the answers, and that’s kind of the point. Things change: one moment you’re touring the globe as a recognizable face of one of the greatest clubs in the world, the next you’ve started a new life as a teacher. How do you handle that shift? On this record, Offermann doesn’t offer solutions so much as trace his own way through it, reflecting the whole process in his music and creative work.
Whatever the story, whatever the case, Oskar Offermann can still produce some of the most emotive, bleepy, strange dance music out there and this 12 inch is the proof. Sonically and conceptually it leans into that precise, melancholic German school: at points drawing from 80s wave and experimental music, then flirting with trancey motifs and closing in divinely crafted breakbeat. In just four tracks it packs in a surprising amount of functional range, exactly what you’d expect from one of RJ’s longest-standing residents. The A- and B-sides mirror each other: they open at full intensity, tempos pushed well past the 130 BPM mark, easy to imagine ripping through a peak-time floor – and still both sides land on something far more personal and reflective.
Even inside a framework of high-intensity club tunes, Oskar’s character shines through loud and proud. Think the slightly disjarring yet melodically captivating winds in the middle of the B1 trance induced number “Accepting”, or the masterfully paced build of opener “Planet Interface”. The same goes for A2 “Televise Improvise” and B2 “Sei mal nur lieb”: on paper they should feel like breathers next to the two behemoths, but they don’t. Offermann crams so much substance and personality into them that they become quietly dangerous. There’s that magical mix of squelchy acid, rough low end and naturalistic melodies on B2, and the relentless emotional drive of A2 “Televise Improvise”. Oskar is really, really good at making dance music irresistible.
Character, skill and honesty in one record, meant for the attentive listener and the brave DJ. A rare combination nowadays, get it fast!

Wrapped Up In Time is the fourth vinyl release by Night Foundation; the solo project of Intermedia artist and Noir Age label owner Richard Vergez. An existential suite of sounds comprised of analogue synth and drum machine, guitar, clarinet, tape loops and other assorted space racket.
The LP offers solo, instrumental passages punctuated by duets with Noir Age alumni: Underground vocal legend Little Annie reputable for her past collaborations with Coil, Nurse With Wound, Swans and countless others, lends her lived-in pipes for Blue Garage; along with Belgrade-based sound artist Zhe Pechorin for Night Blooming Jasmine; a tribute to our passed brother David Lynch.
Both rhythmic and expansive, Hinterland searching; Wrapped Up In Time is a processing of grief, memory, and the current state of our revolving loop of life. Recorded in South Florida, 2024-2025.

'Hits Me In Waves' unveils three currents at once, the surging pull of inspiration, the sweep of new love, and the beautiful embrace of La Cinta's waters, all washing over in unison. Thus, each track of the EP explores a wide range of emotions and moods, expressed in multiple styles within drum & bass; the lead single 'On An Island', sets the tone with unmatched sound design, rich musical elements, and raw, uncompromising production. Next comes 'Point Of Reference', built for the dancefloor and eternally young in its refined appeal. 'Celebration' follows, a powerful track that ties the listening journey together, pairing heavy low-end weight with slick musicality to keep it both melodic and full of energy. “I first learned about this album thanks to GOKA, who built the sound system for my record shop, CELLAR RECORDS. Around 2019, it was praised by some connoisseurs, but it’s different from the so-called “popular ambient” sound that was in vogue at the time. This work is a Japanese obscure pop album created in 2002 by Hiroaki Sugawara, who goes by the name “Sergio Maria Saguaro,” mixing all types of exotic moods and completed in a secluded space. In particular, A-2 “Window with a Dog” and B-5 “Washing Machine” are truly a sonic paradise. When you put this record on your shelf, be sure to place it next to Tatsuhiko Asano’s excellent soundtrack “Following in the Footsteps of Doshin,” which was happily reissued in 2022, or Steve Hiett’s “Down On The Road By The Beach.”” -???
