West coast veteran deep house and techno producer Kenneth Graham lays down 4 fine cuts for WGD.

Placid aka Paul Wise is the operator in chief at ‘We’re Going Deep’ – an online community and record label born out of a lifelong love affair with the many shades of electronic rhythm, and an obsession for collecting records since 1988.

Up next in the We’re Going Deep label series, Paul invites seasoned US producer Kenneth Graham to the imprint. The renowned Los Angeles based House and Techno artist has been making his mark since the early 90s, delighting fans with his sunkissed production prowess.

Having made music under an impressive array of monikers such as Ashtar Afterhours, Bit Shift, Emerald City, Estelle Montenegro, Exit Strategy, First Light as well as under his own name, Graham has made his mark on hallowed imprints such as Peacefrog, Plastic City, Immigrant, Ovum and many more over the years. A welcome addition to the We’re Going Deep roster, he offers up 4 distinct flavours from across his repertoire - demonstrating why his subtle touch has chimed so well with music lovers over the decades.

Kicking off the EP with some purist Acid action, Graham opts for a raw machine made jam, melding 2-step 808 beats to the cutting wave of a TB-303 on ‘JoshRIP’ to get the party started. Accompanied by ‘Greedworx’, here he sets out his stall with angular FM bass tones set to a steady, low-slung rhythmic groove as dubby atmosphere and whispered vocals draw you in.

On the flipside, ‘Hiding from Machines’ takes the tempo up a small notch as organic percussion, twinkling keys and an emotive lead riff drift through the air. All met with a sizable bassline that can’t help but make you want to move that comes together for a purist masterclass in restraint and elegance. Last but not least, we end out on the rolling moves and IDM influenced melody of ‘Mecca’, a wavily hazy ode and fusion of Electronic house that almost meets Bleep. As the elements collide and the intensity soars, there’s nothing that feels out of place in this finely honed excursion which repeat listening brings out more and more detail.

The next release in Kaspiann’s VALA series sees the Finnish label boss sharing a 12" with leading Dutch techno explorer Konduku for an immaculate trip into entrancing rhythms and cyclical hypnotism. Both artists have forged their reputations on pushing the deep techno sound forward with distinctive approaches to synthesis and sequencing.

VALA5 came together as a natural product of mutual respect—Konduku had been thoroughly road-testing Kaspiann’s tracks, and so he matched them with complementary productions of his own. Konduku takes up the A side with ‘Window,’ a melancholic arp-led enchantment that contrasts perfectly with the metallic thump of ‘Kastanje’. On the flip, Kaspiann’s ‘Tykkykansa’ is a tunnelling tapestry of intricate percussive and tonal patterns leading straight into the taut, looped-up minimalism of ‘Henkinen’. Precision built for immersive, drawn out blends, this is sophisticated techno at its finest.

Underground Resistance member James Pennington A.K.A. Suburban Knight has his first night strike on EPM with 'Winds of Fear'.

Pennington is known for being one of the producers on the Inner City hit single 'Big Fun', as well as his own solo productions for Transmat with 'The Art of Stalking' and numerous tracks on UR, most notably the 'Nocturbulous Behavior' and 'By Night' EPs.

Fellow past UR members and Detroit legends in their own right, Robert Hood and Eddie Fowlkes step up to edit this masterpiece.

Brazilian producer 'Bungle' returns to Thirtyone Records with his sophomore EP for the renowned British outlet for all things drum & Bass. Doc Scott curates the label closely and has selected four Bungle cuts that all have that same prolific vibe to them. ''Cocooned EP'' opens up with the sublime and dark title song. 'Cocooned' revolves around a savvy bass cut and Bungle's signature big drums. 'Distance' is a special piece with a gigantic pad at the centre of the song. The big and jazzy hats are compilmenting the rhythm nicely while splashes of FX are cleverly being used throughout. 'Eclipse' is a nervous electronic cut with a thumping feel to it. Tech sounds, distortion and ethereal sounds are moulded to a buldging piece of dancefloor music. On the last position of the 'Cocooned EP' tracklist we find 'Impulse'. This track stands for: huge drums, deep bass sounds and a very ominous atmosphere.
